  1. I think I'd take a draw at this point. I've no idea how we will set up or turn up. And with no real attacking threat, I fear we may struggle up front. However, I'd also take a loss if it looks like we actually have an idea of how to play winning football.
  2. What about that guy from the other night who scored a penalty for us? At least he's got 100% scoring record. I can see it now... We play ten at the back till the 89th minute, then hit them on the counter by surprise. Anthony Gordon sets off towards their goal, gets inside the box, one stepover, two stopovers, knocks it round a panicking Arrizabalaga, who in desperation sweeps the through-on-goal Gordon's legs away with his outstretched left hand. Down goes Gordon, the referee whistles. Chelsea players surround him, as from the darkness of the tunnel emerges our hero... He takes off his hoodie and performs a couple of stretches as Anthony Gordon hobbles toward the dugout. Our hero heeds a few last words of advice from the manager before trotting calmly towards the penalty spot. He doesn't even check the position of the ball. As the referee blows, our hero trots straight up to the ball. He gives the keeper the eye, sending him flying to the left as he keenly Panenka's the stricken Arrizabalaga straight down the middle. The crowd goes wild, some people are on the pitch, they think it's all over.... but it's not, Everton get fined £200,000 for fielding an ineligible player, and the match is ruled void, a further fine of £500,000 for the pitch invasion, and ordered to play the next 6 games with no home fans. Meanwhile, DCL is spotted coming out of a hairdressers while the match is on. Shit! Can we put Keane up front?
  3. Wouldn't these conversations have taken place earlier? Don't they have conversations beforehand about which players they want to pursue? If there were objections to this or any other signing wouldn't they have been raised earlier on in the process?
  4. I think the club need to come out and make this point. I'd like to see Frank during his pre-match make reference to this, that there will be consequences not only for the club but for individuals as well. It might also be worth getting the players to do a short clip thanking the fans for their support but that they need to stay in their seats for everyone's safety. I'm afraid this pitch invasion nonsense is becoming a bit of a habit with us. And it's bound to end on tears.
  5. That pitch invasion malarkey needs to stop. That was embarrassing last night. That happens next week and the FA are gonna make an example of us quite quickly I feel.
  6. I was think that with all the Burnley and Chelsea players we've been linked to we'd have to change our name to Churnley United or something.
  7. Apparently in for him according to the twitterverse
  8. The question about what his beliefs are with regard to homosexuality is rather here nor there. Homosexuality is a fact, a biological fact that has been proven in many scientific studies, not just in humans, but in hundreds of species. I don't know what his real actual position is, as all I have heard and read is hearsay on forums, social media and newsites. However, I will say this, there are unfortunately many people who still need to be educated on the difference between fact and belief. He may not like it, he may not want to participate in it, and that is fine. In fact I'd go as far as to say that that is normal. Whether he wants to promote it, well, I guess that's up to him. On the question of whether a person's employers, or anyone else for that matter, can tell someone them what to support or believe or promote. Well, I don't think they should have that right. People should be free to make their own educated decisions about which causes/movements they want to participate in. As for whether I'd have him back... No, but not for the reasons stated above. For me his age is the dissuading factor.
  9. Pretty much what I was trying to say in the Barkley thread. Although you probably put it more succinctly.
  10. I'm not overly excited about this. From my memory, when he was here, I remember him getting shit loads of stick and his decision making was way off the mark, however, I thought he was a player with great potential. The question in my mind now is, he's 28, theoretically in his prime, but has he shown in the time he's been away that he has developed and is now reaching his full potential. In all honesty, I haven't been following his career too closely, but he doesn't seem to have set the world alight in any way - when did he last play for England? (googled it: 2019). Actually, reading his Wikipedia page I quote: "Barcelona midfielder Xavi said in November 2014 that Barkley is good enough to play for the La Liga club..." Hmm... If he comes, I hope he does well. However, I'm not excited for the discussions that'll be happening on TT if he does.
  11. Interesting point of view...The following situation springs to mind. If your employer implemented a Red T-Shite Friday at work*, where you had to come in jeans and a red Liverpool t-shite, you'd say no, right? Why? Well, for similar reasons as the guy stated above; that it would go against your beliefs - everyone knows that Royal Blue is the best colour of t-shirt. * probably for some charitable reason like supporting people who have made terrible decisions in their lives. On a more serious note, and way off topic, I feel this whole issue of equality creates more division that it aims to solve. I don't see how separating people into groups solves the problem of equality for the individual. As long as we divide ourselves into groups, it will always be us against them. I think, more fundamentally, people, and we as a society, need to be more accepting of the fact that everyone is different, has different beliefs, opinions and ways of expressing themselves, and that is ok. This is also, btw, why I think this forum is the best on the planet, as its members constantly show these qualities and are a true beacon for humanity.
  12. Come on Mike! We're entering a world where words don't have common meanings anymore. Each word means something different for everyone and there is no right or wrong way to self-define any word (or combination of words). Imposing your narrow-minded, ideological, political, toxic-masculinity system of defining words on other people is wrong, hurtful and hateful. We live in a culture where lots of people have lots of different beliefs and definitions for all kinds of words. We cannot say 'I have this definition system and so therefore, I'm going to impose this on everyone.' You can't do that! This is 2022 and we have to be much more inclusive. ... Btw... to join you on the bandwagon, that comma after 'at least'
  13. If we could get Jacques Russell on the right and Gordon Setter in as DM, we'd have the dogs of war back.
  14. If he goes then we'd better have a replacement lined up! With him gone, we'd have absolutely no one in the 'player with decent hair' department.
  15. I had the understanding that the typical timeframe was 48 hours.
  16. That's a bit random init? I don't really get where you're coming from with that comment. Seems to me like you're putting 2 and 2 together to get σₓσₚ ≥ h/4π
  17. Don't like the sound of that. If DCL is gonna be off doing those photoshoots again all season, then we're in for another torrid season.
  18. Is there an actual article on that page or is it just a page of ads and links to other pages?
  19. When I think about Keane these days, I think about his interview after (I think it was) the Crystal Palace match. You could see his emotion, and that it did matter to him. However, on the same note, it kind of showed how much of an emotional player he is - when the going's good, he's (carefully choosing words...) decent, but when the shit hits the fan he becomes a liability. And as has been said, he's very much a confidence player. That's my impression of him at least. The question is are we good enough to carry such players; players who need a good run of form (probably not just individually but also as a team). Probably not! Which indicates that we probably need someone else in here. Having said that - whenever I've watched the training clips on YouTube, he seems to be banging them in - I'm pretty sure there is a legitimate shout for him to be pushed up front Imagine the fear he could put into defenders knowing that he can score goals like the one he scored recently - blocking the cross with one leg, then expertly diverting the ball onto his other knee and straight past the bewildered goalkeeper. Genius! Harry fucking who!
  20. You've been reading too much news about the Russia-Ukraine war me thinks. However, I understand the method in your madness.
  21. That sounds like one of those things you say trying to be funny and sarcastic, and then realise how true it probably is.
