Romey 1878
Thats true about Howard even though he iddnt actually play in the world cup. Romey 1878
I hope Moyes actually gives the youngsters a go and looks at them properly to see if they could play a few games for the first team. It'll be good to see if Mark Hughes plays well

FairWooney
i'd like to see some decent scores like that but it's difficult to predict. we have too teams of half youngsters and have fresh team members. while pressumably barnet and port vale will be fielding most of their first 11. i'll be happy if beattie and Johnson both get off the mark in their games and we get clean sheets. no injuries and some good displays from some of the youngsters who are currently doing well in the reserves (eg. vidarsson as well as anichobe). Adams
Joleon Lescott has been forced to put his Everton début on hold after being struck down with a virus. The Blues’ summer signing from Wolves had been expected to make his bow at Port Vale alongside David Weir but has remained at home on Merseyside. It is not yet known as to the full extent of Lescott’s situation but Moyes is under no pressure to have him involved with six friendly matches still left to play Everton’s medical staff will now closely monitor the 23-year-old’s progress over the next few days in the hope that he may play some part at Preston Wednesday. FairWooney
good results, shame about lescott but if he's just got an illness that's not so bad. shame Johnson didn't score but anichobe scoring is good news, the lad looks like he's got a good future at the moment. i'd like to see a lot of him this season, obviously mostly off the bench but he could definately prove excellent back up. won't take long for him to move ahead of mcfadden in the pecking order. pretty good results though, good long run outs with not too many substitutions, no injuries and a few goals. GoldfishMemory
Just got back from bury and it was a typical first pre season game with the players not realy up for it in the seccond half. Highlight of the game came post final whistle with a pitch invasion and a bit of a piss take outa the Bury fans. Not much to tell you about the players except they all looked unfit but thats only to be expected. The tram and train home was quality, lots of beer, singing and a few little scuffles but all in all a quality day. One of the lads i was with ended up with AJ's top, gutted for the lad cos it aint got a name on but its AJ's first ever Everton top all the same. AJ seems a good kid too he stayed on at the end and signed autographs while everyone tried to steel his clothes, man that lad is small. The boys did us proud and the fans even more so there was at least 4,500 there and we outnumbered Bury fans 2:
