Parliament-Funkadelic is one of my all time favorite bands. seen them live a ton of times. one time they played till damn near 3am (starting at 10p) and House of Blues turned the power on the stage off on them so they'd finally stop. They kept singing and finsihed the tune and then stopped. it was awesome. i love the FONK Matt
Louis
@Matt http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-41266667 Quote Radiohead have teamed up with composer Hans Zimmer to work on the soundtrack to the BBC's forthcoming natural history series, Blue Planet II. Inspired by the sounds of the sea, the band have recorded an orchestral version of the song Bloom, from their 2011 album The King Of Limbs. Called (ocean) bloom, the piece will be featured in a five-minute prequel, released on 27 September. It features new vocals from Thom Yorke alongside the BBC Concert Orchestra. pete0 and Matt

Very clever that Bill. Was just listen to these in the car driving home. I always wonder what the great classical composers would make of music like this; I have "interesting" debates with my mother-in-law on the subject. She's a piano teacher (still doing it in her mid eighties) with a Bechstein grand piano in her front room, it was her 21st birthday present, and she completely despises any form of "popular" music. I keep trying to find something she'll like but it's impossible.
EFC-Paul
Has a lot of meaning to me this one as I've always sung it to my daughter and made it "our" song, moreso looking morbidly as you do to the future Great band and vocals for which Holder never got the credit he deserved imo

I'd completely forgotten about that song to be honest but it's lovely; mentioned many times before on here that they were the first band I saw live. I think the lack of credit they got was down to the image they portrayed; no doubt under orders from their record company. They were incredibly versatile, loved them. "The Traveling Wilburys (sometimes shortened to the Wilburys) were a British-American supergroup consisting of Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison, and Tom Petty. The band recorded two albums, the first in 1988 and the second in 1990, though Orbison died before the second was recorded." Tom Petty has died, very sad. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-41475013

Matt
Considering the "leadership" of Britain and the US, this is a brilliant track Well they're selling another messiah Here tonight But we're all way too numb and divided To buy it Singing no no no We are all too divided this time (no no no) Show me a leader that won't compromise Show me a leader so hope never dies We need a hero this time (no no no) Disillusioned and tired of waiting For the one Whose intentions are pure unpersuaded We can trust Singing no no no 'Cause a promise is never enough (no no no) Show me a leader that won't compromise Show me a leader so hope never dies, we need a hero this time I know, I know I know if we're to survive We need to know this is not the end How will we ever get by It's getting harder to fight out here on our own Show… https://youtu.be/ICNer22c2PE
