"The referee controls the game clock and stops the clock after any incomplete pass or any play that ends out of bounds. In addition, each team is allowed 3 timeouts in each half that they may use at their own discretion.

The clock may also be stopped for an officials' time-out, after which, if the clock was running, it is restarted. For example: if there is a question as to whether or not a team has moved the ball far enough for a first down, the officials may use a measuring device (the chains) to determine the distance. While this measurement is taking place, the officials will signal for a stoppage of the clock. Once the measurement is finished and the ball is placed at the proper location (spotted), the referee will then signal for the clock to restart. Additional situations where officials may take a time-out are to administer a penalty or for an injured player to be removed from the field."

Nope.

If they did why the rushed huddles and QB throwing the ball into touch (when a team are out of time-outs)?

QB throughs it out so he doesnt lose yards or to keep possession. If hes tackled after the snap the line of scrimmage takes place from where the tackle was made. Throwing it away keeps the possession and resets the play at the original line.

The bit in bold is about 90% of the game! Also stopped when reviewing a flag if i remember correctly.

When it's a panic play when he's about to be hit then yes....but when the ball is snapped and immediately thrown into touch as a planned play it's purely to stop the clock.

If a pass is complete or a receiver is tackled after running the clock keeps going.

If 90% of plays ended incomplete or out of bounds then the game would never go anywherehuh.png .

@ J - Was that Neymar? It was a really good assist but nothing compared to this wonder-piece of skill from days gone by.

I remember actually sitting downstairs in the living room and laughing my tits off when he did it. He does quite well to get round the first man too and find some space for himself but managed to show himself up in front of the whole stadium - quality.

Mildly interesting stat....

Current top-flight Englishmen with the most Premier League appearances without playing for England:

1. Titus Bramble (275)

2. Tony Hibbert (244)

3. Leon Osman (240)

Hope this is looked at when picking over age players for the Olympic squad (apart from Bramble of coursetongue.png ).

Titus Bramble counts as a man?!

Nope.

He's mediocre. Always has been, always will be.

He should have been in the England team, he's better than the like of Johnson, Richards, Carragher and Mills. Gary Neville aside, Hibbert has been one of the best right backs of the last 10 years. I agree he's quite mediocre, but he's better than his competition.

hes not a patch on Richards. I wouldnt go as far to say he shouldve been in the England team but to say hes mediocre is harsh in my opinion.

Richards is one of the worst players in the prem, shits out of 50-50s. Steam rolls forward but lacks in defensive duty's. Bluemoon will have endless threads of his shitness. He had a great debut season give him that.

we are talking about Micah Richards right?! Pretty sure its not his debut season, hes been around for a while and been very good for City.

He's definitely had more shit games than good. He simply can't defend.

In a different thread

'Why do people keep saying he's a right back?

He's fecking clueless as a right back. He's inept going forward, can't cross the ball, can't shoot and can't head a ball for toffee if he actually get's into any attacking position. (Not that the latter two are particularly essential, but to be able to cross the ball and not give it away constantly are.) Utterly useless as a right back.

He is a center back, or a car park attendant.'

Hibbert is as solid as a sloppy turd. He can tackle, that's about it, and nine times out of 10 he needs to be able to tackle due to being horribly out of position in the first place.

Pete - Yes he's better than his England competition but that doesn't mean I should be happy about him having played so often for us? He's just not good enough and if we had two pennies to rub together he should have been replaced instantly.

I'd replace him if there was better players about, but there seems to be a lack of good rb's. We missed out big time on Walker and I cant see Coleman ever being that great. Hopefully Browning cut it for us.

been to bluemoon a few times, wouldnt trust that for feedback. Ive watched him quite a lot this season, he is solid and the best RB we have in England at the moment, comfortably.

He's built solid, but far from solid in defence. He has no positional sense and gets lost up field forgetting/being to lazy to track back.

I think Pete was meaning his debutseason was good and he's lived off that ever since, not that this season was his debut.

Spot on.

Richards is twice the player that Hibbert is and so are/where the others apart from Mills who is on a similar level....

Hibbert is a loyal one dimensional work horse nothing more nothing less. I'll give him his due He has been better this season but still as Mark says it's still only average really considering He's been pretty piss poor in the past.

If Coleman tightened up his defensive abilities I'd have him in week in week out.

By being a far better and all rounded player.

Hibbert has grit and heart but his all round game is average He has nothing more in his locker then what I have already mentioned.

There is a reason why Hibbert is not capped at International level and Richards and the mentioned players are and that being He is simply not good enough.
