The Big "How Should We Line Up" Topic

That was true for the first half of the season that Baines came, but by the end of that year Baines was clearly his first choice CB with Lescott & Jags starting in the middle. It was only Lescott getting out of form the season after and Baines getting a few niggles that meant Lescott played LB a bit more and got his form back.

This.

Baines 1st season he didnt even get a look in, was even considered a flop. Lescott wasn't considered good enough to play centrally, he was much better at LB and his poor form was more than likely because he didnt want to play there.

13 starts

From jus lookin back on the forum it wasnt till Feb 09 (a season and a half later) that Baines started to impress. http://www.toffeetal...es&fromsearch=1

Well even 13 starts in a season in which he was mostly injured (especially at the start) still shows that he was part of Moyes' plans and played a chunk of games. The point is that he started to get games and Lescott moved inside and Yobo missed out at the end of that season.

Yobo was always picked ahead of Lescott.

http://www.physioroom.com/news/english_premier_league/players/1234/leighton_baines_injury.html not injuries that kept him from playing

http://www.physioroom.com/news/english_premier_league/players/641/joseph_yobo_injury.html Yobo had injury troubles, as did Jags, which explains Baines game time.

You're argument would have more credit if it was for his second season, but even then it was only injuries that got him into the team.

That information kinda proves my point. In the 2007-2008 season Baines had a hamstring injury that kept him out a lot early on and then several small niggling injuries until Feb 2008. When he got fit he started to play.

Baines ended up playing 30 odd games in his second season and pretty much every game in our cup run!

Anyway I have had enough of this now, we could be going back and fourth for ages! wink.png

Id say

Howard

Nev Jags Distin Baines

Fellaini

Coleman Arteta

Osman Cahill

Saha

I would love to have a fresher side with a few new additions but looks unlikely, so keep it solid, 'same old 4-5-1' and maybe the likes of Barkley, Rodwell and Gueye can break through as the season progresses and hopefully can give us that extra boost up the table
