Matt
Seems there's a few of you crazy kids who actually like cricket enough to deserve its own thread Used to play as a kid, and seen 2 live games in Australia (where I shook hands with Brian Lara and Courtney Walsh) but since then I've lost interest in the whole thing. Don't get coverage in Europe really, which hasn't helped. Anyway. Go nuts

Romey 1878
I think it's safe to say that England won't be winning this one!
MikeO
Seems we're going to snatch a draw from the jaws of victory in this series then, same as in the Windies. At least we're consistent.
johnh
I struck a bet yesterday, before England started their innings, that we would score less than 250. I think I was being overly optimistic. If ever a player needs to be told to go away and find some form it is Bell. Not only is his batting dire but he can't hold a catch - and he's a slip fielder! The odds are, though, that he will take his poor form into the Ashes against the Aussies.

MikeO
After the capitulation this morning the tail have done well to keep it going this long. There are a few encouraging signs but Bell and Ballance are a worry. Century for Buttler now and a fifty from Anderson and we're home free.....any rain forecast anyone know? Been pissing it down here most of the day so a shame the match wasn't in Taunton.

Cornish Steve
One key difference was the fielding. England dropped many chances, whereas NZ seemed to make even the most difficult of catches.
Paddock
We can't bat under pressure it's that simple. Cricket is a game of the mind. You come out with a realistic chance of making a target set you have a chance. Once it's impossible (time wise in the game) to beat a total teams collapse. It's psychological in them. They start thinking and playing defensively, they dither playing shots and wickets tumble. It's a hard game to defend in.

Cornish Steve
What a shame about Kieswetter having to retire. Yes, it is. The ball went through the grille on his helmet. Does that mean the helmet manufacturer is liable? At least he could retire financially secure.

I'm liking that no ones panicked when wickets have gone. Each player that's come out has just had a go and not let what's happened before affect them. We'll at least get more than NZ managed the other day, so even if we lose we should make a good go of it.

We need someone to step up with a big ton here snd at least a 60-70 run support alongside. One more wicket and it swings massively in their favour. Personally I think we wont make 300 but hope I'm wrong.

Paddock
At least we're having a go. I'd sooner us go down fighting than bat like a straight man in a gay bar and plod on through all our overs never even remotely getting within a chance. Really encouraged by these 2 performances. Our bowling let us down today, that was a massive total and always hugely unlikely we would get within 50 of it. Lights come on the ball starts moving about more, it's harder to pick up in the fading light, pitch gets slippy etc etc. MikeO

That fucking DL result is a swizz when you get shafted. Always great when it works in your favour like but that's not the point on this occasion I feel totally deflated now, I was literally on the edge of my seat watching that. MikeO
Ridiculous, the D/L system needs changing, I know it's a nigh on impossible task to make it fair but this is stupid, We needed nine an over but now we need (all but) seventeen. "Right, we've got a revised 46-over game, restarting at 21.10 BST. England's revised target is 379. So, England need 34 runs off 13 balls. On telly, Ian Botham looks absolutely apoplectic."
