  1. Exactly this. Marquee signings who are the finished article do not want to come here because they want to compete for Europe. So, we're taking in my opinion the correct approach. We identified Onana as one with the potential to be a fixture in our midfield for years to come, and we've remained patient in a tough market and brought on pieces to fortify the squad who are both reasonably priced and, most importantly, actually want to play here and will leave it on the field to ensure we remain in the top flight while we rebuild our foundation. Coady, Tarkowski, and Maupay all fit the bill in that regard.
  2. Obviously Iwobi for the full 90, but Gray had a few great spells even excluding the goal which was brilliant. He played a couple balls in that should be finished if we had a halfway competent man in the box.
  3. Honestly going with Gordon in the same role as last week is an abysmal decision. I know options are short but not happy with Frank today at all.
  4. Two minds about this one. On one hand, he's too old for me to be considering whether he's ready for a step up to prem. That said, at this point I'll take almost anyone that provides us coverage. I'm a no if it's a transfer, especially one with any material fee. But a one year loan with the wages he's on, seems like a reasonable play to get some depth.
  5. I don’t believe it matters when we pay, though I could be wrong. I think the fee is amortized over the duration of the contract agreed. I suppose if the side of the outgoing player agrees take less than the would-be amortized amount, perhaps it could be an even smaller hit on the books?
  6. Haven’t been this excited for a transfer in a while. The midfield is looking strong! Now onto the attcack…
  7. Obviously either Tarkowski or Iwobi for me. Iwobi looks like a decent distributor these days and was the only consistent source of creation from the midfield. But I went for Tark. He’s come right in and become the calming presence on the squad. The whole back line is already looking to him. And he nearly netted one in the first half.
  8. There will be plenty of moments over the course of the season where we'll have to remind ourselves of his age. He's fouled at too high a clip thus far in his career and I imagine it'll take some time for him to polish that area of his game. Nonetheless he looks like a hell of a player and you'll take the fouls at a young age given everything else he has to offer.
  9. This. Nothing would be more welcome than actually enjoying possession after watching nearly the entire midfield look petrified of taking space or making an impactful decision on the ball.
  10. Richy with a consistently putrid performance tonight
  11. Clearly the personnel is playing a part but we're also playing with no spirit whatsoever. Looking lazy and completely disinterested.
  12. Bournemouth 2 - Everton 2 Cenk Took a leap of faith to predict a point... Not feeling good about this match unfortunately
  13. I don't expect to see any of Bernard, though I'd like to see him come on for a bit in the second half. I'm mostly hoping to see Zouma break up the Holgate - Keane pairing qhich I have no confidence in whatsoever. Sadly with this lineup I don't see us coming away with 3 points on the road but I hope I'm wrong.
  14. I'd love to see both Mina and someone more attacking next to Schneiderlin / Gana but I agree that Mark's squad is most likely. I'd love to see us link up with Tosun more successfully this match; Rich was brilliant against Wolves but we played far too frequently through the left side. We've much more talent than this team - we should be able to approach them with a varied attack.
  15. Thank you Romey! Still figuring out the logistics of this thing.
  16. Hello everyone, I've posted a few times in the past couple years but haven't introduced myself here.. Been a fan for going on 10 years and just moved to NYC about 9 months ago. I got into EPL when I was around 17 but got quickly fed up with the fans of the big clubs and subsequently grew a real fondness for that team - Cahill / Arteta / Fellaini / PIenaar / Baines etc etc Been a crazy run since then and this team will test my anger management capabilities from time to time but I'm excited to be here. Cheers! Hank
  17. No chance this comes off for me. I'd be ecstatic if it does though.
  18. I'd like the signing as long as he's not viewed as the answer to our striker need... He looks like a strong future option but isn't nearly good enough to be the immediate answer now.
  19. Yes, but if Koeman doesn't see a target he likes who's both available and wants to come here then kicking the can is better than doing nothing. It seems clear to me that he's looking for attacking help wherever he can find it at this point.
  20. Wow. I majorly disagree here. He's a pain in the ass but talent and production wise he's world class for me.
  21. I actually thought Siggy looked solid, all things considered. Our tactics left no room for link up play in the midfielf and he picked out some nice passes regardless. Not the impact you'd ideally want but hard to expect anymore given the situation.
