100% a pen for me

Their xG was 0.04 for the first half….

Solid performance after the first 10 minutes or so. Very unfortunate to not at the very least be level.

I actually thought it was encouraging from him today. He was really struggling in the first half, especially the first 30 minutes or so. And then I thought he kept working and really turned his performance around in the second half. We haven’t seen him struggle really at all this whole year so watching him bounce back was good to see.

Not sure if that’s on Tark or Pickford but that was awful. Gifted them that one.

Yea inviting pressure but also not really looking to counter, just like last week.

Branthwaite was shaky for the first ~20 minutes but he’s been brilliant since

They’re just looking to dive any chance they can but these are also close to penalties. We need to get some containment.

Branthwaite having his first tough match of the season so far
-
Palace feeling constantly dangerous
-
That run of play made me uncomfy

I went for myko tho honestly I’m kinda giving it to him for his recent body of work rather than just this match. He did well on the goal and he’s been sturdy defensively for a number of weeks now. Great to see him back in form.

Dyche's points about directness is both a source of frustration but also why I think he's progressing our play at the moment. Sometimes we hoof it forward or rush to play forward without letting the shape develop, and that's certainly frustrating. But then I think back to the last four or so years of football, waiting for the perfect ball which almost never materializes, then being forced to play back, then ultimately being forced to hoof it forward anyway.

He still looks a bit awkward going forward but the goal against Brighton while also awkward looking I actually thought he did incredibly well on that first hit. It was such a weird angle that getting as much power on it as he did completely caught the defense and the keeper off guard and set up a real chance. Was the goal a bit lucky sure but he made everything awkward enough for the defense to allow it to happen.
And his defensive work has been absolutely stellar recently.

Hoping he can find his footing and enjoy the game again. He was such a joy to watch when he was younger and there seems to be real mutual love between him and the club after everything he's gone through. It would be wonderful for it to work out.

After the last 5 years I'm genuinely shocked how many supporters seem to want Dyche gone. This is first time in heavens knows how long that I feel like there's a plan for recruitment, there's a genuinely good squad to choose from, the wage bill is representative of where we sit in terms of current quality, and our trajectory is upwards.
