No, watching the game. But I can't tell a head from a foot, apparently.

If you ain't on the windup then the reason your comment created such scepticism is because Besic is a top quality midfielder in the making... To say he isn't prem quality is madness really.

On the whole, I'm ok with this. We didn't deserve to win, and it would have been harsh to lose.

I'm pleased with how we have gone back to basics. We've solidified at the back. The confidence will grow from these clean sheets, and from the lack of goals conceded overall recently. Stones and Jags it is. I'm not too fussed on the amount of direct balls getting played from the back as most of them end up being intercepted by the oppositions back line.

The down side to solidifying the back line is the lack of threat up top. Hopefully the right balance will come in soon.

I thought most of our players had tidy games today.

I wasn't too surprised to see Mirallas go off. And thought Lennon did quite well. Coleman looked much more active once Lennon came on. And actually, we came out more once Mirallas went off. Not sure if that's a coincidence.

We really really should have put much more pressure on Sakho. He's atrocious.

Lukaku's offsides really frustrated me. Happens to often. I'm also in the camp wondering what this stuff about pace is all about?!

Barkley looked nifty once on but should have come on at least 15 minutes earlier.

A decent day at the office. Nothing special.

Oh, and Stevie G was shite.

Hope Martinez watched and learnt from that performance.

Bolton pressured them from the front early on and never let them settle for too long. When they attacked they attacked quickly and in numbers.

And the best chances (and goal) came from quick break with a fast ball into the box, the Liverpool defence didn't look confident in those situations at all.

On the other side Liverpool continue to be very good on the counter attack themselves which is just how they beat us last season. We could really have done with McCarthy back, while Besic is playing well he doesn't hold his position well enough around the middle. I want to see Coleman and Baines getting forward but they need that cover from Barry and Besic.

1-1 is my first thought but really no idea, we could get completely turned over or we could put up a good fight and get some kind of a result.

Even after yesterday's 3 points, it's probably still as sensible to fear relegation as to hope for a top 6-7 finish. So while looking forward to doing well in Europe, we'll also stress over league points squandered.

My own stress relief, such as it is, comes from the conviction that 39 points will see us through. Specifically, I do not believe that all of the current bottom four -- Leicester, QPR, Hull, Burnley -- will reach 39. Maybe one of them will get to 39, but not two.

Leicester on short rest after travel to Young Boys will be crucial.

Surely we can nick 13 points from 15 matches.

Elston Gunnn got a reaction from Matt in Muhamed Besic
Assuming RM is here long-term [not guaranteed, I realize], and assuming he continues playing 2 DMs, I could see a Besic-McCarthy partnership as our standard set-up. Besic seems the more likely of the two to be the occasional goal-scoring threat going forward. He possesses very clever dribbling skills, pivots brilliantly while controlling the ball, gets past defenders and into the final third.

Don't know whether he can develop an accurate shot from outside the box. Hope so, as more promise there than with McCarthy, I think.

Baines moving centrally seems also in RM's plans, but maybe a rotation of partnerships among these 3, depending on needs and opponent??

Anyhow, Besic is looking like a brilliant addition. His confidence in keeping the ball in tight situations is suddenly quite impressive.

He's not going to say it's the first one is he? So you have to assume that he'll say that it was the second one.

So you have to decide for yourself what his motive was; and if his action is forgivable. For me an acknowledgment that he did wrong and an apology is the minimum starting point on the road back for him, if he wants one or is offered one.

Another thought; think of the added pressure on Baines next time we get a pen, and his mind says, "If I miss this then maybe Kev was right not to trust me."

    Stupid desicion. Simple as that.

Does he deserve criticism? Of course he does.
Does he deserve to he ridiculed? No.

Last week he was lucky to have a great fifteen minutes of football. Until his freekick he was anonymous. But that's what he can do in a split second.

We can't afford to let him go at the moment.

You really want a three way (or maybe more) argument going on on the pitch though Mark? Would have made us look even more ridiculous than we do. Mirallas was hugging the ball and nobody was getting it off him (although he was told to give it up by Lukaku and Naismith), his fault entirely.

Embarrassing incident making the club look stupid all down to one man.

    Half time...

We ain't doing that much wrong. Baggies clearly set out for a draw. 9 players around the 18 yard box? That's tough to break down. But we could do more.

Stones is leading the way for me. Class so far. Naismith has pissed me off a few times with piss poor passes. Lukaku so so...getting crowded out a lot. Barkley...forgot he was playing until 41 minutes! And he's central.

I was thinking...A goal for us would open this right up.

And we get a penalty!!! Get in.

But who the fuck decided that a player who has scored 15 of 16 penalties doesn't take it? Look at the replays...Mirallas has decided that himself. Naismith, Lukaku, Martinez all looked bemused. Disgusting behaviour. Absolutely disgusting. And the run up was shite!

Everton make me furious sometimes I tell you. If we were 4-0 up and going well in the league then fine. But we're struggling and not in a situation to piss about with penalties. Mirallas is to blame looking at the replay. Basically ignores Lukaku and Naismith and just runs up to the spot. Greedy fucker.
