yes, he could. But he didn't did he? I don't give a shit how the goals are scored.....just score them. Naismith has proved he can do it very regularly, whereas Barkley hasn't (as yet)!

Oztoffee reacted to Hafnia in Aiden McGeady
McGeady is a player of the ilk of Davie Cooper, most young scottish wingers coming through have the unenviable tag of being the next Davie Cooper. Mcfadden was compared by Moyes to Cooper. The thing is Cooper was a legend who had the crowd buzzing when he got the ball as he would often try and succeed in using skill to beat his man.

You want players who take on defenders, its one of the best things in the game. Remember the days when Rooney used to do it? John Barnes did it before his achilles injury, Gazza at his best would take them on. We have 2 players in Mcgeady and Mirallas who can do this - Ross Barkley does this. Lets enjoy them.

We had a distinct lack of will to win in the last 30mins. I watched the clock and at 60mins thought 'how long till we screw up?'
Bugger me till Christmas at 70 mins we were a different team. I don't think personally that it's all lack of fitness either, there was a total lack of intensity. We weren't closing them down at all as we did first half, giving them too much room and the backs were playing in another game somewhere....they certainly weren't playing at Goodison.

To me Jags has never been the same since his injury last season and is performing far below what he has done in the past. At times yesterday he looked totally out of his depth.
Distin, while still a great player is looking down the barrel at the end of his career. A performance like yesterday's can only hasten it. Well off the pace.
Coleman was certainly not at his best and I feel another week on the bench may have been better for him. He was sluggish and out of touch sometimes.
    Baines was Baines.
As someone said earlier, Bobby should get the boys together with a psychologist this week to sort out what the fcuk they are thinking of when they are two goals up, playing like they'll win the League only to let two goals in in 10mins?

We've scored 4 goals in two games...not bad. We've conceded 4 goals in two games. Most Everton teams from the past would be saying...'what the?'

I remember the great Everton team of the 80s and one of their great strengths was their mental toughness. I remember an interview with Andy Gray where he said that if we went a goal down it just made us angry and we set about scoring at least two as soon as possible. Similarly, he said that once we were a goal up we felt really good as very few teams scored twice against us.
Contrast that with Everton of today where, even at 2-0 up we can't enjoy the performance as we know that we are always likely to concede a goal and, once we do that we run out of legs, confidence and ideas, and we invariably concede a second.
Bobby needs to get the psychiatrists in and teach our talented squad how to think like winners and play with more arrogance and confidence. We got what we deserved today and we will win bugger all until we change our mind set. I thought that was supposed to be one of Bobby's great strengths but it is not evident in our play at all.

Have to wonder, are we clutching at straws here?
WTF is so exciting about a money-grabbing, half-arsed, 'I'll try hard today...oh no that was last game' player who doesn't know (or can't remember) how old he is? He never really caught the eye at Chelsea and was never on the pace at all. I think he was too old last year and hasn't got any younger (or maybe he thinks he has!).
    Gotta be other options!

Yes. Look at the bigger picture here. Without actually saying so, the board/chairman/manager are outlining the fact that we are here and are no longer a 'selling club' that has to farm off it's best players to survive.
In other words we have changed our whole perspective in the way we approach club finances and the purchase of new players.
Get used to it people, this is the new Everton!

Let's not get into some sort of a conspiracy theory here.
Money isn't going missing, some of it's allocated to retiring debt, some to ground upkeep, a shit-load to players wages and the rest to buying new players. It has to be that way or we'll do a Leeds or Portsmouth, or we'll have a better team playing in a ramshackle barn and can't afford to pay them.
It's akin to buying a flash new car that's the envy of the street but having nowhere to park it because you didn't pay the house mortgage in order to pay for it. It's all about priorities. Everton's is getting the finances in order to enable us to go forward in the future....other clubs' priorities are to sell the farm for short term gain and hope it works out OK.
I know which side I'm on!
Remember too that we were 'The Merseyside Millionaires' at one time and had a great team. Can't begrudge Chelsea and City too much. We'd be in raptures too if we found a man with a magic wand. Although I like to think we'd be a little more magnanimous about it.

When I were a lad a lot of blokes used to take newcomers in the pub for a ride by asking what seemed to be easy questions but were actually very odd and sometimes too hard. Winner got a pint of Higsons Brown, needless to say the newcomers always ended up paying.
Questions like these....remember these were 50 years ago!

    1. What is taken to every Cup Final but never used?

    2. Who played for both sides in the 1959 Cup Final?

If you know the answers please feel free to post them. Otherwise add your own experiences of these off-the-cuff pub quizzes.

I thought that Alcaraz had a good game today despite his being on the bench for so long. Distin doesn't get injured that much so I'd basically forgotten that Alcaraz was still around. Yes he trains with the squad so he should slot in whenever necessary but being sharp enough and up to match speed sometimes takes time. I thought he fitted in well today.

C'mon folks, get the excuses out of the way. We were fucked to a standstill by a team that were far better on the night. Saw the Arsenal game too, and on last night's performance we would have given a good account of ourselves against them....the shite were just far too good and I daresay would have beaten anyone.
As an aside, it shows how well off the top clubs are when they have a bench that is as strong as the side that starts. We havn't got that luxury and last night was always going to be difficult....shows the gap that we have to overcome to be top four continuously (not just for a week here and there).
Good sign though, we were still at it at the end, going forward and trying to score.

    This is a 360 really...Fellaini.
First thought he was crap when we got him. Slow, shit tackler, prone to red cards. Took for ever for him to come good, and then I thought I was wrong. Played well, overcame the red card situation (mostly) and speeded his game up. Then last season he was absolute crap again and in the end I think we got a good deal when Moyes took him to Utd.

I just watched the Toon game, first game of the season I've seen 'cos of a longish holiday in US. For the time he was on the pitch he wasn't really that involved too much but when he was, he reminded me so much of Alex Young, my childhood idol.
He just drifted about, almost godlike with the touch and control that most others can only dream about, the ball seemingly tied to his boot.
He'll either be a mega-star if he gets his head right or a complete twat if he doesn't take direction well. It's all up to him.
Meantime, just enjoy the ride. How far will it go?
