I'd agree with Michael Owen (always said he was a flash in the pan, like Torres), and Tugay (loved watching him though he could be a dirty player).
 
I'd still take a chance on proven potential rather than a one-season "wonder" like Bony. Benteke is the same to me; great 1st season, ok second (though I know he had injury problems).
 
Not going to argue that Lukaku can be frustrating, all kids developing are (Barkley not releasing passes and holding onto the ball, Gerry too many tricks, Stones occasionally too casual). When he's not being frustrating and banging goals in, a key aspect of a striker, he's very exciting.

Anyway, seems enough time has gone by to safely announce this - I'm apparently going to be a dad, having a little girl Was initially terrified of having a daughter (for reasons Mike is currently experiencing) but slowly just turning into excitement and impatience. I think you have to qualify the whole 'legend' thing with circumstances & the time in which said player ran out in Royal blue. Obviously the likes of Cahill & Ferguson can't be mentioned in the same breath as Ball, Labone, Dean, Southall, Young et al, but in their time they made a big contribution to our history, even if it was just the occasional bright spark amongst the doom & gloom.
