Makis got a reaction from Matt in Marko Arnautovic
    Here's  a tip:
Every time we are linked to a player ask yourself if this player fits the profile Brands himself has said he is after.
In Arnautovic's case the answer is an empathic NO. These are just rehashed rumours from before Arnautovic moved to WHU. We were linked back then to him as well.

Brands's modus operandi doesn't really seem to include signing players at their peak. A 28-year player is at his peak. So  I doubt this rumour.

The biggest income I believe comes from increased number of executive boxes. GP has a ridiculously small amount of them. New stadium should also increase matchday sales of other things (refreshments, food, merchandise). And it should improve sponsorship deals. The extra money from the regular seats is really not that much in the grand scheme of things. If you get 10,000 extra seats sold out every week @25 pounds a pop, that's 250,000 per match, or in the range of 5 million per year. With the next TV deal Everton's revenue will be close to 200 million, so it would mean an increase of about 3%, say 4% including all other income from those fans. So while it's a nice thing to have it would mean the club can pay the wages for one star player more.
This is also why financially the gains from a 60k stadium as opposed to a 55k stadium is not very much. It would however increase build costs, possibly require more policing etc. Just to break even would require those extra 5k seats should be sold out for most games for the next 40 years.

Dan Meis has put forward a stadium plan has been said to be cutting edge and world class.
This design is to be something that hasn’t ever been seen before. It encompasses a breathtaking view of the pitch while creating amazing acoustics. The only question to hme answered now, is whether they go with the 62500 design or the 7200 design.
They have six finance plans on the ya low at the moment, but are running through due diligence to find the best suited to the club. None of these options rely on LCC input.
Thw club have already spoken with officials  from the world heritage organisation and have signed a contract based on the two designs put forward by Meis. They are said to be extremely happy with the designs put forward and agree that the stadium would propel Everton and the city of Liverpool I to elite status.
    This is all factual.

You won’t find it if you look, anywhere. But trust me.... it’s all true!

I think people who only have two categories for players (great and shite) are a bit stupid.

That's, btw, impossible.  Those 18 teams have also played each other (max one meeting of not playing) and someone's getting some points in every match.

We are plucky little Everton and should not be spending that sort of money. Last year we paid too much for Pickford.

I'm tempted to show you wrong but how many times does that actually happen in the PL? How many matches and against who did City lose last season? Barca lost to Levante and drew against Las Palmas, Getafe, Celta Vigo (twice), Real Madrid, Sevilla, Valencia and Atletico Madrid. That's one loss and nine draws.
City lost twice and drew four times so they lost less points than Barca.

So how else do you objectively compare teams if not with the matches where they play each other?
Transfermarkt values are complete hogwash. They are basically updated when someone feels like it. I could show countless ridiculous values. Some players' values might not have been updated for a year. But there are other issues even if those values were accurate. First they consider potential. But potential has nothing to do with how good the team is *now*. So a 30+ year old, much better player could be valued less than a potential 20-year old. On top of that, PL prices are obviously inflated. Very few clubs outside of  PL can pay the same kind of sums for PL players as the clubs pay for intra-league transfers.
Single games are a bit of lottery but Spanish teams have done better over a number of years. Number of games is significant when you consider UEFA coefficients are calculated from something like seven teams over five years. Coefficients for the top leagues are calculated over tens of matches. Can't be bothered to count but much more than 38 matches anyways.

Makis got a reaction from StevO in Blue Bill's shiny new stadium at the docks...
The bigger the stadium, the more the extra seats tend to cost (structural requirements alone grow).
5k seats @ £330 is £1,650,000 per year. The stadium will cost in the region of half a billion pounds, so financially 5000 extra seats won't make a difference to club's finances. It would increase the risk that income is lower, though, because those seats will have to be paid whether someone sits on them or not. And this payment will go on for decades. Way beyond the current owners or their successors. Many of us will be long dead and still the club will be paying for the stadium.
Whether the stadium has 55k or 60k has absolutely no effect on the sponsorship deals. The only thing that matters in that case is how well the team does on the pitch. Two million extra per year will not help (and remember, this assumes every game is sold out) when you consider our revenue is over 150 million already, and will be, IIRC, about 180 million with the new TV deal. You can pay wages for a reserve with that (£40kpw).
The real money in the stadium comes from corporate boxes on matchdays unless the club raises ticket prices. I think that would have a detrimental effect, though. Overseas fans would be also good as they buy more merchandise but the number of Everton overseas fans is dwarfed by the bigger clubs. So this won't help either, unless the club first becomes very successful and stays like that for a decade at least.
To me this all "we want this big stadium" is more about wanting a bigger one than the neighbours which is just stupid. Stadium size should be based on facts and figures because that's the only way to actually build a stadium that benefits the club.
