I'd explain Baines isn't getting any younger and give him a good contract have him with the first team every day in training and make him feel an integral part of the set up and tell him to bide his time and it will come.
 
Baines is a left back he isn't a centre mid. Until Martinez mentioned it nobody even dreamt it as a possibility.

Every bit of Barkley's good stuff came when he abandoned the wing and came central, that should tell Martinez everything but he seems to be the only one who sees something different. Every time Barkley went on a marauding run through the middle I just want to scream "SEE!" at Martinez.
 
Also, playing Barkley out wide completely fucks whoever the full-back is on his side because he simply is not there at all to help going forward or defensively. Which is why Oviedo was hesitant to attack properly right until the end of the game when we had West Ham camped in their own area.

The first one should be in the "General Sports" section, some serious athletics on show.

I wouldn't mind seeing Baines in the midfield from time to time and Oviedo/Garbutt rotating at LB. Especially because Oviedo can also play as a LM/LW

Agreed mike. And I definately shoulder some blame to RM, bad tactics (I want the 433 back), rushing players back from injury to get injured again, and bad subs.
 
But I shoulder most of it to the players. Coleman in light of last season has been very pedestrian, Howard fell off so fast after the WC, jags was rusty for the first 12 matches or so, and distins finally past it. 4 of our back 5 is playing bad, Baines the only solid one. A healthy stones and firing jags, Robles playing for a spot or a new keeper, and Coleman re-finding defense could go A LONG WAY for us.

After shit loads of thoughts going through my head tonight I genuinely hope Roberto can turn this round. This negative atmosphere isn't going to help him or the players. So come Saturday the 10th I hope the whole of Goodison gets behind him and the team.
 
I genuinely like Martinez as a man. He seems a real genuine guy, he's had us playing good stuff. We just need to find the formula to start winning and picking points up again. Changing players positions isn't going to help the matter. We need to go back to basics and that's playing people in their desired positions if that means leaving Barkley or Naismith out so be it.
 
We need Mcgeady to step up or Pienaar to come back in and show some form!

Distin will probably do a better job covering those positions from the bench than he would if he was on the pitch.

We all know bill by now, even if he wanted to let him go he wouldn't. He'd firstly have to pay off a five year contract plus pay for another manager to take over. It ends there.

To be fair we do seem to be more adept at the pointless 5 yard pass and our ability to concede sloppy goals has come on leaps and bounds
