s-mackie reacted to verreauxi in Gerard Deulofeu
Deulofeu's got a lot of potential, but in my mind his whole schtick at present is 90% fake-left-step-over-move/shoot right; and it's more than a bit predictable. He's pesky and effective in certain situations and I'm not knocking him for that, but he can be shut down pretty quick by an astute defense. Fortunately for him he's young so I hope to see his game get more versatile.

    Still not over him Dunc???

Just for the record, Arsenal, and Man United got battered against the same Liverpool team. We drew 1-1 with Arsenal at the Emirates and were outstanding (nah forget that game, pick the one where we lost a completely flattering scoreline and could have actually won the game)....

You love and loyalty for your ex manager is diluting the credit that Martinez deserves for this season.

You go on to state that Roberto has had a good season on a negative net spend because he sold one of Moyes players??? Isn't that what Moyes did in finishing 4th when we sold Rooney for £28m?

So you can say Martinez has performed well with Moyes old players??? I disagree, relative to the time spent Martinez has been regularly using Barry, McCarthy, Lukaku, Deulofeu, Stones, Barkley, Oviedo - over 50% of a starting 11 that Moyes didn't use (yeah notice Barkley, Ovideo and Stones)

Meanwhile usding the same argument, our old manager has taken the champions, spent £70m, has inherited Januazaj and taken them to mid table... Genius.

Never mind those facts, you just keep on defending Moyes. BTW a united fans group have paid to have a plane fly a banner for "Moyes out" - not sure if you can stop them. Personally I think I want him there, it frees up a place for us to get in the top 4.

"They will be looking over their shoulder now," said McCarthy. "Obviously they will be a bit worried but we take it a game at a time and we have a big game against Newcastle. We have never written ourselves off for a top-four finish. We will give it our best shot. We will keep playing until it is mathematically impossible. We have eight points between us and Arsenal and we have a game in hand, plus Arsenal to come here. It's still open and we will give it our best shot. We are still confident we can achieve something big here this season."

Think this is fantastic to see. The optimism that's been instilled into the squad is pretty evident. Still strongly believe that this mentality will pay off at some point in the not too distant future..

Would be much more beneficial to provide cover for Mirallas rather than sell him.

So why is Naismith getting these chances?.... Simple, he's looking for them. Lukaku's movement is like a HGV. He's static.

I think Martinez is the man to get the best out of him, more than any other manager in the prem. As he did with Maloney, a player who struggled at Villa but became a real talisman for Wigan. Roberto gets players expressing themselves with confidence, the word negativity just isn't in his vocabulary

Been socuting around Wigan forums and they were very very impressed with him when he came on in the second half as a RB. Said whenever he was in a 50/50 challenge he simply brushed them off with ease. Was bombing up and down the wing apparently and is very very quick. Really excited about him now. Has any one else heard that Stubbs has called Browning the best 1 v 1 defender in the club (including senior members)? Hell of a compliment that when I personally think Jags is one of the best in the prem in 1 v 1. Looks a right beast of a player who has incredible physical attributes.

Have to feel a bit sorry for Wednesday's opposition at the weekend, I do hope they can sort themselves out. What the fuck were they thinking, keeping hold of Jewell for so long, or even appointing him in the first place.

I tried long and hard finding some match highights from the game at Portman Road on saturday and Barkley's goals, but on the respective sites, highlights are only available to subscribers, and on youtube there was nothing to be had. He is doing well for himself up there though.

For fucks sake, Mucha ain't good but you can't single him out. The only thing he's done wrong in that first half is not come for the corner.

If I was Moyes I'd pretty much stick with how we are, a good bollocking should kick our team into action and turn this tie around, the only change I'd make would be Junior off and Jelavic on and go 4-4-1-1 with Vic playing behind Jelly as a link-up man.

Leeds are very, very average but unfortunatly so are we. Diouf is always a massive, massive twat.

I really like McGeady, with me having a soft spot for Celtic I'd rather he go there should we miss out on him than the likes of Sunderland. I'd love to have him here but I'm unsure how he'd fit in to our set-up now, we have Naismith and Pienaar on the wings so I'd only ever see him as cover (which is a great shame).
