Get Mirallas on for Barry. Need pace and forward movement, shots. Can't wait and hope. We criticised Roberto for refusing to use subs. Now it's Koeman.

When last have we had a more than just a stand-in nr 10 playmaker ? Get us one in January from a Spain or Brazil - the guys who know how to attack through the middle and you won't believe the change he will make in the whole team.

If you look at what WBA did to Burnley last night Everton was unacceptably poor against the bottom feeder of the Premier Leauge at home. That follows the poorest show we have put up in recent years against Chelsea - not a single shot on target - again!. The balance in the team is not right and we play a slow stop/start game with nothing happening in the midfield to break other teams down. We need someone to do what Chadli has done for WBA. in the central midfield. We need a playmaker nr10 and a tall, strong and fast left back who can defend so Mirallas can focus on attack. We do not have enough interplay between our front 4 to create opportunities for Lukaku. We give the ball away far too easily in the final 3rd. Deulefeu and Mirallas must play to take our corners because Baines and Barkley are not good enough in that department. We need goals from more players than just Lukaku. I do not mind losing or drawing , BUT how we do it at the moment is just not good enough. We need improvement or we need change, because we are drifting nowhere at the moment.

It's very hard to attack shit balls in. We probably put one decent corner in all game.

you went through all that when it was explained so much simpler by everyone else. Well done for basing your findings on a season when he was pretty much abused the manager. Well done.
The point I was trying to make is that over a three year period he is still out most creative and clinical midfielder. Even without playing much last season. Anyone trying to rate Mirallas on last season is nuts. The guy didn't get a sniff.

That's the point, just drop him from the squad, instead he continues his punishment of Kevin by playing him for 2 minutes. An insult

He played some lovely balls in the second half much more effective than Barkley. I don't think Barkley should be in the side at the moment. Problem with Bolasie, Deulofeu & Mirallas is they all blow hot and cold.

I know its only 24 hours but I take this back.

There's no path back after that performance, its almost certain he already knows he's gone and they are just trying to negotiate a settlement, had a bit of a look around at the contract law on those types of contracts this morning and it's plausible that they are disputing whether its termination for convenience or for breach of contract. (would makes sense, were not Abramovich, Bill's a nice guy but a tightarse by nature and his new accountant mate would be the same)

Also read this interesting paper on the study of Managerial Performance.

This below conclusion is certainly true of all three seasons if you look at them in isolation.

"It is evident that managerial performance can plausibly be gauged after 10 games with outstanding managers shining right from the start and the underperforming managers rarely being able to reverse their teams’ early failures. Managers who begin as mediocre performers tend to remain there as well, although their future fortunes could also go into either extreme. The lesson, therefore, is that managers who perform below expectation usually remain that way and therefore it may be optimal to remove them from office sooner rather than later; on the other hand, those managers who are merely somewhat disappointing should be given time to further develop their teams."

Right to have been given the third season, but on performance metrics definitely time to go now.

when you lose the players that's it. It seems as though Martinez has had his fair share of fall out with senior players. Unfortunately hanging Baines out to dry was the final nail.

Baines will always be bigger than you Martinez. You took on the wrong player. Whilst also single handedly trying to ruin Mirallas.

    Now do1

Just watched the highlights and seen the run. Wow. And to think a guy that can do that has been on the bench all year.

    Fuck off Martinez.

I have nothing against Martinez as a person but enough is enough. We are just going backwards. Also certain overrated players should accept responsibility for a shameful season.

The goal seemed to happen in slow motion and in complete silence from my perspective. It was weird.

I'm not surprised the players dropped to their knees when it went in, I felt their pain. They'd put everything into that second half, I was proud of them. Immensely so in fact. It was cruel but inevitable what happened though.

But he's hasn't been good since. He offers nothing at the moment. Cleverley is just a younger version of Osman.

Oh Mirallas too was excellent before injury/ falling out with Martinez. In fact he is 5 times the player Cleverley will ever be.

Shite first half much better the second they should hang their heads that it takes a probable bollocking to get them fired up in such a big game

Martinez should have changed it up sooner but defensive errors and piss poor control and finishing cost us today

What worries me about this is his comments at the end of the article..."it had been 10 months of hard work to get into this position"...what? Cup Semi final and below mid table??? I can't help but feel that Roberto had put his eggs in one basket for this Cup and they've now been smashed to pieces!!!

Don't know where the disagreement is. He should've been on at 70 minutes along with Geri in my mind. The fact that Martinez only brought him on to replace Gibbo for the last minute because Gibbo was injured and not because he's clearly not fit enough to play a full 90 minutes is baffling.

Martinez really made a nonce of himself by waiting to bring on Mirallas. His subs never cease to amaze me. I would love to know what's going on in his head because he has to be the worst manager when it comes to sensible subs.

I fully concede that I have no faith at all right now in Barkley. His play over the last several matches has been abysmal. Too much dribbling, rarely shoots, wanders around looking lost, loafs on defense. Paul Merson's first words about the Southampton goal were, "Barkley doesn't follow his man."

If he isn't going to dominate with the ball at his feet rushing forward, knock defenders off, and blast it from near the edge of the box, he's just a liability the rest of this season.
