  1. Without a doubt he will do a job for us. He will be busting a gut to get into the England side. Gibbo struggles to stay fit, despite his great start to this season I still feel Barkley needs a little protection and shouldn't be over played at this stage. With a few more numbers and versatility in our midfield it should give us a little more flexibility over formations. In summary I was against it but have now changed my mind

  2. Whilst I agree with some of the vic bashing i did think he had made improvements last year. i'm still convinced he has the aptitude but is let down by his attitude. i agree that a change of scenery may be just what he needs - a little less pressure perhaps as I guess i'm not alone in having had high hopes a few years ago for him. If he could stay fit and get a run of games then he could be half decent and about half the player Lukaku is :jump for joy:

If only we could have persuaded the baggies to take Naismith as well

  3. I can see it now - 10.59 Fellaini moves to Manchester United, Gareth Barry moves to Everton on a 5 year deal for £3million.

    :major overreaction alert: :crying:

And £5million in wages per year, wiping out any profit from the fellaini sale. The good thing about being an Everton fan is you know you will be disappointed, its just a case of how often and how much

  4. I don't think he ever rejected us but we were interested in picking him up on a free which would have been during this window. Spurs paid a fee to get him early and then didnt seem to want to play him. I still think he is a good player but needs game time to get to grips with the prem - this is why I would be reluctant to take him on loan as either way it works out is kind of bad

1- Turns out to be a sack of brown stuff

2- Is brilliant and we return him to Tottenham an established player

Very little in it for us

  5. Interest is one thing a firm offer is another. Fellaini would look pretty stupid marching in and demanding a move only to be told no offer had been forthcoming. For me it works like this, they offer £16 million for Fellaini - we reject this offer but Fellaini makes it clear he want to leave - they come back with a final £20 million take it or leave it offer, we then either take it or reject it. The rejection sees us have a player who is unsettled the acceptance sees us lose a player for less than his true value

  6. Maybe this is just part of the European football culture that I don't understand, but can someone explain to me why this is a big deal? I find it mildly annoying that they keep sending these underwhelming bids but it seems like a lot of you are genuinely pissed off about it. I'm sure it's a pain in the ass for the board and Martinez to deal with but I don't really see how it affects us or the club. Hopefully someone can enlighten me.

For me its a big deal as they are attempting to unsettle our players and force our hand into selling. If Baines and Fellaini are interested in leaving, this offer could push them into asking for the move and weakens our prospects of holding out for top dollar. The supposed "big clubs" try these underhand tactics all the time to unsettle players and bully clubs into selling their prize assets.

It seemed like they tried to do it with Cesc Fabregas but you cant unsettle a Barcelona player (already playing for a top club) and can't bully Barcelona into accepting a bid

  7. 1- Didn't think he would get the job. His brand of football will not appeal to many but I wish him luck and perhaps with more cash to spend and the expectations he may try to be a little more expressive.

2- Very happy with Martinez, too much read into Wigans relegation and much prefer getting a manager with prem experience than a supposed big name from abroad. Also believe he will get us playing a better brand of football and if Moyes was still our manager Deuolefou would not be on loan here for a year.

3- No hope of future big cash flows when people take the piss with £30 million offers for 2 of our best players :shaking fist:

    4- I don't like change

5- Personally I think you want rid but don't want to sell to a rival, if an offer came from the continent he would be gone

6- Usual contenders I reckon with spurs/arsenal fighting out for 4th. I think the spots below will be very competitive as a lot of mid-table clubs have strenghtened

7- You need a combative strong midfielder, maybe another centre back as ferdinand ages and imo evans proves he is toilet, smalling and jones seem injury prone

8- I don't see Liverpool as a barometer for our success and finishing above them means nothing. I wouldn't want that to be a goal for us going into a season. It means more to them which speaks volumes

9- I think in the short term we may go backwards as we adjust to life under Martinez. The more expansive football Im expecting us to play might make us easier to beat however I go into this season with probably more optimism than the last few and look forward to seeing what Bobby can draw out of our more creative players and certainly more opportunities for our youngsters

10- Right up there I would imagine and you can look forward to everybody behind the ball when 1-0 up in the manc derby
