    Wow!

My mum used to have a shoulder that she dislocated many, many times; when we were little it was a hospital job and she was in agony but as it happened more often and got "looser" she just used to pop it back in and carry on as if nothing had happened, she knew the correct technique and did it without thought. But a knee? In a football match? If she was a man she'd have quite a pair!

Respect!   Tough nuts up there north of the border.  I've still got a dislocated thumb from football.  The trainer couldn't get it back in so I said 'leave it to me', which is why it's still dislocated.😄

Ridiculous conclusion to come to, I like Brits as much as anyone; I just happen to believe that all human life has the same value irrespective of what piece of rock they happen to be born on.

    Your xenophobia is showing.

Which was the exact point of my post Mike.  Just surprised it received the response that it did.

That's not a good long term solution. Ultimately society has to adjust it's social contract. We expect infinite growth in a finite world. If people are living longer and migrants are required to fill the pension black hole then what happens when these same migrants get old?

How many immigrants is the right amount of immigrants? What is the carrying capacity of the land? What kind of quality of life should people expect? What are the long term impacts on the environment from endless immigration? Where will everyone live? Where will all their waste go?

These are genuine concerns for many people and they go unanswered by all of the political parties. It's no surprise that the public want something different.

What happens to the countries all these immigrants come from, particularly the skilled ones?

So what you're saying is that people should not stand for office based on their principles and what they believe to be right, they should just say and do what the electorate (for which read tabloid press) want? Might as well just make Rupert Murdoch PM and do away with the election palaver.

The above is an extract from Holystove's post, though I happen to agree with it.  The issue is all about winning an election. If you lose, you can spend 5 years thinking about your principles. As most manifesto's are fiction anyway, you still have 5 years to feed your principles in if you win.

The parallels between Sanders and Corbyn are uncanny (even down to how their supporters hound people on social media who dare question the leader).  If he wins the nomination, my guess is Trump is set for another 4 years because, just like in the UK, the majority will not choose to go with the revolutionary, no matter how much they disdain Trump.

Seems the UK is really ahead of the curve.  They got there first with Brexit (Trump) and Corbyn (Sanders).  Democrats should take note of this and take away the approriate lessons (go for electability, not purity).

Fwiw, I think Klobuchar would stand the best chance of beating Trump.

Exactly this.  (except Klobuchar, know nothing about him!)

Best of luck man. I got given the “wrong” antibiotics which turned my already chronic insomnia up to 11. Lost 8kg in 10 days, more than 10% of my body mass. Only just getting the weight back 10 weeks later.

Ouch!  Hope you get sorted soon.   When they decided that my heart condition had been wrongly diagnosed, they put me on different beta blockers.  Been taking them for two weeks and have felt absolutely lousy for two weeks. Been trying to make contact with the consultant but its a nightmare.  After going through all the options 'press 5 for etc.,'  I end up with (the last one) that says 'this number is unobtainable'!

Recuperating at home after 4 days in hospital with early stages of pneumonia. Some heavy duty iv antibiotics seem to have me on the road to recovery but will miss flights to Dhaka and Edinburgh. Hope to be good for Stockholm next Sunday.

Hope you are back in good health soon.  Did they put you in isolation?  Hope you have your mask on when you post on here!

  9. I consider myself very fortunate.  I enjoy a glass of wine but never bother with a second.  Enjoy a pint of bitter, never bother with a second.  Enjoy a dram of Scotch, never bother with a second.  Don't know why it should be that I really enjoy a drink but am happy with just the one.  The other advantage is that I have never been drunk.  Have never smoked either.  On reflection, I'm just a boring sod really!😁

I haven't drank since mid December.....  can't take hangovers any more and with 2 young children I prefer to have a clear head.

The benefits are awesome... Money, quality sleep, better moods, productive at work, look better, to be fair I have to drank more in the last 20 years than most do in a lifetime.  I seen a worrying trajectory with drink - was drinking to deal with negative things rather than enjoying positive things.

Well done Haf.  Keep it up.

John.... imagine him playing on the pitches you did? In the boots you played in, with centre halves being allowed to go through the back of you? Absolutely no chance...  they play in slippers with football's that float, on the most perfect of pitches.

Haf,  I remember once playing an Amateur Cup game against Reckitts & Coleman at their sports ground.  The pitch was like a bowling green. The club house can be summed up in one word 'luxury'.  Expensive tiles, underfloor heating in the dressing rooms, power showers. They provided all our players and officials with a large pack of their products.  I felt a bit guilty after we beat them 10 - 0!  I remember thinking, after the game, I wish I could play on a pitch like that every week.

I see your point but he's on a never ending cycle of proving his critics wrong because he's always giving them reasons to pipe up.

I said a long while ago that he will retire from the game and have big regrets.  For me his athleticism should mean he finds the game a doddle..... like watching Le Bron James or Usain Bolt.  He's 6ft 4, a good 15st, fast and has size 12 feet to side foot a ball harder than I could kick it.

Yet he just seems to coast and struggle in areas of the game that shouldn't be an issue.  Every now and then he finds his hunger and a point to prove and then when he's proved it he puts his feet up.

I dunno.... the penny may drop with him and he may get another shot at the prem but I find him a bit of a waste of an athlete and penalty box finisher.

Haf, he can also trap a ball harder than you can kick it.😁

Plus their travel expenses are paid and the poor impoverished guys have subsidised restaurant facilities; how's anyone supposed to survive on £323 a day?

Be fair Mike.  During the recent storms, some of the poor guys won't have been able to get into London.  I think they have to sign in to get their money?  (Talking about the Lords here)

    (this is an ironic post!😁)
