  1. Isnt that cockneys? (i.e. a true cockney is supposedly someone born within earshot of the Bow Bells). ANYWAY for the record I was born in FAZAKERLEY but like you I'm a Sefton lad really as I was brought up in Maghull. (My Dad is from Norris Green and my Mum from Everton so that must be worth some brownie points).
  2. Thats preferable to the so called chants sugested.
  3. What I was saying was we CAN be anyone at Goodison not that WE DO (unfortunately).
  4. Cahill didnt have the bast game but what sort of statement is "Ok great scoring record but that is the only thing he brings" ?? Well, thats a damn site more than AJ brings, and AJ calls himself a centre forward. Oh yeah, and Cahill can head a ball as well as jump. AJ dont even challenge for balls in the air. Anyway, lay off Cahill. He's alright, and like it or not is one of our most important players. AND even if his great scoring record was the only thing he brought then thats OK by me. Sure we all want a complete player but tucking the ball away is preferable to some nonce being fancy with the ball on the halfway line. Rant over.
  5. Agree with you there, why he didnt take him off is a bit of a mystery. He shouldve been on the bench from the start IMO. We are a strong team these days but for me AJ is one of our few weak links. Doesnt look anywhere near Premier League material.
  6. They dont look that great TBH. I know they've players missing but so have we. We can beat anyone at Goodison, I think we'll have 'em. Painful goal to give away though.
  7. Dont think they do. What a bad goal to give away. We look knackered in the last 10 mins.
  8. Can someone tell me what AJ has done tonight?? He looks too lightweight and out of his depth to me. (still handy as a sub though). We could do with someone that can hold on to the ball a bit. Yakubu has had an off day (awful 1st half) but you know hes always capable of scoring a cracker like he did.
  9. No, but its looking like they probably will be next season.
  10. Watford = Z Cars (Theiving Bastards). Sunderland used to have Z-Cars at one point aswell but now use some nice classical piece (dont know what its called though).
  11. You wait till we move to Kirkby then he can rightly say Tranmere is closer to the centre of Liverpool than us :sad01_anim:
  12. Eh? Chelsea lucky v Liverpool. thats not what I saw. I thought Chelsea were much more attacking and the ones looking for the win.
  13. Good post, like some of your sentiments ("fellow blues, men of great taste, regal and princely blood") but have to say that being negative is part and parcel of being a blue, actually negative is a bit of a strong word, I think Realistic is more acurate. While I admire the naivity of he who is always positive I generally hear realism from blues. The constantly positive attitude ie "we are going to win the league this year..er..next year..the year after" is what I hear from them across the park and if being negative / realistic sets me apart from that rabble then YES I AM NEGATIVE.
  14. Agree with your reasons for winning the LEAGUE CUP but I'd also love to win it simply because we havent won it before, close in '77 and robbed in '84. Plus a trophy in the 'naughties' would keep up our record of having won something in each decade since the 1960's (and yes I am including the 69/70 league title as our 70's trophy).
  15. Dont know about that. The marseilles player didnt get near the ball but at the same time didnt touch Gerrard. Surely contact needs to be made for a pen to be given. Gerrard is a cheating git, as soon as he went in the box he had plans on falling over. He's an Arse peice.
  16. Dortmund isnt it?? Apparently he didnt impress there so they probably will sell him but I think his price will go up quite a bit seeing as he's performing well.
  17. Do you find TV Ants is better quality? I do. I've almost had it with with sopcast streams. Tried watching EFC away at Villa and the damn thing kept pausing. Very annoying. Athough probably a godsend given the Everton display that day.
  18. I'm sure I remember you saying you were Hibberts biggest fan
  19. I know many love him but I have to say AJ is no good. Just no strength whatsoever. He looks like he belongs in a lower division to me. Sure he does alot of running but at this level you need a bit more than just commitment. His touch isnt good, neither is his decision making. In the 1st half when McFadden got free down the left AJ's run was poor and then AJ decided to go in the box HIDING BEHIND a defender when he should have dropped off to be found easily. Thats 1 incident, there were others, mainly involving his lack of strentgh and when he does sometimes get the ball under control in a good pozzi he often goes and ventures off to the wing (which is fine at times but not when there are other, better options available). Still a good result, even though it looked like it wasnt going to come towards the end. Thank god for Cahill being in the right place at the right time yet again. Sorry for having a pop at AJ but 'nil satis nisi optimum' and all that AND I just think he's not the best weve got (prob 4th best IMO) useful from the bench probably. I noticed a few having a go at McFadden, he was no worse than AJ tonight.
  20. From what I understand (and I could be wrong), Andy Gray was offered the managers job back in 1997 and was keen to take the job but then it emerged that he would actually be playing second fiddle to Howard Kendall so turned down the offer. So therefore I doubt whether he's be willing to play second fiddle to Moyes either. And besides hes on a good wicket at sky (and probably earning more than he would being assistant manager) plus its a secure job at sky. EDIT: Just Googled, and found that back in '97 Andy Gray (if he'd got the job) was apparently going to bring in Colin Harvey as assistant manager and his first transfer target was going to be Dwight Yorke. Oh what might have been, brand new manager, new ideas, better performances, perhaps a cup win, more revenue and The Kings Dock! (OK, maybe not).
  21. OK. This was my first game http://www.evertonfc.com/stats/?mode=fixtu...fixture_id=3394 What a team!! (Best ever team to win bugger all). My Dad took me and we were sat in the main stand. It was bloody cold too. I still remember on the day he came into my room and asked the most stupid question ever "Do you want to go the match". I was so excited, seemed like forever waiting to leave the house. And the first sight of the pitch was magic. Sadly though I dont remember the goals. What stands out about that game was 1) Dave Thomas belting down the wing (or was it Trevor Ross?). & 2) Pat Jennings making one of his famous one handed saves. 47,000 crowd. Quite impressive that.
  22. What a load of Rubbish. England proved themselves NOT WORTHY of qualifying by finishing 3rd. What makes this "journalist" think that England have a devine right to enter a tournament? (I bet he supports the RedShite). Afterall England have only ever won 1 trophy, 41 years ago!!! (and even then we had home advantage).
  23. This new ground more often than not simply gets called "The Kirkby Stadium" a bit boring I suppose but it will probably stick if it keeps getting referred as that. Similarly like the Emirates is also referred to as Ashburton Grove (although hardly not anymore) but unlike the cockneys, I think Scousers would be more likely to stick to a 'proper' name rather than a sponsers name. So at the moment its the Kirby Stadium, if it gets underway then perhaps it will start getting referred to as something else. ** As someone else mentioned, imagine naming the loop stadium, just so easy. Scottie Rd Stadium, Tunnel or Mersey End. But my guess is "The Loop" would stick.
