Realistically, would people rather see silva continue or have Unsworth in for the rest of the season? I mean, if those were the only two options.
During the first 20 mins, I would have said the players now just badly need a circuit breaker (coach sacking). I couldn't watch much of the rest of the game, so not sure how much they turned it around and now back on the fence.

I have just seen a link on Lucien Favre as his job at Dortmund is looking like it is under pressure.
I don't really know a lot about him but his Wikipedia page sounds pretty promising in that he has done very well at almost every club he has been at.
It even says the following, which I think may have been written by his mum:
Style of management
Favre's teams play a dynamic, quick and attacking-minded football where ball possession and change of tempo alternate. This attractive style of play has brought results in every club he has managed. Furthermore, Favre is very skillful tactically, leaving his opponents struggling to penetrate his well-organized sides. His teams tend to shoot less than others but have a high conversion rate, also with shots coming from outside the box. Favre likes the opponents conversion rate to be on the low end. His teams stick out at the wrong end of expected goals statistics. Favre has a reputation of predicting well how opposing teams, coaches or players tend to react in certain situations. To play this style Favre pays attention to details and technique especially one-to-one.[11][12][13][14][15]
Favre is also well known for his ability to develop talented young players and introduce them into the first team. Under his leadership, Blerim Džemaili, Almen Abdi, Steve von Bergen and Gökhan Inler all made their debut with the Switzerland national team before signing for foreign clubs. In 2007, Zürich became Swiss champions with an average age of 21.5 years. He is also credited with raising the game of German starlet Marco Reus, whose fine performances procured a call up to the Germany national team and a high-priced move to league champions Borussia Dortmund; Marc-André ter Stegen, who eventually joined Barcelona; and Christoph Kramer. Another example of his ability to develop youngsters into widely sought after, talented players is seen in Granit Xhaka, who initially struggled when he joined Gladbach but, under Favre's tutelage, eventually thrived, becoming one of the best central midfielders in Germany and sealing a move to Arsenal for a fee reported to be in excess of €30 million.
Would love Favre, but think our chance with him was pre-Dortmund.

Kovac
Was thinking about Kovac. Looking at his game style (at Frankfurt), I'm not sure we've got the players to suit.

He just signed a new contract, so he's costing anyone a lot more.

Delph is all but ruled out.
Ah bugger... Throw a challenge to Beni?

Pickford
Sidibe Mina Holgate Digne
Delph
Davies Gylfi
Iwobi Charli
DCL/Tosun
No point playing Morgan, we need to go for a win and need guys that can play a killer ball.
Probably going to be a bit crowded around the middle of the front 3rd, so might need to swap Walcott in for Iwobi to keep more width.
Prefer DCL, but if we're trying to break down a tight defense, Tosun's feet are probably better.
Gordon better be on the bench, the youthful exuberance and creativity we need to pull out a result (or to give a much deserved run, if winning).

Anyone else worried that Gylfi's goal will convince Marco to start him against Brighton?
If he did, Iwobi's picking out the goalkeeper would have to play a role.

The 18-20yr old players that make it into a top half premier league team are pretty rare (or in an "unsexy" position).
Take a look at where the majority of our current starters were at 18 - 20. They were playing regularly, in lower leagues/teams.
Richarlison's are rare enough, but even he went via Fluminense and Watford. Mount and Tomori spent 2-3 years on loan. Sancho had to leave.
Regular, senior, competitive football is a critical part of their development. We're holding on to kids for too long in u18s & u23s. If we think they're potentially good enough but aren't willing to risk playing/developing them, then we need to be loaning them out.
Whether you think he's good enough or not, don't think anyone can argue that DCL hasn't improved since getting increased senior minutes.

Prefer Davies over Morgan.

Needed to take more of a risk today, should have hooked Schneiderlin for Davies.

Ah ok, I didn’t think you meant put him in the team for a league game. Fair enough mate.
That's just assuming they're taking the cup run seriously, otherwise flip the games.

Didn’t we get Wednesday away?
We did... but I'm suggesting they start him against United at home, with Gomes and/Delph held over for Wednesday.

If gbamin was healthy Davies would be 5th choice at cm behind Gomes Delph Morgan gbamin.
He's better than Morgan, mostly a different role though.
Even at 4th choice, I'd agree with the loan. Needs to be playing regularly. Not to the champs though, he's already better than that. Lower prem or bundesliga.
Moot point though. He's stuck till January and Silva needs to get him game time.
If we're going for the cup, Sheffield United at home probably a good chance to start.

Scored 2, winning 2 penalties (hit post with one), in an 8:2 demolition.
Looked to be playing on the right wing, prefer to get him on the bench instead of Walcott.
-
Would definitely have him on the bench

He could if we go with a forward 3.
Iwobi Kean/DCL Richarlison
Start of the season (injury permitting) would have to be
Bernard DCL Richarlison
Iwobi and Kean will need time to settle in, before trying to displace Bernard and DCL.

Think we have to hold fire until end of season. (Realistic) available options aren't good enough and can only see an Arteta/assistant manager type, making the move mid season.
Someone willing to solidify the backline for 6 months only, would be perfect in the meantime.
