Not debating, just clarifying. The original question was if we were a Christian country.
I responded to this in my OP by saying: 'We haven't been a Christian country for a long time - if you mean by that a country where the majority of people attend church and believe in the Gospels.'
As only 6% of the population are practising Christians and church attendance is beneath a million, that does tend to back up my point.
If you disagree, that's fine.

I understand your point about the 47% of nominal Christians in the Census (though disagree with your interpretation) but I do think you are on much firmer ground when you say we are still a country of religion.

But we shouldn’t be defending atrocities against people by judging them against other atrocities, as if to say it’s no different so therefore what’s the problem. 

At what point will Israel become the guilty party? How many deaths is enough for them to be satisfied their "self defence" action is complete? When everyone in Gaza is dead it would seem.

Steady on, we don't roll that way around here...if you disagree with someone you have to threaten to punch them, or at least start bearing false witness against them (coveting their wife is another option)

The fact you go to church doesn't make us a Christian country. In the same way, you going to play golf doesn't make us a golfing country.
I was very specific in my OP - 'a country where the majority of people attend church and believe in the Gospels'. We are simply not that. 
46.2% of the country describe themselves (nominally on the Census form) as Christian. That is less than half, therefore more than half subscribe to other beliefs or none.
As of January 2024, belief in God in the UK stands at 30%. Not believing in God stands at 37%. UK belief in God 2024 | Statista. Faith Survey | Christianity in the UK splits it 28% / 38%.
Of those regarding themselves as Christian, how many go to church? Church attendance figures rise but still below pre-pandemic levels | The Independent 654000 Let's be generous and call it a million (pre-pandemic levels). That's about the same as the number of Muslims regularly attending mosques in the UK. Ironically, in lieu of the point about immigration which prompted my post, Church attendance has actually been bolstered by immigration.

The facts speak for themselves.
I would agree the country is steeped in Christian heritage and there are, of course, aspects of the constitution in which Christianity enjoys special privilege - maybe this is what you were claiming?
