thoward18 got a reaction from Matt in Seamus Coleman
The writer and editor do not know the difference between "who" and "whom" and I'm supposed to take them seriously as a legitimate news source? Fuck off.

Let's buy him back with the Fellaini money.

thoward18 got a reaction from Toffee_in_LA in John Stones
He's been totally irrelevant, and I mean that in the best way possible. The CB role basically consists of, "don't fuck up." Anything else is a bonus. It's a very difficult position and especially for a teenager, but he hasn't fucked up. Thankful for Moyes giving us one more stupidly cheap buy.

thoward18 got a reaction from Matt in Leighton Baines
Let's not get dramatic here. Giving Baines a pay raise is not even close to reaching the levels of a Leeds or Portsmouth. You really think a stingy guy like Kenwright is suddenly going to lose his mind here?

thoward18 got a reaction from Ant1979 in Leighton Baines
The way I see it is, no guts, no glory. There's no safe, risk-free method of getting into the CL. We'll have to take some gambles. I think Baines is a good gamble.

thoward18 reacted to Romey 1878 in Kenwyne F'ING Jones!
If any one is happy at our striking options being Kone and Kenwyne Jones next season then you have lost your mind.
Here was me thinking we didn't want to settle for mediocrity any more.

All of a sudden Mirallas and Naismith as Lukaku's back-ups looks an excellent idea.

thoward18 reacted to Louis in Everton-related movies or documentaries?
There is an official history DVD - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Everton-The-Official-History-DVD/dp/B000U55UI2
But honestly, it's not very good. J A Corbett's review on Amazon sums it up for me. It was pretty lazily done and was a rehash of interviews from the 80s and others from a night out where you could hear plates being put down on the table in the 'background'.
There's one called "My Everton" which is aimed at kids, it covers the basics but is recent-ism and covers mainly the players who playing at the time of the DVD's release.
The BBC film Rubes mentions is now on Youtube. It was made in 1968.
There have recently been a few unofficial (not made or sanctioned by EFC) made DVDs but I haven't seen them.
Alan Ball Remembered (various EFC related people talking about their memories of Alan Ball)
Thank god for football (which covers the early days and profiles the lives of the founders of EFC)
There's also ongoing work into a spin-off sequel to the 1958 programme.

thoward18 got a reaction from markjazzbassist in Aiden McGeady
Don't think Roberto or anyone within Everton mistaking is McGeady for some gamebreaker who will lead the way to the title. He was clearly on his way out and his contract expired at the end of the season. He's good depth acquired on the cheap. Hard to be upset with the move, really.

Two of my favourite games are available on dvd, and Everton history documentaries are around.
There was a great old TV play called The Golden Vision about the wonderful Alex Young (see my sig below this post) In black and white as it is old but good viewing.
Oh the two games I mentioned above, 1 Everton V Bayern Munich, European Cup Winner's Cup semi final second leg (wednesday 24th April 1985) I was there that night and I near lost my throat with roaring the lads on. Best night ever.
and 2. Everton 4 - Liverpool 4 The greatest Cup Tie Ever. Quote from of all people Kenny Dalgish. " If there has ever been a better cup tie than this I wish somebody would send me the video".
Best place to get a historic documentary of Everton would be the Club shop I think. Everton Ultimate Cup Collection DVD
Opps hope you can still read that anyway they do have a selection of Everton DVD's there

thoward18 got a reaction from Quinn31 in Nikica Jelavic
Still has to agree to a contract with Hull, and we've seen in the past how that's never a guarantee. Safe to say he's likely gone, though. I wonder what the fee is.

Seems that all that was necessary to get Jelavic going was the threat of being deported to West Ham

Stunning goals from Coleman and Bruce Willis, but Timmy was huge.

I want Roberto to go after as many Man U guys as possible if only so he can make a snarky comment about how he'd "allow his players to move to a club higher up in the table" if he was in charge at Man U. Then we'd all get to watch Moyes defend not moving any of his guys without contradicting his passive aggressive bullshit about Baines from the summer transfer window.

It was sarcasm. Because we sold them Anichebe for a stupidly expensive price. Nevermind.

thoward18 got a reaction from Matt in Martinez won't last the season
Let's just worry about a Top 5 spot right now. We'll see where we are in March. Maybe then we can become super ambitious.

I don't blame Moyes for leaving us for Man U. He gave us a number of years and fought the temptation to leave for greener pastures multiple times. Objectively speaking, the Man U job was the biggest one on the market and a once in a lifetime opportunity for Moyes. I have no qualms with him making that move.
I do have qualms with him acting like a massive twat ever since.

thoward18 got a reaction from Sideliner in The arse
A win would have been lovely, and certainly wasn't a pipedream, but I think realistically we have to be very content with four points in two away matches against Man U and Arsenal. We've shown that we can compete with the big boys, and perhaps even outplay them for long stretches. Let's hope that they can now live up to the other end of the spectrum, which is to put away lesser teams. Getting results like this will mean nothing if we put together shitty games against the Aston Villa's and Norwich's (no disrespect) of the table.
