Sibdane reacted to Romey 1878 in Nikica Jelavic
With us getting a new manager I definitely don't want him sold in the summer. I'd like to see what a new manager (and therefore new ideas, ways of playing) could get out of him.

Agree 100% I want this to happen. And I want Martinez (and McCarthy and perhaps Kone)

I'll be honest; I don't feel unnerved in the slightest, I actually feel lighter and a bit giddy.
I can understand the fear that some people have but some are acting like we're fucked.
I was far more devastated when Rooney left.

To be fair he showed a good attitude when he was fighting relegation with Blackburn.
He is a talented player who will do well at the right clubs but unfortunately he (and/or his advisors) chose greed over a stable football club.

The only difference between last years Jelavic and this years Jelavic is Tony Hibbert. He was on the pitch when Jelavic was brilliant last season. Its because Hibbo was such a goal scoring threat that Jelavic got so much space. Get Hibbo on and see Jelly bloom

Michu, Benteke, Remy, Ba, all quality and within the £££ of what we have paid before. They are out there. It's a time old argument/criticism of moyes that he struggles to get consecutive seasons out of a striker. 11 years is long enough to get a gauge that this is not a coincidence. I'd love for it not to be true but i'm afraid that stats don't look good.

fair point Steve, but if I'm the manager and see players being lazy but scoring (which is their job) then push them to work and see the goals dry up, I would revert back to letting them be lazy to get the goals in. Then, end of the season, sell the lazy bastard for an inflated price and try again. Unless of course, the team accept the laziness in return for goals, in which case is keep the lazy striker. -

I'll be happy with a win, and unhappy with anything else. They are without their best player, and our guys are fighting for Europe. I know everyone is tired, but there is only 4 1/2 more hours of football this term.

Sang to Amore). When you live on a farm And you bite someones arm That's a Suarez ... When your forehead is wide And your teeth are offside, That's a Suarez .... When you dive for a pen Over and over again, That's a Suarez ...... When your gums are so tight Like you've strained for a shite, That's a Suarez

I'm just hoping we don't do our usual roll over and die act for them like we usually do at Anfield. I really couldn't cope with that again.
If we go down, lets go down fighting.

To be fair, Vic couldn't get much worse. I wonder if Vic will ever hit 15-20 goals.

Wigan was matching MCity in their last league clash and was unlucky to lose -
played attractive attacking football against a top side -
I think Martinez has the personality and skills to turn Everton into a real threat for the top 5 instead of propping them up like we have for the past 10 years under Mr Moyes -
unlike other bottom sides I enjoy watching Wigan play - very creative and flowing stuff

Sibdane reacted to Bailey in Nikica Jelavic
Top class maybe a bit strong but I do think he has the ability to be one of the better strikers in the Premier League. He isnt a Tevez or RVP etc but IMO he can be the rung below them. Some of his finishing last year and for Rangers was ruthless, much like Torres' used to be I guess! I think that if you get his confidence up and give him a consistent level of service then he will score 10-15 league goals a season, every season.
My general worry is that pretty much every one of our better strikers has turned up, banged goals in for fun and then struggled until they looked a shell of the striker they used to be. Beattie, AJ, Yak, Saha, Cahill in some ways and now Jelavic. The only one to improve is Vic!

I would love Martinez. Wigan would've been relegated awhile ago without him.

What I meant by that is Osman SHOULD have been doing that, but to no avail. That's why I went on to say Barkely could be the man to do it.
I don't agree that he has been working off scraps, Baines has created more goal scoring opportunities than anyone in the league.
Yes his confidence is shot but he's been missing opportunites since the start of the season so it's not like there's been a sudden down turn. I think Fellaini playing higher up has affected him but at the same time, Jelavic scored a lot of his goals from crosses/passes from out wide, they weren't all through balls like people seem to think on here.

Sibdane reacted to Hafnia in If Moyes goes?
Unbelievable the shuffling Martinez has had to do. He will never be considered great whilst at Wigan, because people really don't appreciate how little he works with, they just say "always struggles with relegation".
I mentioned in the Jelavic thread that I would like to see Diame come in as a swap for Jelavic if West Ham want him... Diame is being watched by Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool. Now where did he come from??? Wigan. Another one of the players Martinez plucked from nowhere for £3m who elevated himself above Wigans salary structure and left on a free transfer.
Diame was bought in to replace Cattermole, brought in at the same time he signed Victor Moses for £2.5m (sold on for £9m) - the same time he also bought in James McCarthy for a nominal fee - a class act. Did I mention that was also the same season he got Jordi Gomez for £1.7m?
He signed alcaraz for free, shaun maloney for £1m, Kone for £2.7m, Al Habsi for £4m. Granted, he signed Boselli for £6.5m - a waste but hasn't every manager signed the odd nugget.

I think that sounds like a promising partnership, Martinez and Neville. Although i do think Neville has manager written all over him, and potentially a good one at that

Sibdane reacted to Romey 1878 in Is this the new crest?
It's not the change that bothers me tbh. It's that the new badge looks cheap and tacky. Look at Spurs and even the shite for how classy a badge change can look.

Sibdane reacted to Zoo in Is this the new crest?
I think all motto's have a good meaning with football clubs. I actually like Tottenham's old motto which was 'To Dare is to Do' although after they changed the badge they too dropped it from the crest.
I'm not overly happy with Nil Satis being dropped from the badge but I'd still be happy if it's still implemented throughout the football club. (i.e. - on the advertising boards around the stadium, on merchandise etc...)
