We don't quite know how to react to positivity. It breeds suspicion.

If we could get Gnoto, Chermiti, and another depth striker ready to contribute this season in I'll be legitimately confused. Addressing needs while pursuing players for the future would be odd indeed.

Fosse Captain got a reaction from Matt in Summer news for 23/24 season - kits/friendlies/fixtures
Pre season is about getting sharp, matchday helps, but for sure it's a training session mentality.
Personally I thought we were (overall) solid at the back yesterday, which last seasons stats also prove.
We just offer zero attacking threat, and we all know that.
Danjuma looked like he'd only trained for a day, so cant be faulted. Dobbin was ok in flashes.
Biggest downsides were Keane, Maupay and Iwobi for me.
New season, its all a bit 'meh'. We will play deep and be hard to break down. But the flip side is we have no outlet and will get the feeling you can only defend for your lives for so much in a game.
Wins will be by a single goal.

Somehow score 10 more goals a season and that will pull us into the mid table abyss of mediocrity as will be worth another 9-12 points.
    Excited?? No
But not doom and gloom ......... yet

I think you’re actually supportive by my argument to be fair. You are right about the Onana ball, it was good football not just from Onana, but from the other players. Possibly support big my point that Dyche isn’t just a long ball coach.

I’ve watched the Gana ball a few times, and to be fair… I was a pretty decent players and still can play a bit. So it may just look simpler to me as I honestly think it’s the type of ball a forward should thrive off.
End of the day we will see how Dyche wants to play, by the players that we are trying to buy. If he goes for a target man like Dom then he wants to concentrate on that style. If he goes for players who play a different style…. Then he is trying the options style.

The club will dictate it, not us.

I do agree with Matt though, friendlies are glorified training sessions. Always have been and always will.

Not picking on you specifically, but I don't remember a preseason where we weren't half-arsed and shite against "lesser" opposition, even when we were challenging for Europe.
These are glorified training sessions and the players will be playing accordingly because the games don't matter and won't want to risk injury. As soon as we get competitive games and they still look like that, then I'll worry around February again.
Until then, these are exercise sessions and the window still has a while until its shut. We've been pipped by more attractive clubs but the fact we've had confirmed interest in the likes of Toure, tells me we've got money for 1 big signing and it's going to be a forward.
It's not all dire, lads. In fact unbeaten in preseason and 2 players in for buttons is actually quite positive. Or at least a lot more positive that I expected

We are shopping in the right sort of window. If players chose elsewhere over us, then so be it. We can't be paying over the odds on wages on players that are still really only prospects.
On the back of two relegation fights and boardroom turmoil, we are currently seen as a dynamic improving club. What the club needs to be focusing on is changing the perception of Everton FC to up and coming players.
Plenty of fish in the seas as they say. (well up until the end of August!)

It’s all very exciting so it’s going to be such an anticlimax when we end up getting Weghorst on 1 September !

It's not though. The fact we made this move showed that the talk of him was nothing but nonsense.
    Please, ffs, stop believing everything!

He has surprised me in the last 5-6 months, he is showing the attributes of why we bought him in the first place, strange that Lampard signed him yet couldn’t get much of a tune out of him, obviously down to lack of experience by both parties and the experience of Dyche has helped play to his strengths and potential.  Long may it last.

Because quite a few of our first team squad are missing there.
And if the players that have left since the end of the season, none we first team players.

DCL being fit WILL be a first team player for me. Danjuma  WILL be a first team player for me.
Branthwaite will be a better option than Mina for me. Gomes is a very good option for me.
Even Deli being back gives us an option.

Gbamin leaving is a nothing for me.
    Davies isn’t really a loss.
Mina will not be a miss for me, same for Coady.  Simms was a waste of time coming back other than a solitary goal.
Im baffled how you feel any of those players should be anywhere near the first team.

No I don’t so that’s my problem with KI he’s no better than Maupay, and is definitely not a good substitute for DCL.

Agreed. Want him to be given a chance.
If he's not performing than obviously move him on, but to say 'We're here for you..........but don't want want you' wouldn't sit right with me.
But I'm no expert on the issues he's suffering with, so don't know how best to help him
I'd prefer us to back him and at least let him try and perform in training / friendlies
Either way, I was never anti-dele, he's a superb player who improves us. But that's not the main focus now, I just hope he can get the help he needs to move forwards in his life. Football is a by-product of him being 'happy' again

I do get the impression that the club and Dyche have tried to treat him well; helping him with his recovery and giving him the patience and time he needs.
The interview he did recently obviously shed a lot of light on what was going on, and he seemed to really be wanting to get back to his best.
I do hope that he can do that, and it would be great to see him do that that with us, because there is a very good player in there somewhere.
I would like to think that he will be given a chance here to show what he can do. But if the club and the player decide that a loan spell to the Championship would be better for his recovery, then I suppose you can't argue with that.
Depression, addiction, trauma... these are not things that you just wake up one day and are free from. It takes time to heal.
Whatever happens he'll need support to get back to fulfilling his potential, but I'm not going to lie; I would love that potential to be fulfilled in an Everton shirt with the the full support of the club and the fans behind him.

Moving him on will he discussed with him. He may feel that going on loan and getting regular game time may be the best move for him at this stage.
He is being looked after by the club, he said so himself.
Don't fall into the trap of making every club decision to be a disaster. Leave that to the press.

What do players know or not like about us, plenty seem happy to leave behind not many seem happy to come. I’m starting to get a little concerned it’s not long till we entertain Fulham in the first game of the season, and so far like last Jans window we’ve only managed to become as a squad weaker than before the window opened.

Yes Vardy, free agent, and the right age group for us now, and far superior stats, that people seem so interested in.
I realise we are shopping in pound land now, but buying the same shit as Tosson, keane, maupay, Walcott, etc just making the same mistakes over and over but expecting a different result, give the kids a chance, now there is a novel idea.
