If someone was going to design a modern footballer on a computer his physicality and technical skills set would be close to Barkley than any other player.

Powerful, quick, 2 very good feet, skillful, good passing ability, great shot....

The lad needs a dose of arrogance, self belief and above all players who revolve around him.

I've said it before, he just needs leaving alone. He's 22 ffs, 5 years off being in his prime. If he needs dropping, drop him, but the fans need to get off the kids back, otherwise he won't be an Everton player in five years. If fans keep destroying our own top youth prospects like they do, we're destined to stay also rans.

Maturity will turn Ross into the player he needs to become.
I just hope we don't ruin him first.

If he never had 2 feet, never had a great shot in either foot, never had the ability to run at pace with the ball then I would say a poor brain on top of all that renders him useless.

The fact is that it's only his brain/confidence etc that is the problem. He probably cares too much.

But, he doesn't give it away more than other players, especially those up front, do. His giveaways are magnified because of the expectation that, with his talent, what amazing things we've seen him do, and all that we've built him up to be, he will turn a miracle every time he touches it. And, of course he can't make miracles happen constantly (no player can), but we punish him for not being perfect. When he misses a pass that was on, holds onto the ball too long, makes a quick decision but a wrong one, or when he misses a shot, we as fans and the Goodison crowd abuse him. I think so many of us have put upon him the expectation that he's going to be Everton's savior (not to mention England's), that, when he fails to live up to that impossible standard, we vent all of our unfulfilled frustrations and place them onto him. In these moments, he functions as yet another symbol of unfulfilled promise and all that is wrong with club and country. From the US, and as someone who hasn't followed Everton from birth, this is evident in how the local and national press treat homegrown and English players and how fans internalize all of this. There's without a doubt an inferiority complex at work here, and Everton fans (and England fans) are constantly looking for answers as to why the team can't return to former glories. The press brings news of messiahs, and everybody gets their hopes up, and 16-year-old kids are shouldered with the hopes and dreams of club and country. Yet, none can live up to the standards. When times are good and the team is playing well, everybody sings the praises of that diamond, Ross Barkley. But, when the team's form drops, everybody looks to him and says "I've doubted you from the beginning, you fucking charlatan!" This is where the "you never ask about Seamus Coleman" quote from Koeman comes from. Ross Barkley isn't the panacea for all of Everton's ills and neither is he the root of the apparent disease.

Ffs let's get behind the lad rather than wrote him off.

We know he has faults but he is one of the most talented English players currently in the game. Someone just needs to tell him to stop over thinking things and get a shot away. When he is playing well he does that naturally but when he starts to doubt himself he tries to walk the ball in.

    Thrilled, no. Content-happy yeah.

    Bad
    No new striker
    No additional playermakers/competition at mid,
    Niasse is still here
    Gibson got an extension
    Embarrassed by Sissoku

    Good -
    Upgraded Keeper (starting IX)
Upgraded back 4 with Williams - Stones would have been shit if he stayed (starting IX wash with one lost)
Upgraded Midfield with Gueye (starting IX)
Upgraded front line with Bolasie (starting IX)

    Bonus -
Kone actually looks serviceable and lively
Mirallias looks like his head is out of his arse and looks good
Holgate has unexpectedly become a PL quality starting RB (to this point)
    Rom is still on Merseyside
Enner may or may not give us a boost at wing/forward, but he's a loan so the risk is mitigated

    Random thoughts -
We have brought in 4 new players into the starting IX that are all upgrades to what we had - and John Stones pretty much paid for all of them
We significantly upgraded at the manager position
Steve Walsh is a good hire
If we had actually signed Sissoku, he would have made Aaron Lennon's press conference look like a party. Dude didn't want to be here, period.
Keeping JMC was good business to me. McCarthy is rock solid, but 35 and he WILL get YC accumulation, Besic is out, JMC is needed depth
Folks flipped out when we were rumored to offer 30M for a player as being foolish, but are pissed we didn't spend the 100M kitty we expected. Pick one.
We didn't lose any of the youth we expect to move to first team soon. Did I mention Holgate?

And the end of the day,Koeman has the team looking more organized as a whole, our starting IX, bench and staff are better today than in April, or July. And we're starting 7 points in 3, last year we had 4 from 3. And we have 100M to spend in January!

Great, no - but I do think the glass is half full.
And I hope Sissoku gets dick cancer.

"Statistically we have got one of the best teams in the history of Everton yet we are 12th in the premier league"?

Statistically we are 12th, the opinion we have one of the best teams in Everton's history is just that, opinion (presume she means her thoughts on squad/potential which I'd not disagree with totally).

Badly worded though, don't agree and won't be signing.

I can't help feeling that Mirallas should get a chance upfront, some of his best games as a professional were playing upfront for Olympiakos.
