Both Lukaku and Barkley ran hard all game so I am not having the rubbish from further up the thread that they didn't put in a shift.
 
Neither did hold on to the ball well but neither did Origi. Difference is their midfield could hold onto the ball and rotate. We didn't play that way and we never were.
 
Both of the lads did need to do better on the ball bur they were swarmed. It's bloody difficult to make things stick then you are immediately under pressure from 2 3 or 4 defenders.

That game was gone as soon as McCarthy got injured. Barry never got into the game and based on the evidence of tonight he has played a large part in us having zero tempo this season.
 
If we want to play a high intensity pressing game then Barry cannot be a part of it.
 
Absolutely gutted here. We were fantastic in the first half but absolutely nowhere in the second half.

As soon as Barry came on the game changed. The battle in midfield was lost.

Our physio looks about 12.

Baines block in the last seconds was literally worth two points.

Won two headers from corners, defended two headers at our end. Made a good run and challenge for the corner which left Williams a free header for the winner.
Also was a nuisance for their defence.

Our plan is to hoof the ball up ton lukaku and hope for the best. It resulted in a goal but that was hopeful to say the least, I don't even think Barry looked up he just dinked a ball through.
 
Defending hasn't really improved since last season, going forward is poorer, we don't press what so even and Koeman still blames Barkley it's dillusional.
 
Granted Koeman can only work with what he's got but, for me, his tactics are one dimensional and lack real intent, purpose or flair.

Need to start the game with 11 players. Last week Cleverley was lost and now McCarthy.
 
We are so shit at the moment- 2nd to every ball- out paced everywhere. Defensively as shaky as a shitting dog.
 
The positive is we are still level.
