But then I found myself wanting more, and I thought "one little post will be fine, no one needs to know". Only team to have not conceded a goal this season. From mid point last season where we looked pretty dire to know, is a vast improvement - Keane looks the player we all hoped, Digne is just pure class, Coleman has rediscovered himself and whoever plays next to Keane seems to have clear understanding of his role.
Silva has done well here - hopefully we sharpen up in front of goal!

I think the real test will not be this year but next. Would love to get into Europe and I think we will but Silva/Brands have done almost a complete overhaul of our squad over the last couple seasons. The team we have out there is nearly unrecognizable. By next year we should have most everything in place and those guys will have experience with the club. Brands has mentioned he wants to model our approach after some of the big clubs where we are only bringing in 2-3 quality signings during the summer window. That lack of turnover should really help stabilize things and by next August we should have a  talented group with good experience together and be ready to really mount a challenge. I think we are building the right way.

If I'm honest I never wanted Marco Silva, but couldn't really think of who I would've wanted instead. Apart from feeling he hadn't done enough at Watford, I found it worrying that we were continuing to pursue a manager who appeared to fall to pieces after having his head turned. But when he got here I gave him my full support and thought 'No matter how he starts, he needs at least 18 months to get things right and put his own players and system in place. Then we can see how things are'. 
We had a good strong finish to last season, and we've started decent enough this season. But we all know how quickly a situation can turn, how easily the wheels can come off and have everything come crashing down. So I'll wait until the end of the year before I start criticising or praising the guy. By then we should be in a far better position to judge him, the foundation he has laid, the players he's brought in, his system and tactics, and also how we appear to be progressing with him in charge. Hopefully Silva will turn out to be the man to take us to where we want to be, or at least put us on the next level... because we can really do without the Managerial merry-go-round. Including Silva, we've had four Managers in about five years plus two stints by Unsworth. That type of disruption to the Club, players, and staff, just isn't good at all.

Short week for this one, they don't have a win in the league yet and will be home, they will be hungry.  Good news is they are lacking quality and we are the better side.  Against these lower teams we need 3 points, the away draw is fine and all but if we are trying to be ambitious it needs to be 3 points.  Digne a doubftul due to the hamstring, luckily we have Baines.  I'd still stick with DCL but i would make Kean my first sub and give him a solid 30 minutes of playing time to see what he can do.

Just seen the Villa highlights and they look lively enough. Spurs shut them down pretty well so I'd expect us to be able to do similar and they will give away chances. The question is whether we can take the chances. A game for Kean to start maybe. 

Villa are decent, unlucky against spurs. Mcginn is a really good player and they have a big unit upfront so hopefully Mina will have his numbers. The one thing about villa is they concede a lot of goals. Even when promoted last year they conceded lots. Think there will be goals and the incentive is there to go into the weekend top of the league. I expect baines in for digne if it’s his hamstring. I would start kean. I think his cameo on Saturday shows  teams won’t know how to deal with him yet. I’d also put gilfi on the bench and put Iwobi there or swap Bernard to the centre. 1-3 baines, kean double

Excited for this one. The most played top flight fixture and I'm happy to see Villa back in the prem, always had a soft spot for them. 

I'm confident of a win, but it'll be tough away from home. We need to stamp our authority on the table and show our intentions. Hopefully we go out there to hurt them. 

Crowd will be up for it but a Friday night game our lads should be rocking and give the team a real boost
