If I had to choose from Nuno, Vieira and Rafa, I'd prefer Rafa. He is a competent manager. Paddy has it all to prove, and Nuno did alright at Wolves, but hasn't that much more to his name than that.
Obviously, you have your own reasons for being less than enthused, but based on his track record, he is a competent manager.

Not from me but probably a fair few still hold the "small club" comment he made about us in 2007 against him.

    Good post.
I think it was just a contribution of different factors that led to Wolves' indifferent season last year. Part of that is the personnel problems you have alluded to and there was some disruption caused by the changes Nuno was trying to make. It is testament to the job he has done that 13th was considered a bad season and I would have fully expected them to bounce back again this season if he was still in charge.
I am not sure there would be animosity as such but he would have to do more than most to win a portion of the fan base over.

There would be a fair bit, yes. Which is why I hope we don't go down that route. He's a good manager but as soon as we had a rough patch (which is inevitable) too many would turn on him and the atmosphere would get toxic very quickly, leading to us probably sacking him. We need stability and continuity and I don't think that would be possible with Rafa.

Yes. We always had the players but it wasn't happening early in the season for several reasons. The squad was always better than those early season diabolical performances.
With Sam, I think he was keen on this job as it was one final push for him. A chance to show that he's not just an emergency fill in to help clubs scrap at the bottom, but that he can play good football if given the resources.
Early days on the good football front but from what he has been saying, I think he wants us to play good football, rather than hoof ball, but it was always going to be a case of sort the defence first, get confidence up, and then start being more expressive.
    We'll see.

He's doing well for your lot, as expected. This is his biggest chance in club management. With the players you have out injured, and perhaps an addition or two in january, things are brightening up surely?

For those who do not want Allardyce, or the usual "safe pair of hands"....what about Wagner at Huddersfield? Young, promising, doing well at the moment, and with connections in Europe.

Like him a lot but don't suspect he'd move before next summer

Actually, I think you could do a lot worse than Allardyce. This will be his biggest job in club football, and you may say what you want, but he is a competent manager. He'll get you sorted out, and get the players up for it. In addition, his teams are much easier on the eye than Pulis, who might well be in the running...
You looked relegation material at Southampton. While Unsworth is one of your own, he has no business being Everton manager. It would be like us appointing Keown or Henry, neither having any experience managing at this level.

Diaby staying fit? The second coming is more likely to happen.

    Gooner in peace here.

I'd love us to sign Fellaini. That is exactly the type of player we need. My only worry would be his technique. We play quick one touch football, most of the time sideways though... I would however be surprised to see us sign him. Our transfer record is £15 mill, and net spend over 10 years is apparantly something like £9 mill. Wenger spending £25ish mills on someone he intend to use as a defensive midfielder would be very surprising.

I think it is more likely he would go to Chelsea.
