It might be a good thing we held back a bit upon reflection, Villa goal included.
 
We don't want to burn out too early, and if it was a deliberate "Right lads, let's all stay fit and save a bit for mid-week" then it will be a good thing. The last thing we want is teams parking the bus because they're concerned about our form. Stay under the radar, and a better chance of delivering the big bombs.

He was given player of the year, but he's hardly played in Central defence long enough to prove he is our best.
 
For me, Distin is our best Central defender, as he has it all despite his age.

I still don't think Lambert should have left Norwich. I appreciate Villa is a big job, but I've seen so many managers go from having great success at their own club, to being out of a job within a year or so after moving to a bigger club. There were still challenges there at Norwich that I felt he should have met a little longer.

Nope - I'm giving it to the player who is seen to have been the best player in the match the most times. The thread is after all a 'man of the match' thread, and not a 'player of the year thread'.
 
I think at the end of the season, you could look back on the year and discuss the player of the year as a seperate thread, guided by the results of the motm threads.

I think we need to look at Villa and see what happened with them in a very short space of time as a consequence of selling their best / better players.

I'm a bit worried about the coverage that game got, and the big spenders who will have been watching. Let's hope when Mancini finally took his dick out of his hand it wasn't to write a blank cheque.
