And which of those would you trust to hit the barn door? Lookman and Vlasic have shown promise but have mostly looked out of their depth. Rooney is 32 and on his last legs. DCL is just not a finisher. Lennon? Siggy? You must be joking. We have no real threat up front. Hopefully, that will be soon addressed.

Hopefully, Allardyce will become more progressive when we have a more balanced squad and more threat. If not, he can go, too. Every fan would like to see us playing like Barcelona.

Many games this season have been played with two defensive midfileders and basically no threat on the right and left wings. That means not much support for the attacking player(s). And then you even had players playing out of position which doesn't make things easier.

Personally I see a lot of quality and potential in the current squad if being used right; tactically and mentally. Even though the situation at this point may look a tad bleak to some, we should think in long terms and use these very talented young players we have and not just buy players to fill up positions we already cover quite nicely.

And really... not every fan would like to see us play like Barca. Personally I find this style of football quite boring.

We got absolutely battered under unsworth.  Demoralised.  He's a youth manager and a loyal blue.  Job was too big for him. I was fully behind him but ffs we didn't look good.

Under sam we have stopped conceding goals.... Simple as that

Job too big for him? We don't know, do we. Unsworth never got a fair chance and took directly over Koemans mess. And also had to deal with some tough away-games.

I said this a few days ago. I was told something like, “It doesn’t matter. At least we’re getting points.”

Yeh. It's pretty sad it has come to this really. Think I even saw someone mention it's because we have a poor players...

Again; if it just about getting results no matter what then it's not interesting. Clubs buying succes is NOT what I want EFC to be.

  4. A piss-poor derby. I was embarrassed to watch it. Not giving 'pool three points is however a light in the dark. Well done.

Just can't help thinking about what would have happened if Sam had dared to go for the win, and he should have; it's a bloody derby. Herr Klopp didn't set up the best team and they were somewhat shaken after Rooneys goal.

I'm all for building up confidence into the players, but I really don't want to see EFC play like that.

  5. I can totally understand the emotions some of you are going through and that you're frustrated with the way things are. But talking about relegation at this point is, in my mind, silly.
As I wrote in another post, I saw these hmm issues last season and had high hopes that it would have been taken care of during the summer. These issues would involve certain players, coach staff and a manager, but none of those things were being dealt with.
So I'm not really surprised that things aren't working. Dissapointed, of course. But not surprised.

So we point fingers at certain players and the manager. Yes, that's all the part of closely following and supporting a team. BUT, we should at all times be behind the club and in objective ways discuss the difficult situations that any club sees from time to time.
So personally I don't see, at this point, any relegation. We're Evertonians, damn it.

  6. I think some here see this as something that just happened this season. And I think you're wrong. Personally I saw some of these issues last season even though that most think it was quite a succesful one. I had high hopes that those issues would have been taken care of during the summer, but I was wrong.

I could write some player-names here that I thought would be gone by now, but that would not help any in our current situation.

It will take some hard work to build up the confidence of the players and coaching staff again. But we will! And these things usually begins from the top.

And please stop blaming Unsworth. That's not nice of any of you. He took over something that was already a bloody mess.

  7. 1-1

What a spectacular right-foot shot by Sigurðsson. Well done!
Pesonally I would like to see Rooney on D. Calvert-Lewins position. Though Rooney really needs to stay up there and not try to play dm/m.
Another thing; Gana is as usual all over the place without much thinking for the defensive part. I fear he will maybe cost a penalty or something. Take him out.

Keane really needs to mark his opponent close or we will get in trouble.

As someone posted at the BBC site today, it's ridiculous how poor managers get fired, take an extended holiday, and then walk into another job. Sadly, these are the managers with whom we're mostly being associated.

We should be patient. There's really no rush.

Very much this, if you ask me. Rushing, unless you had a curry too much, is usualy not the answer.

It's a huge gamble to hire anybody, all top notch managers got where they are by having endless amounts of money to spend on all the best players in the world.

Mourinho wouldn't get our team into the top six at the moment,  we are a team that should reach seventh but no higher.  It will take a lot of years and a lot of money building a top class squad to achieve anything  more.

You're sadly right. All know by now that it's all about money. That goes for the clubs, players, TV-stations, companies etc.. and yes, even some of us, right. It's more busines than football, and I don't like that. It has become too much. Any, more or less, can get instant success by spending money. And I don't find that interesting.

By the way. Mourinho would destroy a club like ours. He doesn't develop, he uses

If Unsworth is hired until the end of the season could he attract the quality we need in January? We need a proper quality striker brought in in January, not just a can do a job lad or promoting Byrne or whoever from the U23s. Could Unsworth do it? Would a quality striker want to sign for someone who probably wouldn't be the manager past that summer? I'm not so sure.

I tell you what; players that sign with EFC because of the manager and not the club can piss off. In a perfect world it could, of course, be both.

Trying to buy succes is short-term related (which we already have seen) and can last shorter than a beer at the Oktoberfest. Building up is not and I think we here on TT should back up Unsworth for, in my view, obvious reasons.

  11. From a football-wieving point, I'd personally like to see Ireland go through. To be honest; I havn't really seen any good football from Denmarks side for many years. Damn shame the Laudrup-kids didn't seem to have the motivation/talent to progress.

On the other side I have had many good laughs with my younger brother when Denmark played. So if not playing good then at least they usually do something entertaining/clownish.

Hopefully tonights match will be entertaining and dramatic.

My question to you guys, are you really shocked about the results last night? Most people on SoMe seem genuinely shocked that Sweden knocked out Italy but I'm not. Italy have been poor lately and Sweden are a good team.

Not shocked at all. You have and have had many talented players on the swedish national team. Grattis, Peter H och Sverige.

Is this the same Davies that is the reason Gana went charging at their player (rightly or wrongly)?

Both of them were abysmal but for some reason little Tom gets off without a mention. Is it his luscious blonde locks?

If you had read my other posts regarding Gana, you would know that some of us in here thinks/knows that Gana makes any player next to him look like a headless chicken. Hence my remark on him being a luxery-player for the team.

None in here should doubt the qualities of Davies, right. That the twat Koeman didn't use him right or kept him on the bench has of course not benefited Davies... or the rest of the team, for that matter.
