    Tamworth

The result was the important thing today, would we really care if we played badly in a cup semi-final but still managed to win! 1-0 would have been ok against Tamworth, it was all that was required. The bigger picture!!..........Players under performing, injured players, small'ish' squad, struggling for goals etc, the bigger picture, this season, is to finish no worse than 4th from bottom. Sure I'd like 6th or 7th, but things have to change quite a bit before we can even hope for that. I'm not saying things can't be turned around, it's just without a decent slice of luck, plus a major improvment from the players we really should be more realistic. At full strenght, on form, we can match most. Were not at full strenght, and certain players are way off the top when it comes to performance.Neither of those two things are down to Moyes or Bill come to that, it's just the position we are in. We can still win the FA Cup

    Tamworth

If Tamworth hold us for most of the first half, the mood of the crowd and panic on the pitch could well have us looking at an upset. Maybe we can push Howard forward a bit, get him overlaping. Tamworth will have had scouts at the last few games, they will have gone back with their reports......once everyone finished laughing, they will know Phil and Tim probably aren't going to cause too many problems. They will have gained confidence from our recent poor form, they must realise they DO have a small chance. I hope the players and supporters of Tamworth have a great day. A prediction on the score......Howard to bulge the net with a header from a corner in the last minute.1-0.
  3. Present situation is pretty scary! We will probably be a bit too good for Tamworth, but lets be honest, that's only just about 'pappering over the huge cracks'. Small squad, some of our (so called) better player just aren't good enough, Cahill and Neville spring to mind.Sahahahah, sorry this is no laughing matter will only ever regain his goalscoring prowess when he get's expert service from creative midfielders (so that's probably a no no for now) are Rodwell and Barkley really as good as we are led to believe! Injuries, they could happen to anyone, but we sure as hell don't need any more.Maybe a player or two ready to stand back and watch Donovan run rings around people, well in the wind and rain that's probably not going to happen. Thank god for Tim Howard, surely our best player this season. Don't bet against a battle to stay in the prem....we are at present THAT poor. Blame!.....I blame Moyes 40%......the players 60%
  4. Gary Ablett, Blue or red didn't matter to him. What he lacked in skill he more than made up for with effort. A good honest footballer. RIP.

    WBA

Romey!....... I read your post, then I read it again. I used to wonder about your sence of judgement when it appeared to me that you didn't/couldn't see the role Lee Carsley was playing and how well he did it.Other small assesments of players quite understandably differ from mine at times......BUT, the above post is nailed 100%, and whilst it is to be honest a slightly sad read (as it shows all is not well at present), it is something that we need to face up too. Excellent post mate.......small example, in the rating of Baines, you highlighted the role of Rodwell as a contributing factor, as quite often the performance of the man next to you or in front plays a major part in ones own performance. The Baines/ Pienaar partnership worked well for both players, neither looks qiute as good without the other

    WBA

Steady game by most, Distin and Ossie standing out, in what was a painfull grinding out of 3 points. Three points away to a team like WBA isn't too shabby! I would think, with a match fit Victor, teams will have their work cut out holding him down, he needs a run and a tad of luck. Caill did a decent amount of work today, just not the Cahill of a couple of seasons back.
  7. How did Adrian Heath get on the coach without his mum? The rest of the players didn't look tht much older either.......maybe just me getting old They had the world at their feet, they probably each owned a brand new Cortina, they had those shiny sports bags (plastic) and were earning something in the rion of £3000 a week........(what the hell could Sheedy, southall and co be earning now?) They were a few bloody good years around about that time to be an Evertonian......I feel 2012 will be the start of a new era, trophies, winning nearly every game, 50,000 crowds........anyway back to the party....now where's my drink, I'm sure I put my pint of wine down somewhere! Happy new year!!........except for you WBA.
  8. Ferguson wore his heart on his sleave, when he was violent or over stepped the mark he served his time be that in jail or on the sideline. He certainly never hid behind his tee shirt wearing team mates or his two faced manager. Ferguson never hid, gave 100% and I'm pretty sure had too much pride to dive and I can't remember him feining injury either (not really his style)....if he stayed down he was usually hurt. Suarez, feins injury, dives and has been declared a racist......GUILTY.Yet you still get dip sticks making him out to be a martyr
  9. When Duncan Ferguson went to prison for headbutting.........did he say, "everyone down my street does it"! No he friggin did the time. It's about time this sympathy crap for Suarez was put to bed.He did it, he's been charged......now just serve the ban and move on. If you want a laugh, check out a rs forum.......this is all a ploy to stop them getting 4th place
  10. I think I know this one! Someone once watched a calf suckling from it's mother and realised something must be worth drinking! Don't forget you city dwellers!.....there could be a BULL in that field......and you don't want that!
  11. Like just about everyone else, I can't be sure exactly what was said between Suarez and Evra, although Suarez has admited saying certain words.....it's just his body language din't look like he was exactly being pleasent ! so!.......he was using a word that we are assured by a reds ' uncles columbian internet girlfriend ' ....is a nice word, used when you are being nice to a coloured person.......why did he look like he wanted to rip his head off whilst uttering sweet nothings into Evras ear? Eight games ban!.........should be more like 12...........they have a £35 million pound player ready to fill his boots. It's not fair
  12. Your father was a 'glory hunter'........he must be very old .........welcome! I have to admit to a tad of glory hunting myself....really got into Everton after the 69-70 season.Stayed the course, try as they might they couldn't friggin shake me off. They tried pretty hard at times!
  13. OK, I'll say it (or rather ask it)- you won't like it, but here goes..... Where would Man City be without the Arabs money?
  14. "The greatest footballer you never saw".......The Robin Friday Story! The skill of Duncan McKenzie, the size, strength and 'playing style' of Duncan Ferguson and the life style of ........, well to be honest no player who valued his health and sanity (those are my words). Would have loved to have seen him perform......... Don't suppose anyone on here did see Robin Friday play? 1974-77...Reading/Cardiff City.

    Arsenal

Don't worry about it TonkaRoost, I hardly get to any Everton games, but I've played plenty and coached a team for a few years. With that and the tv highlights, streams etc, it's not hard to see when a player isn't giving 100% or when a manager gets it wrong. You really don't have to be pitch side. If you've started following Everton in the last few years your hardly a 'bandwagon jumper'.....that could only be leveled at a person who joins a team whilst they are doing well.....hardly us in the last couple of seasons! I like Moyes, but questions should be able to be asked of him.
  16. The third goal, Duncan Ferguson would have been happy wih that! (outstanding header) Watching various tributes you realise not only did he score many goals, but the quality of those strikes were outstanding. Not a huge winner of medals, I guess Gary will be remembered for something more important than that.
  17. Taxis are about outside the ground, though they get taken pretty quick, you might be lucky. We usually go at a steady trot towards the city and there's a road on the left (don't know the name) where there is usually quite a few taxis waiting. The road is about a 5 min jog, I did my ankle running down there once, so just watch those friggin slabs
  18. For Garry to leave his two boys, his problems must have seemed unbeatable. His turmoil will undoubtably be exposed! You graced us here at Everton, you have our thanks for that. I hope you've found your peace................rip Gary Speed.
  19. Cahill, on his day, fully fit and with a back wind was probably for a couple of seasons the best in the prem at filling the slot behind the lone striker. If the said lone stiker was on form and the team played to their strengths (Cahills and the strikers), then we were pretty much a team opponents didn't fancy.Cahill unsettled defenders and scored plenty of goals. He hasn't had the impact of late, maybe he isn't fit, perhaps teams can handle him better.I think it's fair to say if he's played in general midfield and we are still employing a single striker, then his role is questionable. He doesn't do well in midfield, I'm not sure he ever really has.In his prime other than the slot behind the striker then a position beside the striker would have been more usefull than midfield. He has (like everyone) a shelf life, maybe a season ago would have been a good time to grab some decent cash.Knowing when to sell is an art. He's been great, but maybe an impact sub would make a lot of sence.
  20. You don't think £200,000 a week is more indecent than £70,000 a week!! ........I wish you were my boss.
  21. Bluesky!.....why the fuc% are you so interested in Evertons problems? surely the city forums are buzzing at the moment, you've spent billions, your top of the league, you're going to win(sorry buy) loads of trophies.......why oh why are you so bothered about Everton! Are we your little project. Even some of Citys best fans were pissed of with the price you were forced to pay for Lescott, and the fact that for the last couple of seasons were were beating you home and away........is it that now you've finally beaten us and are sitting pretty at the top that you are here gloating at our problems. You weren't here last season.........you just seem to always be around, why not on city forums?
  22. If his wages were right, and he really wanted to come back, I'd take him in a heartbeat. His partnership with Baines was at times outstanding.
  23. Didn't see the game, haven't really heard much about it, but a couple of things mentioned above are food for thought, one "United parked the bus", that hasn't been said very often relating to a match with Everton and secondly "Rodwell had a good game" ,another statement that's worthy of a bit of hope! Couple of wins and we will be top half and building momentum......just a gut feeling. For the record, for what it's worth, I haven't really seen much of Coleman this season, but I rate him.
  24. Faced with an even longer round trip than the poster above, and only making at present a couple of games a season (have only ever been to six games in any season) I have to admit that it probably wouldn't matter how good the views were, it just wouldn't make much difference to how many times I attended a game. I like Goodison Park and I'll come when I can, but you have to presume the bulk of any crowd has to be local support.surely a stadium built to seat over 50,000 is asking for trouble if the team has a bad season or two. Times are hard for some people and could get tougher, if we are only getting high 30,000's at present where are the extra 10,000 + people coming from? Redevelop Goodison to get an extra 5,000 seats in, get a decent team on the park, pack the grand old lady with Evertonians and frighten the fuc% out of the opponents.I'll take a restricted view seat at Goodison and make an 8/9 hour round trip if it's to sit in a packed iconic stadium watching an Everton team playing good football. A 3/4 full concrete circle with no atmosphere might make the journey seem a bit too far .
  25. Hello Chester fan,my old PE teacher used to be a fan of your team (probably before you were born....mid 70's).He was also the teacher tasked with giving us kids the 'slipper' (that's a whack on the arse with a trainer) He was a big bloke with a good swing, promted most of us to have Cester FC as our second team.....though from how much it still hurt, I don't think he believed us . What made you choose an Everton forum?
