Pre-season Friendlies

Were meant to be setting a good example for Everton and were ment to be showing that we are one of the best clubs in the premier league not getting beat 2-0 by Chicago Fire. Yes we didn't have a strong team out but am still dissapointed at the scoreline.

This is getting worrying. Get Signing MOYES!

100% Agree!

This is getting very worrying, it looks like a very very poor performance in every game, you always have to win this kind of games and at minimum a few pre-season games if you have so much like us. I´m getting a little bit afraid with the time, its not acceptable...

We were pretty much crap. No one in the center of midfield to dictate play going forward. In the first half we had most of the possession but never really threatened going forward. In the second half we fell out of it more and more.

Ossie really was the only bright spot, I think it would have been a different game if we'd started him.

As to Vaughan's card my mate was in the first rows right in front of it and said the ball took a funny bounce as he was going in with his tackle. Striker's tackle and a bit heavy but not malicious.

Can remember many happy pre-seasons in the last forty odd years when we've strolled through the friendlies and I've thought, "We're on for a good one this year" only to be left in mid table obscurity or a relegation fight come Easter.

This is the most depressing off-season since 2004....but look what happened then (grasps at straw) :) .

Anyway, interesting side out against PSV....

Howard

Neville

Jagielka

Yobo

Baines

Osman

Rodwell

Gosling

Arteta

Pienaar

Yakubu

Wouldn supprise me if this is the team that starts against Blackburn apart from Lescott playing and Jags in the midfield

Goes to show how short we are when you look at the bench and think there is only Cahill that is missing from the team and most of the bench was youngsters

We need a specialised and established DM badly. Jagielka is NOT a defensive midfielder and we can't rely on Rodwell to be a starting player just get, get M'Bia and fast. Our players today just gave the ball to Arteta and then stood around waiting for him to do something

We need players and a massive improvement by next week otherwise we could start the season with a loss, which hasn't happened for a few seasons now.

I didnt actually see Rodwell make that many tackles, but was pleased with Gosling, he's not afraid to run at defenders and looks comfortable on the ball, but the end pass never came off, lost it too many times but that will come with experience.

PSV looked a usefull side who were only at half pace.

For anyone who was there what was it like with the fans and the team. Was there many people there to watch it was the people showing not happy about the pre seaso

shit game, shit atmosphere. only good part was my mate getting clapped at at the beggining for telling a psv player to shut the fuck up.

no more than 10,000 there. was bloody awful. we need players and fast.

baines had a shit game, kept giving the ball away. the yak was shit till last 5 mins, arteta looked lively when on the ball

was expecting to raise moral with fans (over the tanoid) "ladies and gentlemen we have a special anouncement - we have a new player amoungst the squad" ala smith.

I thought it was an encouraging performance. Rodwell certainly looks ready to contend around the first team - gosling looks bright too. Ossie looked quality as usual on the ball (great first touch!) but light-weight on occassions - baines looked shakey at times but bombed forward willingly.

We've got some good young players coming through - we must remember 5 of our players last night couldn't get into the bar for post-match drinks as they're still 16 or 17 - this against champions league opposition. At no point did PSV totally dominate - we looked the better team for the most part of the game.

Yak looked a little lonely up front but this will be addressed - as will issues in other areas of the pitch and moyes will address these before aug 31st - if the right players are there for the right price he will sell the club to them - the rest is up to them. Until then, we've got 5 very winnable opening games to the season that i'm sure last nights team with a few new faces settling in will get us 10-15 points on the board and a strong start to the season and set us up nicely for our 6th game!

Went the game....Thought Mikel looked sharp and back to full fitness

Rodwell looks a prospect, he probably done a better job Neville and better than Carsley would have done last season at such a young age, he looked composed on the ball and always asked for it when he was in a decent position to recieve it, and then moved it on without hitting one long ball all game.

defense looked dogey, Yobo and Jagielka seriously need to just play the ball from the back, all these long balls only end up coming back to them with the other team on the ball.

The Yak done ok at times but he didnt get much support and I couldnt remember 1 through ball to him all game.

A few players and we will probably do well this season.

Was it just me or did Lukas look a Joke, no fitness, slow, shit on the ball, what the hell did moyes see in him?

"It has not, been an easy summer at Goodison Park but the picture is nowhere near as bleak as some would wish to paint it; when Moyes has his first choice XI available and experience on the bench, that is the time to really start judging. Once that happens, Everton will win far more matches than they lose. Good sides do not become bad ones overnight."
