The Transfer Window Thread

Recommended Posts

Responding to the continued speculation linking Cristiano Ronaldo with a move away from the club, full-back Evra admitted he did not know whether the Portuguese winger would stay or go but did highlight a ready-made replacement. Ribery has been in scintillating form for a struggling Bayern Munich side this year and is sure to attract plenty of interest in the summer.

I thought that Ribery was set to join FC Barcelona?

Barry in talks with Man City, as confirmed by Villa.

I'd be livid as a Villa fan if he went there. It would prove he wa clearly motivated by money. He states that he wants to leave Villa to get Champions League football, and after the 11 or so years service he gave to the club i dont think many would stand in his way. But City? They are not even in Europe next season and I can't see them breaking the top 4 next year either. Money money money. If Barry goes then clearly he is just a greedy bastard.

GARETH BARRY will be wearing a sky blue shirt next season after Mark Hughes today clinched a £12million move from Aston Villa to the City of Manchester Stadium for the highly-rated England midfielder.

The 28-year-old Barry, who has become a talismanic captain during 12 years and almost 400 games at Villa Park, was a target for several Premier League clubs following a high-profile chase by Liverpool last summer.

The former England Under-21 skipper's ability, versatility and character made Hastings-born Barry a natural priority target as ambitious manager Hughes tackles the second phase of his Blues revolution.

With Player of the Year Stevie Ireland having committed himself to a further five years at City, Barry's arrival at the club after signing a five-year contract means Hughes will have one of the Premier League's most formidable midfield rosters.

The City boss had warned his rivals that he likes to move quickly once he identified his wanted men, and Barry's move has been completed while most of football is still enjoying a post-season break.

City's swift move to conclude the first big signing of the summer transfer window will be seen as a clear statement of intent as Sheikh Mansour and Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak back the manager's bold plans.

Barry, who has 29 full England caps, is currently with Fabio Capello's national squad at their Hertfordshire hotel preparing for Saturday's 2010 World Cup qualifying match in Kazakhstan.

He also captained England Under-18s and joined Villa from Brighton as a trainee in 1997. As his career flourished, his versatility emerged and he shone at centre-back and left back as well as across the midfield.

Great news .

It means they don't need Arteta .

Ajax player Vermaelen to Arsenal for 11,5 miljoen euro ... What do you say Jamie?

Would have liked to see us buy him as a replacement for Lescott in the likely instance that he'll leave for Man City, but 11,5 seems a little steep for a player of Vermaelens qualities.

Worry? Oh no its not even 48 hours into the transfer window and we havent signed anyone! Get a grip we have till the end of august to sign players!

Back on topic - Real have agreed another big money move, this time Benzema from Lyon for 30m Euros which could rise to 35m euros based on how he does out there.

We've actually lost 8 players if you count our 2 loan deals , so why do they only show 3 ?

Yes but you have to remember that most of the players were released from the reserves. Players like Kissock didn't feature for the first team and most people won't even know who they are so Sky Sports dont really need to go into the detail of which reserve players have gone from each club. The key departures from Everton are;

Lars Jacobsen

Nuno Valente

Andy Van der Meyde
