I noticed that too! Something Koeman never did.
Gotta say - I was pretty impressed with his presser. Nothing else to do now than to back him and see EFC rise in the table and in confidence. Any proper EFC fan that wishes failure upon him at this point needs a lobotomy. You don't have to love him, but you have to love the club and he is now leading it. COYB.

I'm just so crushed right now. There are no words. We've been here before, but this feels different. Gutted.

This is a joke right? With the stellar, worldclass cast of characters we currently have, somehow Niasse is worse than them with a goal every 76 minute ratio?

I agree with Shukes. I don't give a frying fuck if Sir Alex AND Jose walked in here to manage this mess - the point is we are a MESS -  with WAY bigger problems than can be solved in 2 or 3 matches. Koeman has set this squad up for failure in so many aspects, and here we are expecting miracles in 2 weeks. We need to look at reality right now folks - imo it wouldn't make a difference who you played today, we have issues. People are bitching and moaning that we didn't play the "new" guys - well guess what guys? We played the "new" guys since the summer and they given us dick-all. That's it, dick-all. I love the fact he didn't cater to the 150m spent this summer - he did what was best for the club, and if anybody can't see that, then you need better glasses.
Give Unsworth time. We need some patience. We need some nurturing. We nned some love. We need to kick some of these players behinds We need to get rid of some players. We need to get some new players. But please don't expect miracles in the span of 11 days 'fer christsakes. Let's not turn this into Swansea and sack the chap after a few hours.

I'm sold on Unsworth. His attitude and passion for this club cannot be bettered. Its also legit - it comes from the heart - this guy knows EFC and he is passionate. I Loved his comment about "letting the players express themselves". Fucking beautiful right there....A+. He's already a winner with the U23's, and imagine what he can accomplish with even stronger players.
I don't think its too soon to make this decision....I say pull the trigger. Love this chap.

What is also REALLY worrying me is that Koeman is having the "deer in the headlights" look for the first time as manager imo during his pre- and post-match interviews. Its pretty similar to when Martinez the Clown was shitting the bed in the winter/spring of the season he was sacked. You can see it in his eyes, you can hear it in both the words he chooses and how he says them. At least Koeman is openly admitting that he is to blame for this utter shite pool that we are currently bathing in, but looking what he has to work with on "paper", I don't think he has many more tricks up his sleeve. These players were supposed to raise this team into new heights and uncharted territories, and ironically it has had the exact opposite effect. The negative aspect of this teams playing and attitude is manifesting and feeding on itself, and I think we we are headed to a possible out-of-control spiral unless something drastic changes in our system, tactics, attitude, pace, spirit, teamwork....you name it...it ALL has to change. Whether this is hyperbole or not, that remains to be seen. But how fucking crazy is it that he is publicly coming out and saying stuff like Keane is devoid of all confidence?! That is just not a good scenario anyway you slice it.
I wanted to believe in Koeman, and with the talk of him possibly going to manage FC Barca someday, I thought we got pretty lucky and made out like a bandit. Now, I am beginning to almost think the opposite...is this guy a fraud? Is he really that clueless on the scouting of players and how to correctly utilize them, as well as basic tactics and systems of play? I really don't know. Yes its a tough run, and its early days, but like Baz said in his video, its the manner in which we have lost, not just the losses themselves.

He took us to 7th last season, it's a fair improvement from the previous two 11th places. Having said that, this is a make or break season for Koeman for me personally. If we slide down the table, then I will have major doubts. If we continue to climb the table at the conclusion of 17-18, then I would say it's working. Big year for him and the players. Do all of these guys have what it takes (management included)? We shall see (said the blind man).

I don't mean this with any disrespect, but at the moment we are more akin to a midtable Championship side than a top PL side fighting for a top 4 place.

The positive I can take away from the past 3 matches is that our defence seems to be somewhat tightened up , albeit we haven't faced true attacking prowess either.

I'm genuinely worried tbh. This goes beyond preseason jitters or rustiness or whatever. We came out like lightning, now it's more like direction-less sludge.

Not sure how you can label Rooney as "a guy who is likely to contribute far less on the field"? Says who? Let's see how the (potential) season goes before we cast judgment on how many minutes player X or player Y is going to log, yet alone "contributions". Do we have a crystal ball here? The guy could end up starting most matches, some, or just a few, but we don't know that yet.

In terms of wages, sorry, but look at Rooney's achievements and then look at the rest of the team. Who has the trophies, history, records? Correct me if I'm wrong, but not many, if any at all. Maybe Rom? Honestly man, why do I need to worry if Jags or Gana are jealous of Rooney's wages? That is not my problem, and it seems petty at best. There are people who get paid to deal with that shit, not me, so I don't need to concern myself with that part of the deal.

How do you put a monetary amount on the influence he may have in the locker room? Notice I said 'may', because of course I'm speculating. What is fact is the bloke is a winner and a leader, and his influence may prove to be invaluable in relation to this new Everton squad.

There are two ways of looking at this: those who scoff at the idea (for a multitude of reasons), and those who are willing to give Rooney a chance - and then cast judgement later. I'm in camp two.
