As a left footer, I am pretty sure Rodriguez will be used mainly on the right wing, as will be much more dangerous when cutting infield. As I mentioned we do need an upgrade on Coleman in an attacking sense  - he is 32 in a few weeks time, so he is bound to be slowing down a little now. Coleman is still an important player, but we do need another option at right back
Whichever position he plays, hopefully with Rodriguez in the starting line up the quality of the football in the final third will be better.

I agtee, and i have said before big part of the shambolic transfers over the past 4years has in the main been down to Moshiri and almost over egerness to build a better team. He has spent with the right intentions, lesson being you can't just throw big wages at players!!
But it sounds luke we are a little more sencible. Rodrigeuz is reportedly taking about a 50% pay cut in order to come here. Straight away Rodriguez has my respect. Given he would have been available as a free transfer in 12 months time, i am sure he would have been able to get a sign on fee and better wage deal. I would guess by signing for us, Rodriquz is giving up around £4m to £5m a year for the next 3years!!! So maybe a sacrifice of at least £15m!! So he will have a vastly different attitude to a lot of big money signings made in the past. He is not going to be lacking passion and enthusiasum, he is definately come here with hunger and a point to prove.
Just for taking a significant paycut Rodriques gets my respect however this transfer turns out. His agent must be puling his hair out!! 😂

Moving Gylfi on would be a massive bonus - i dont even care if we get a fee for him or not now, just get him off the wage bill and make room in the squad for other players. He just somehow symbolises the shambolic period of spending we went through. The sooner the better that mis-spending becomes a distant memory.

One of Ancelotti strengths as a manager is that he has successfully used a number of playing systems throughout his career and is very good at building a system around the players he has- Although, even he has struggled getting much out of what he had at his disposal at Everton - (a bit of bad luck that Gbamin and Delph have not been available much of the season and Gomes returning from a nasty injury - this can't be overlooked as a part of the reason we have been so poor in the middle of the park this season gone), so has been a little bit hamstrung to say the least.
Think the three players we are being heavily linked with will have a massive impact.
If there is anything left in the pot - I would definitely like a keeper who can at least put some pressure on Pickford. Difficult to actually 'drop' him at the moment, he is getting a free pass - if he was elsewhere on the pitch he would have been on the bench for much of last season. Can't see a direct replacement (although would love that) coming in, but at least have somebody who makes him look over his shoulder a bit and have to work to keep his starting spot.

Although he will get a decent enough basic salary, salaries can also be topped up with bonses for appearances, goals, assists, getting in to europe etc. I am sure these sorts of things can more easily be negotiated in to the package for a player who seems to really want to come here.
My gut feeling is that Rodrigeze whats to come to Everton for footballing reasons and not becasue we are simply waving a exessive salary in front of him. This is key to my enthusiasum for him coming.
I think he will come with a hunger in his football. So i am very excited by the prospect of him wearing a blue shirt. I think players around him will also be motivated by the addition of such a player.

I don't believe any of this - at 19 years old, Kean wasn't purchased last season to make any sort of immediate impact at the club.  He is in a new league (probably the toughest there is) and new country. Do you give up on a signing like this after 12 months? - no chance.
Anybody talking of him as 'flop' or 'not the player we hoped' doesn't have a clue - some fooking lazy (and useless) journalism if you ask me.

If Rodriquez didn't have some risk attached to him, then we wouldn't be getting a look in on signing a player of this quality. Unfortunately, that's the painful truth of where we are as a club. Its not often things align when we actually get the chance to make a signing of this calibre. We have to take some calculated risks.
I am working on the assumption that he might be available to play 50% of our games given his injury record - I would take that now. He is a country mile better than any player we have on our wings at the moment.
When oppertunity knocks - sometimes you just have to take it.

Sounds like he is definately coming to us now. So it will just be a question under what contract. Think I am kind off hoping a three year deal on reduced wages, but loan would be good, in the hope that he enjoys it so much he wants to sign a 2 or 3 year contract and wages wise, if he plays as good as what we know he can and isnt injured to much - just pay him whats fair!!

if the figure of £4M a year wages is true, then he is taking a considerable wage cut to come., almost a 1/3 of what he is on now (apparently) ! 😮. sounds  like he really wants to come be here. puts us in a strong position in negotiations with Real for the transfer fee, we have them over a barrel a bit. they don't want him and one year left on his contract
if he stays injury free - this could be huge transfer. A truly world class player, coming with his own personnel point to prove!! 3 year contract at 29 on the wages quoted would be a brilliant bit of business.

Latest report (i know to take any report with a pich of salt!!) is that he is willing to take a pay cut to get a help facilitate a move to Eveeton. Now if that is true it is a massive difference to some of maybe our more questionable recent signings. He is not coming here to get that one massive final contract, he is coming here based on a different motivation. If it is true that he would be willing to take even just a small paycut, it is still a significant and meaningful gesture and to me a early good sign. Straight away gets fans on his side more than for a player who you know has come becase we have offered him an inflated pay cheque.  Certain transfers can just end up being just a positive catalyst.
