Latest report (i know to take any report with a pich of salt!!) is that he is willing to take a pay cut to get a help facilitate a move to Eveeton. Now if that is true it is a massive difference to some of maybe our more questionable recent signings. He is not coming here to get that one massive final contract, he is coming here based on a different motivation. If it is true that he would be willing to take even just a small paycut, it is still a significant and meaningful gesture and to me a early good sign. Straight away gets fans on his side more than for a player who you know has come becase we have offered him an inflated pay cheque.  Certain transfers can just end up being just a positive catalyst.

Think its a risk we have to take. Truly a class act of a player. We are realisticaly not going to get a player of his class risk free as 1. He would h demand a huge transfer fee and wages and 2. Most of the top clubs in the world would want him, so we wouldnt get a look in!!!.
Not sure why Real would loan him and pay part of his wages and then see him go on a free next summer. Why not just let him go now for free!! It would be cheaper for them. Its not like its in Real's benefit to see him have a great season while on loan. Him having a great season will us on loan would not benefit us much in the long run, as the would be a que of clubs after him on a free.
A three year contract sounds reasonable, calculated risk

I don't think the Allan transfer is too far away by the sounds of it. All the noises seem to be fairly positive on this front, but I would like to see it done and dusted as I think he will be a biggest signing for us this summer. Considering how bad we where in the middle, he should make the single most impact on the team - a defensive midfielder who acts as a deep-lying player maker.  keen to see him integrated in to the team ASAP.
I think other transfer activities might be a bit slow and a bit of patience is going to be needed.  Just the way the market is going to be.

If we get Allan in before the Spurs game I’ll be more than content to wait longer for other signings. If not, then I’ll be extremely worried about our early games.

We concentrate on Everton, but just look at the general transfer activity in the Premiership and other European leagues. The market is really flat - very few big moves yet. I think things will busy up a little once we are in to September.  Don't forget the window doesn't close until 5th Oct. I bet the fans of most clubs fell the same.
I think the only way to get transfer done quickly is to pay over the odds, but nobody really know what players 'values' currently are in this 'unusual' window. lets not get fleeced again!!.

think this could apply to the whole team and club - extremely unsettled and a lot of chopping and changing everywhere, we desperately need some stability - something solid to then build off. Finger cross we hopefully see this happening over the next couple of seasons. 🤞

I am not overly worried about a CB- I think either Keane and Mina can do a good job in the middle, both are decent defenders. I think our CB's are the players who would benefit the most in confidence if the had a decent tackling midfield in front of them and less unpredictable keeper behind them. I would hate to be a CB playing in front of Pickford.

It was painful how shocking we where in the tackle in midfield this season - Gbamin and Delph being unavailable for selection for most of the season has not helped at all, the two player brought in to give the midfield a bit of tenacity. This problem was confounded when maybe some of attacking players as a collective needing to step up to help cover more with defensive duties - think this just served to make them less effective going forward - so it all just didn't work.
I think Allan has everything in a player we currently need, very good in the tackle, but also a deep lying player maker - apparently his is great passer of the ball and also not afraid to dribble. You have somebody like this in the middle of the pitch - then its like having two players or at least one and a half. It sounds like he wants to come, and just a case of holding our nerve on the transfer fee - really hope this one comes off. I will be genuinely excited if he comes - as I think he will install confidence in the rest of the player around him.
I am also happy to be hearing whispers that Ancellotti is also looking for another keeper to put a lot more pressure on Pickford. Unfortunately, he has been consistently poor over the past couple of seasons that I have lost patience with him. He is somebody now who doesn't installs confidence in the players around him - so brings there game down.
These are the two areas I would like to see the biggest changes this summer - tougher tackling midfield and a reliable goalkeeper.

No, nothing like that. But we didn’t deem him good enough a year ago and he won’t be first choice if we did bring him back. If he’s thinking it through properly he’ll go somewhere he’ll keep playing every week.

crazy wages where being dished out left right and centre because we where (and still are) a fairly average team, desperately wanting to break in to the big time. Players knew it, selling clubs knew it - so we where properly mugged off on a lot of the signings and in all honesty Moshiri can only have himself to blame - we always here the term that signing is a 'statement of intent' - but its the same as saying 'we have got lots of money and are willing to spend it'.
Now I am not going to Moshiri bashing as in the longer term I think he will be great for the club - New stadium, financial backing, I believe he genuinely wants Everton to be a long term and successful project. He just got over excited in the first couple of years (his intentions where good) made a few unfortunate choices in terms of people he brought in to help spend his millions - but all credit to him he has got money in to the club and has spent it!! I don't know how much comes out of his own pocket - but think he has learnt pretty fast that chucking millions at players will not yield a quick up turn in success unless you can afford to do this year after year after year. He has maybe learnt to now leave transfer strategy to footballing people.
As we are still an average team we will still have to pay a little over the odds for 'in-demand' player - its just the market. Just look at Hojbjerg wanting to go to Spur over us, as they have a greater chance of CL football etc. this is not and argument over signing of Hojbjerg, just an illustration of how the only edge we might have over signing in demand player is offering contracts they find difficult to turn down. It's a horrible catch 22.
Man City and Chelsea where fortunate when they where took over by multi billionaire - there where able to pump in massive money year after year until they moved from average teams to contenders to the top team in the country. I remember them having some stinkers of transfers, but it didn't matter as they just bought more to replace them. But few can do it this way, maybe PSG the only other example of this.
Think we are just going to have to try and grow a little more organically than maybe we first hoped. I am still optimistic we will become more competitive, just might take a little more time than many of us hoped.

I feel the same - great player, but somehow feel it might not workout. This could be that if feels like Everton would be a step backward for him - so why would he be want to come. Thus might be paranoia given the volume of high profile duds we are still trying to get rid off.
maybe I should be a bit more optimistic, a good 5 -6 seasons left in a player like him, move in to  a more defensive role a bit like Arteta did at Arsenal - Ramsey would do that role excellently.
I don't think we are in for him to be honest - just one of those stories.
