I really want this rumour to die. This would be a terrible purchase -- he hasn't done anything to warrant that price.

Missed the first 25 minutes but couldn't believe how often we gave possession away. Rooney one of the biggest offenders. On the few occasions we got the ball out wide in attack, there was no one in the penalty area. We seem to be playing without a striker. We played almost identical to the Man City game, conceding possession and packing defence.

Good result, but there's quite some room for improvement. And some of them are tactical as I see it.

Yeah looks a bit rusty and slightly off the pace but he's a smart player. Glad he's back and healthy.

Wasted opportunity.

I'd rather replace Davies with GS. Schneiderlein is a more important player for us, particularly with the lead and I'd trust Gylfi's experience and workrate over Klassen in his second PL game in a high pressure spot.

indeed a garden fork would be a better option to some, at least the fork would be less likely to pass the ball back everytime we had posession

When Martina seems like the occasional spark in the game, it speaks for itself of the overall game and the performance of our players...

I don't mean this with any disrespect, but at the moment we are more akin to a midtable Championship side than a top PL side fighting for a top 4 place.
 
The positive I can take away from the past 3 matches is that our defence seems to be somewhat tightened up , albeit we haven't faced true attacking prowess either.

Another boring and defensive half of football.
 
It's a waste to play Rooney, DCL or Sandro wide so I think we need to play 442. Maybe put Klaassen wide and use Mirallas/Lookman left. We can't keep giving the ball back to them so cheaply and we need to start playing in their half not ours.

I'm genuinely worried tbh. This goes beyond preseason jitters or rustiness or whatever. We came out like lightning, now it's more like direction-less sludge.

Sandro and Rooney wide doesn't work. They don't know where they should be.
