RuffRob got a reaction from markjazzbassist in Tom Davies
As Tom Davies has been on the scene so long it is easy to forget how young he is, only turning 22 this summer. He made his debut from the bench under Martinez so including interim managers has now played under 7 different managers since his 2016 debut. It would be fair to say he has not had the most stable or consistent environment in which to grow as a player. How many different ways he been asked to play for these different managers?
A lot has been put on on his very young shoulders, in what has been a turbulent period. A few have alluded to the fact he has been the one who has been rolling his sleeves up, when well paid seasoned pros have gone missing any shirked their responsibility. Davies has been throw in at the deep end a little and a little unfair to expect him to fix our midfield.
Given how far he has come with the club, I think at the very least he deserves a chance to mature and develop over the next 18months in more prolonged stable environment under Ancelotti and the better quality midfielders he now has around him as his senior role model. Lets give him half a season with this new look midfield and see how he comes on.
He will either sink or swim.

I know, the Kean's don't appear to the the brightest of families. Thanks be to God, that this seasons his super agent Riaola has now found a less complicated club, with less expensive and less experienced players in front of him. Just how does he do it!!!
Did he get a nice little fee for organising it for him! He knows how to manage your son alright. Thanks be to God indeed for super agents looking after talented young players.

so move to PSG to be behind Mbeppe, Neymar and Icaradi is the answer, because he don't like the fact DCL is ahead of him at Everton.

RuffRob got a reaction from Matt in Jordan Pickford
I was calling for a new keeper at the beginning of the transfer window - as simply don't think Pickford is good enough to be a top 6 goal keeper.  I got behind him at the start of the season as our no.1, but sorry I am a bag of nerves when the other team get a corner or free kick or he is being passed the ball and the opposition are pressing. That's not right.  Luckily Brighton inexplicitly choose not to cross their corners in to the box last week - other teams are not going to let Pickford off that easy.
I would love nothing more for Pickford to come good I have been willing him to have a great season, he is Everton's keeper. But he has not helped himself with his performances either last season and now the beginning of this. Ancelloti will try and back his players as best he can in public. However, even on the back of great results, if after every other game or in pre match conferences he is being asked by journalist et al about Pickfords errors and form, you don't need to be one of the worlds best managers to realise this needs addressing.
Ancelotti has given him 6 games already this season to show last year was a blip - Pickford hasn't rose to the challenge to him. There is a reason why he has been playing the cup games - Ancelloti has given him a fair crack at the whip. Saturday's blunders will have been the final straw.

Our midfield wasn't performing last season, three new players have been brought in - it now a lot better. If the goalkeeper isn't performing, to at least the minimum level you expect of him, to meet the aspirations of the club, then another player has to be brought in. We had to do it when Richard Wright was in goal - a new keeper made a massive difference - top 4!!
As a Welshman not bothered by what he does in an England shirt - but playing for England might be a welcome distraction for the lad. Done nothing wrong for Southgate - so hope Southgate sticks with him. I don't think England dropping him would help him in and Everton shirt.
I agree with @Drs1972 about some of the venomous language continually used against any poorly performing players and their perceived ability, is a little bit out of order and in the end doesn't particularly help nobody. Especially those that use social media to openly 'abuse' players on - not very nice at all, and amounts to nothing more than cowardly bullying.
However, as professional players on very good wages they all  have to be open to constructive criticism if there performance are consistently below the level that is expected of them and they must be prepared for others in the team to replace then in the starting 11, or replacement player to be brought if needed.
We want to be a top 6 team this season, so consistent top 6 or better type performances are required by all players on a consistent basis, top 12 performances are no longer acceptable.  You hear these works time and time again from Ancelloti in his interviews, focus, level of performance, consistency, motivation.
Other players are beginning to rise to this challenge, but unfortunately Pickford has not yet been able to - Period.
I think give him a clean slate and another half dozen games to get some form back, but I think if any points are dropped due to keeper blunders in these games - he goes to the bench. I am sure Ancelloti will be firm yet fair.  It's up to Pickford then.

Hearing a big thanks to everybody, even God, for getting him out of Goodison. But not one positive comment coming from his camp about Everton or the people at Everton.
Lets not be naïve, Mosie Kean can't get out the door quick enough. There was a quote leading up to the transfer, he wanted to move at 'any cost'. The painful truth is Juventus most likely where not willing to pay anywhere near what we paid for him last season to take him back, so that deal didn't materialise. Money bags PSG are going to have a punt on him thank to Riaola (they might owe him a favour or he's managed to sell him to them), his wages for 12months is peanuts to them, so why not have a good look at him and see if last summers hype about him was the real deal. If we are lucky they might take a shine to him - but given his showing both on and off the pitch in the 12months he has been with us I am not holding my breath, I am pretty sure he will let himself down once he realise there are even more better players ahead of him at PSG and game time will also not be easy to come by there, unless you earn it.
The CL is not the Carabo cup, you don't play second string players in that competition. MK will not be starting CL games for PSG, (maybe one game at the end of the group stages is you have already run away with the group and its a dead duck). He might get some sub appearances once PSG have games won.
Moving to a new city, country and language (I assume his English is most likely better than his French?) during a continued period of local lockdowns and social distancing make little sense if leaving us because he's finding it hard to adjust and home. Going back to Italy I could understand, Paris I don't.  He's already done the hardest year with regard to settling in, he has one of the worlds best managers to learn from, an Italian manager at that, he is actually at a club where there isn't 3 or 4 world class strikers in front of him, if he knuckles down and is good enough game time would have come, and the club actually want him. We are the perfect environment for somebody like him at this stage of his career. There has to be more to it than this.
I can actually put up with players coming here and in the end turning out to be a bit shit - you pay your money and you take your chances. One think I really hate is fans being made a mug of, and my spider sense is telling me we are somehow being mugged off a little my the Moise Kean circus.
I would like to see us get most of our money back on him, so I really really hope I am wrong. But my rose tinted Moise Kean glasses came off a long time ago. I will believe him coming back a better player and wanting to fight for a starting place at Goodison when I see it. I think he will find that discipline and hard work will also be needed in Paris and even then you might not get on the pitch much - so I have my doubts he will be particularly happy there either.
You might of gathered his old man's comments have pissed me off. rant over.

Been an amazing transfer window. Brought it some quality player in the right areas of the pitch, and without having to break the bank and paying sensible wages (in football terms).
What has been really interesting is listening to what wages other clubs are paying their players. I think our highest paid players are on between £100K and £140k, which is unbelievable money - and we talk about the high earners on the books.  But we are still a tier or two down on what the 'Top 6 clubs' (to which we are trying to break in to and compete with) are willing and able to pay their top players.
When you hear that a fringe player like Loftus Cheeks on £150K WTF!!! can that be right? Are Spur really paying Bale £300k a week wages (half his wages!!). Arsenal just bought Partey and his wage will be around £250K - so one player coming in on near double our highest earner and this is just scratching the surface of what these teams are paying the majority of their player. Cavani +£200K a week.
We are still nowhere near being able to operating in the same transfer market as all the top 6 teams, all of those teams simply operate to a different financial metric than us.
The sorts of wages that others are paying really put in perspective how well Brands and Co have done in getting in some genuine quality players this summer.

not sure what you mean by this? why is it wrong?
after another Pickford howler at the weekend, Brands and Co are after a loan keeper to put a little more pressure on him and to at least have a plan B if his poor form continues , Man U an Spur wouldn't loan us their 3rd keepers (apparently Man U wanted £10M for Romero!!). Nobody is going to sell there 1st/2nd keeper in the final few days of a transfer window so Olsen probably as good as your going to get as short term cover. I am sure another keeper will be high on the radar over the next 12 months.

I'm pretty certain he's saying the opposite of how it's been taken, he just worded it wrong. I reckon he means they haven't got anything wrong so far so there's no reason to think Olsen is the wrong signing.

beginning to think he must have known this move was going to happen. I am thinking that Ancelloti may have put him on of for the last few minutes at the weekend for a final run out at Goodison and a bit of closure on his Everton career.

not read great things about him, but sounds like the best we could get on loan. My hope is that it puts a rocket up Pickfords arse and the added pressure of a better keeper on the bench and the fact the manager has brought somebody in, is a catalyst to improve his own performances.
Real shame Man U wouldn't part with Romero, sounds like he was really up for coming here - he had the potential to be a 'Nigel Martyn' type purchase. Always January.

Youd think they see us as a threat, but their board must be really hard to work with. Nobody wants to sell them players and nobody seems to be able to buy theirs. That clubs only going one way long term and it doesn't look good for them.

I was thinking that - The best of the football league will be still available to balance the squad if needed, and January is not a million miles away.
Bernard's wages are a luxury at the report £140k a week.
I trust Ancelloti and Brands will do what is needed.

There could be one team that takes advantage of the strange season. Why not us?
I think we are due a bit of luck maybe more than any team. I am thinking as far back as when we missed out on European football in 1985, us being the team that lost the most from the English ban, or Collina, recognised as the worlds best ref, having an off day when we played Villareal in 2005 trying to get in to the CL group stages. I don't think anybody could begrudge us a  little bit of luck in finally getting the opportunity to play in Europe's premier competition.

and we are actually the only Premiership club to so far today to announce a signing. As good as its been so far, we still might be one of the busier clubs today - with incomings and outgoing.

I know what you mean - both lower down the pecking order than Bernard or Gordon. So not worth keeping both Walcott and Bolasie. If we can't off load Bolasie, then move Walcott on if possible as not a great deal in the quality between the pair of them.
Ideal world get both off the books.
I also thought it strange Walcott came on rather than Gordon or Bernard.

Maybe didn't quite say what I meant in the previous post
If we don't manage to get another striker, I meant simply keeping hold of a disgruntled Kean won't be the difference between success and failure this season.
I'll be a little disappointed if we don't get another striker in, as I hope 'twist' and go for it a little more given the momentum. If it wasn't for FFP rules I am sure we would bring somebody in.
