Can we have it written into both their contracts that they are obligated NOT to be injured at the same time?

the thing is though...the market is inflated at the moment. look at Victor having a bid of 6million for him...thats about 2-3million more than we would have got last year. i think 12million is a fair price for him, and should improve the squad.

You should take into account that Eriksen only had 1 year on his contract left, will be earning much more (which will make him the more expensive player, despite the transfer fee) and wouldn't have wanted to come here even if we tried.

fucking shit. why the fuck wasnt he going for them when we had them on the rocks? sit back and defend? Teams have us mesured! pump balls into our box and defenders flake. really fucked off for the weekend now.

I would normally agree with you but its not often a keeper like Butland becomes available, especially at a knock down price . So I just think if there is anyway we can do this deal then we should strike while the iron is hot

Yes I read it. Thanks for that.

Sadly another player of wasted potential. I was actually quite excited when we got to sign him at the time, but it just wasn't to be.

Jesus Pete , Gibson is injury prone yet Rodwell is just unlucky??

Baines IS a top class player NOW . and has years left in him

We have no cover fo Baines so would need to spend any money we got for him to buy another LB who probably wooldnt be as good ( after banks have had their cut) , so no real benefit in selling

Rodwell MAY or MAY NOT be a top class player in years to come

We have plenty of other options in centre midfield some who are younger and have just as much if not more potential than Rodwell so we therefore do not need to spend a penny replacing him. This leaves us money to bring in players who can strengthen the squad in other areas ie upfront or right mid

I liked Rodwell and wish him all the best , but it really is a no brainer

we could do with him leaving just to freshing up our tactics - Priceless!

Lol Have you just got it in for Baines because he is mates with Piennar?

Its called business, players get sold and yet again youre only looking at 1 side of the coin. But the difference between last few years and coming future is that theres a massive bumper TV deal which makes us more financially stable, weve cleared a lot of wage bill in the last 12 months, Baines doesnt want to go, Felli is 9 months into a new contract and we've apparently just paid of 4 mortgages. Stop looking at the past and look at whats coming, thats why im saying its nonsense.

15 mill for a player who plays one game in roughly three is a top level piece of bargaining imo, sad to see him go, mainly because of his dynamic qualities, hope his injury record is a thing of the past but doubt it.............

Madmatt reacted to Louis in New mortgage taken out by EFC
It's not as straight forward as that.. this is good news but it's difficult to calculate how much was paid off. I calculated that the four mortgages involved around 58m(!) being borrowed against, that's not necessarily debt.

I imagine that we'll sell Rodwell, use some money for transfers (spread over duration of incoming players' contracts), the rest of the money will be used for cashflow. The club are now free of all but the major mortgage (the one that's secured against Goodison for 25 years),as of next season the Premier League income will double so it'll be plain sailing and the finances look a lot better..

What is interesting,is that the fourth mortgage listed that was paid off was actually borrowed against this season (2012/13)'s money which won't be paid for another year, yet has been paid off last week.

Good to hear we are starting to get a grip of the debt. Very positive news as far as I am concerned.

    Really good game from us today and one which has me really excited for the Manchester United game in a few weeks;

Howard - Was pretty quiet but did what he needed to well, I was a bit dissapointed that he got nothing on the Athens goal but in all fairness it was a rocket and would have took some stopping. He's a step up from Mucha and someone who I'm happy keeping our goal safe - nice game.

Baines/Heitinga/Distin - Solid performance at the back from the Everton lads today and Athens never looked like scoring after their goal in the first half, we shut up shop really well and look in good form for the start of next season, if we play like we did tonight I can see us being a really good defensive unit for the year ahead. (was especially nice to see Baines linking up with Pienaar too throughout the game ).

Hibbert - Class performance as always from Hibbo, a fanstastic strike for his first goal and one which was met with true Everton rioting. Made up for the man and I just hope that he can grab one in the Premiership too.

Osman/Gibson - Both rather quiet but did what they needed to well, Gibbo bombed into a few tackles a bit wildly and looked a bit clumsy but I'm sure once the Premier League kicks in he'll settle down.

Pienaar - I'm his biggest critic over the whole saga this summer but he was a really good today, he set our attacks alight and linked up really well with Baines to show some Everton' attacks that reminded me of last season, I get the feeling that with these two down our wing we will do really well (as we already know what they can do).

Fellaini - Bossed the midfield as usual and looked rather better in his new attacking-role, if he can bring the ball out of the air and walk around defenders in the middle of the park then I see no reason why he can't do it in the box, I think he's going to be even more valuable to us this season than ever before.

Naismith - Hat-trick on his home debut, can we really complain? The first goal was pure class, lobbing the goalkeeper so calmly just seconds into the game and looking totally at home in an Everton shirt, I was slightly skeptical about him when he joined but I have to say he's got me really excited, his first two goals were well taken and the third was a real poachers goal, smashing home from close range - MOTM.

Jelavic - Looked off the pace and was very average. He's probably only just getting into match fitness though so I'm not worrying just yet, I'm sure once he's 100% him and Naismith will be lethal.

Mucha - OK game. (nice clean sheet) but flapped at a corner which wasn't really much trouble and seemed a little all over the place, I'm happy he's number two but I think he's only ever going to be that for us.

Neville - Sad to say but I think he's going to slowly move out of our team, he looked off the pace as soon as he came on and considering that he was fresh and the Athens lads had been playing an hour is a worry, he was turned all over the place and had to have the likes of Baines and Distin cover him when he was turned inside and out. I like Phil but I think his days of starting (and playing the full 90) are going to be behind him soon.

Rodwell/Gueye/Duffy/Barkley/Vellios/Anichebe - All did what the had to well enough, nothing stood out as magical from them but nothing stood out for the wrong reasons either. I didn't see anything that would make me want to put them in the Starting XI but I'm glad we have them at our disposal.

All in all a good game, 4 goals at home and three from our new signing who looks like a class act. 2012/13 is promising.

not sure how it's a risk myself...he works in our team..not just with baines..other players might not work..we need players to get us to europe to get the extra money and i'd rather not take a risk on a maybe and they turn out to be another bily..pienaar can help us get up the league
