  1. It's a well documented rule, the Spanish are really hot on things like that for tax evasion and money manipulation purposes, I guess I could pull together a few sources if you really wanted me to, but a quick Google search would probably clarify what you need . On a slightly off topic note, as painful as it is this is Barcelona's best chance of keeping in business - they're sailing unbelievably close to the wind at the moment and even without Messi need to urgently strip players from the books.
  2. Just when you thought you might miss out on seeing Benitez!
  3. I highly doubt that Moshiri, or Kenwright for that matter get involved in any form of the season ticket process, other than the price for budget purposes. I'd assume that the season tickets are being dealt with by the hospitality department, who will more than likely have a Manager/Director that reports into the board.
  4. I'll be honest the Covid situation has been clear as mud in terms of going to the game, wherever you look there are different guidelines. I'm just going to take an LFT on Saturday morning and take proof to the game, at least then I can show that I'm negative and get into the ground - I'm having my second vaccination tomorrow so by the time the next home game comes along I'll probably be close to just having to show proof of the jab.
  5. Southampton are going to be right in the mix for relegation, so it concerns me that I'm not confident at all about Saturday. I think it could be a high scoring draw with two teams that can't defend, giving up silly goals that lead to points being dropped on either side. Just hope it's a positive day, although I think it's going to be a very weird atmosphere.
  6. He wasn't though, it was an attempt (which was successful) to overthrow Bartomeu the then President of Barcelona. Messi had no intention of leaving Camp Nou, hence why he didn't.
  7. Spanish law dictates that any new contract must be at least 50% of the old one, Messi accepted to slash his salary in half to stay at Barcelona but even with such a reduction couldn't be registered due to the club's financial position - there's literally no way he could stay. They aren't crocodile tears at all, this is a man who has grown up through the ranks at La Masia (the club even provided bone treatment to allow him to grow) and is being forced to leave due to measures out if his control. It's an incredibly sad day for football and it's completely justified how he's feeling - the man should have completed the journey at Camp Nou, but has had that chance taken away from him. I'm sorry and don't take this the wrong way but the above post is factually incorrect and as a result a bit disrespectful.
  8. Broke my heart at Wembley when he scored that 90th minute winner, it's a no from me - my nightmares won't allow it. In all seriousness, what @Romey 1878 said.
  9. Sad to read his retirement message, with the mental health issues around the world hopefully he looks as the positives of his career (he made it as a professional footballer, lived the dream) rather than the negatives that plagued him in the early years. Like he says himself, coming back from so many years out of the game was always going to be an uphill battle. Hopefully he can move forward into the next stage of his life with happiness and optimism, everyone makes mistakes and unfortunately he paid a large price for his.
  10. Kai Havertz isn't a striker, he's a number 10. Timo Werner however is a striker, so will more than likely be on the bench for the upcoming season with Lukaku coming through the door. Tammy Abraham is likely to leave the club, but I wouldn't touch him with a barge pole.
  11. The essence of sport is to win. 1st is the best and 2nd is the first loser, the countries competing in the Olympics should be graded based on who has the most Gold medals as in a nutshell they are the countries that are the best at the sport they are competing in, they are the countries that have quite literally won. There isn't an argument IMO that the most amount of medals is the way to go as in theory it just means that you've been decent at a sport but simply not good enough to be the best. I like basketball, but what infuriates me every year is that the winners of the NBA (made up of teams from USA & Canada) become the world champions. Such ignorance.
  12. Just think it's pre-season, as soon as we go 1-0 down to Southampton inside the first 10 minutes it's going to absolutely go off. I thought that the toxicity when Martinez was on his last legs was bad, but this is going to take it to a whole new level. Honestly, really wouldn't be surprised to see him walk/sacked as early as October, just because of how much of a clusterfuck it's going to be.
  13. Everton website keeps crashing and I've been trying to log in for the past 15 minutes, got the United Stand on as commentary though and sounds like an absolute bloodbath, 2-0 down inside the first few minutes doesn't fill me with tons of confidence when you consider that we're kicking off our season in a weeks' time. Never been so not arsed about going back the ground, going to be an absolutely shit time this - can you imagine if this was a league game the toxicity surrounding Benitez already?
  14. Will cost a fortune to get his name on the back of my shirt so it's a no from me.
  15. It's not as finalised as Barcelona are letting on, they're just putting pressure on the LFP to change the rules (allowing them to pay his wages). I wouldn't be surprised if there are more twists and turns in the Messi saga, he had an extension agreed as recently as yesterday.
  16. Can see City pulling out of the Kane deal and using what they would have spent on bringing Messi to the club. That is of course if the LFP don't bend the rules to allow Barcelona to register him.
  17. Vettel disqualified as they could only take 0.3 litres of fuel from his car (and there needs to be at least 1.0 litre). Hamilton promoted to 2nd.
  18. What a start . Bottas way too late on the brakes and he collects Norris (alongside the two Red Bulls). Sky reporting that Marko is absolutely fuming, with Max's car being ripped apart as we speak to repair the damage that he's taken. If they can get it going Max will get good points though, probably won't get the race win with Hamilton starting P1 but could very much get in and amongst the top 5, even if Hungary is notoriously hard to overtake at. Stroll taking out Leclerc was insane too, tried to get onto the grass to avoid contact but it wasn't to be, Charles a total passenger. Lando has just been told to retire too !
  19. Like last time, the Super League would be an absolute disgrace to football but am I that arsed? Not really. The "Big Six" have been taking the piss and doing what they feel like for years (perhaps decades now). Even though it would ruin football as I know it, them fucking off and us having an actual fair domestic league wouldn't be all too bad.
  20. Celtic are in absolute tatters, it's only going to get uglier up there with some pretty poor scenes on social media surrounding their fans before KO. You can honestly see them failing to make it past Jablonec in the Europa League and having no European football this season which when you consider this time last year they were gearing up for the record breaking 10th title in a row is insane. If Rangers play their cards right, they could dominate like Celtic have in the past nine years, as it's just an absolute mess on the green side of Glasgow - the question is whether Aberdeen can finally bridge the gap and claim 2nd. Pleased for Hearts though, met a really nice bloke on holiday once who was pretty high up on one of the Supporters Trust groups - they've had it tough recently with shite owners, so hopefully this is them on the road to some form of a recovery.
  21. Arsenal are dreadful, can't see how they're having a good season. Spurs on the other hand depends on whether Kane moves on (which I think is unlikely). I don't rate NES though so can see them too being a bit shit. Edit: Of course 48 hours later Kane doesn't show for training . 100% out the door now, if City can afford both him and Grealish.
  22. They finished 15th out of 18 in the Mexican league too so even though it's early pre-season, I'm expecting a win for us here. On another subject, amazes me how every single season like clockwork they fuck up on EvertonTV, always a technical issue !
  23. I've only ever hated one player at Everton and that was Ashley Williams (and have documented why multiple times on here) but Fabian Delph is getting up there now too - absolutely disgusting thing to post after the year everyone has had. Said it a long time ago but I'd be made up if we just binned him off, I'd be happy using the transfer budget to get rid of him - bringing in one less player but paying off Delph would get a massive thumbs up from me. Didn't want him at the start and have wanted him back out of the door every second since.
