We had 14 attempts on goal to Brentford's 5. In DCL's absence we don't have anyone who can put the ball in the net. I think there is only Norwich who have scored less goals than us so far this season.

The young lady Raducanu who had a brilliant win in the US Open (Tennis) has been seen more in the media, wearing fancy and expensive outfits, than in the sports pages. Hasn't won anything since. Even losing to a lady who was over 100 in the rankings. Hope DCL isn't following the same path. He should be concentrating 100% on getting fit to the exclusion of everything else.

I haven’t met anyone who voted remain telling me the wished they had voted leave, but on my life I have met individual’s and couples who voted leave and have regretted it. In the next 10 years I believe we will be voting to go back into the Union a much poorer country than when we left.
If we do re-join it will, by then, have reverted to a 'common market'. The EU as it is now will no longer exist. I think your forecast of 10 years is about right.

For several games now we have played a first-half as though we only had 9 men on the pitch but then play the second-half like a top six team. The fact that this has happened several times over the last couple of months means it is down to the manager. He changes formation, tactics and players at half-time, which seems to work. How does he get it so wrong for the first-half?

Mid-table would be wonderful but I don't think we'll be even getting that.
Yes, I agree. We have, (at a push) eleven Premiership quality players in the squad. A few injuries and we have to bring in Championship quality players and that is overly generous to one or two. We desperately need a clear-out and a bit of quality brought in, particularly in midfield.

Feeling all a bit numb to it to be honest, I'd be going to bed in a right mood after a defeat on MNF but I'm a bit emotionless at the moment, I feel as though we're just a bit of a shit team at the minute - mid-table at best and getting what we deserve which is the odd win here and the odd three defeats there.
We probably won't go down, but won't get near Europe and get to do it all again next August with a new manager and some new transfers.
The harsh reality is that the club just isn't going anywhere. The amount of problems we have has been well documented over and over on this forum and put together makes a list longer than your arm. The fact that we have to patch an XI together every week is just beyond a joke, wouldn't surprise me at all if we end up sticking Ben Godfrey up top against Spurs and name a Premier League record 4th goalkeeper on the bench.
You say that the harsh reality is that the club just isn't going anywhere. Haven't you read about Bramley Moor Docks?

I deliberately didn't post earlier as I wanted to think about all the issues and post a considered and carefully thought out review.

Didn't have you marked as a conspiracy theorist John.
My thinking was, in the context of 'Everton that', we get a good transfer fee for DCL and fall back on Rodney (Rondon?)

When DCL was injured, it didn't seem that serious. Questions have been 'why is it taking so long?' Article in Telegraph Sport today says he will be out until January (when the new transfer season starts) and also discusses a possible transfer and lists clubs (Arsenal being one) who are interested. Clubs often find ways of not playing players who are maybe up for transfer. Just saying.

Was at the game so haven’t seen replays but didn’t he gift the corner that led to the goal - certainly looked like it from where I was. Allan certainly gave him a bit about jumping with his knees up.
In the paper today, Pickford is complaining that he was fouled prior to giving the corner away.

I’ll tell what’s pressure John I remember it as if it was yesterday, 1989 recession, 3 kids to feed 60k mortgage mortgage rate shooting 15% no work no help then for the self employed and the bank manager threatening to repossess my house and suspending my bank account so we couldn’t pay any bills or get any shopping, 5 months of hell, now that was pressure.
Yes Palfy, I clearly remember those days. fortunately, I was in work and still difficult enough with, as you say, big mortgage and high interest rates. Certainly wouldn't have wanted to be unemployed at the same time. You did well to come through it.

I sent him an email and got a reply today, he's just very busy moving house and changing jobs so he's fine and will be back.
Moving house AND changing jobs, now that's pressure. Hope it all goes smoothly Mark 'Jazz'.

Today is the last big step of the last 12 months. Just less than a year ago I was in A&E in Switzerland having collaped and cut my head. Since then I've left the country I love, relocated back to my old stomping ground with a new job (that's since been made permanent, that I'm loving and who appreciate me), finally got C's visa sorted and today we completed on our first house purchase. All whilst going teetotal on booze, sleeping medz and antidepressants.
What a difference 12 months makes.
Matt
Well done. That's great news. Hope all the good vibes continue.

I've recently discovered that once you hit a certain age, apparently all the health things start happening to you. Just turned 34, and I've thankfully been extremely fortunate to have had a very healthy life, with almost no exceptions.
Now within the last 3 months, I all of a sudden developed (what we think?) is sports asthma, still trying to diagnose exactly what's wrong. My acid reflux has gotten so bad that I'm having to go see a doctor, and I developed a stye in my eye due to getting a piece of sand in there playing volleyball.
WHY DIDN'T ANYONE WARN ME ABOUT THE PERILS OF YOUR MID-30'S.
I can sympathise. I was a vibrant and healthy male and then as soon as I turned 70, things started to go wrong. Apart from the odd football injury and occasional cold, I had never been 'ill'. I had only ever been in hospital once, when I was 8 years old (got knocked down) but since 70 I have been in several times. Still, I had a good run so can't complain.
