Newty82 got a reaction from Elston Gunnn in Sunderland (Away) Wed May 11
The team play like they don't know each other.

When we are under attack, we pull enough players back to crowd in and around the box but we don't close down. The marking is so slack. Opposition players just run through us.

When we break, the gap between mid and attack is huge. So the attack ends up coming to a halt as we wait for support.

The players don't seem to know where the other is going to run, so if we play at pace we give it away.

It's just so poor. Obviously the boys are low on confidence. And it shows.

Did you read that post from that absolute moron woman who said she was disgusted with Everton fans because not enough of them had 'liked' her post?! What a dick head.

Newty82 got a reaction from duncanmckenzieismagic in Ross Barkley
I don't get why Van Gaal keeps getting brought into it?! Yes, he's spent money there and fucked it up too. Underperformed.

Is anybody mentioning Van Gaal coming to us? No. So where's the relevance? Two wrongs make a right?!

"Oh Moyes wwent in, got rid of great coaches and replaced them with unproven ones and struggled but it's ok because Van Gaal has messed it up to".

It's a totally different scenario...Moyes inherited a set up that won the league...Van Gaal inherited a set up that finished 7th. But both have done shit with good resources.

Anyway...I've just realised this is the Barkley thread!!! I thought I was in the 'If Martinez goes....' thread. Haha.

On Barkley....still for me, when watching him, he needs to know what he is going to do before he gets to the edge of the box, not decide when he gets there. He needs to see the full picture ahead him. And lose this tendency to take extra touches...but I think that us down to him nor knowing what to do next. That might be what stops him being a real top player, that natural visual footballing brain.

On the other hand, it could be that his partner in crime is Lukaku. Early in the season these 2 were on fire. Link up play was pretty good. The last few months they play like strangers. Mind, most of the team do!!!

That you let results tell the story and the board do their job....though that might be the concern!!! Boo's are fair enough, words of discontent fair enough. But after game protests and aeroplane banners...nah.

I just think that Martinez deserves to be treat with more dignity than this. He's not a bad bloke and has done no harm to the club off the pitch. As I've said before, he was a strong candidate who got a good job but just hasn't been able to deliver with the senior team.

What worries me about this is his comments at the end of the article..."it had been 10 months of hard work to get into this position"...what? Cup Semi final and below mid table??? I can't help but feel that Roberto had put his eggs in one basket for this Cup and they've now been smashed to pieces!!!

Newty82 got a reaction from Chach in Now Martinez has gone, who should get the nod...
Ok. Moyes inherited a side that won the league and had all the league and cup winning coaches in place...he got rid of them. He had the advice of Sir Alex Ferguson, he didn't take it. Quite stubborn eh? Van Gaal has had to start again. Different scenario. Not a fan of Van Gaal by the way, so not defending him. No interest in the at all.

While you say Moyes had a better record at United than Van Gaal, it's true that he just beats him on win ratio. Well, Martinez currently beats Moyes win ratio at Everton. So what?!

The other thing I'd say about Moyes/Martinez is that we often hear how Martinez is out of his depth and we should go for someone who knows how to win cups/leagues. Yet a section of our fans want Moyes back who failed at that level and through 11 years with us shown us what his maximum level is. Why on one hand do we say that we shouldn't settle for mediocrity, yet on the other hand we want to appoint a proven mediocre manager? I don't get it! We want to finish in the top 4, but we want to appoint a manager who, including a year at the Champions, only finished top 4 once in 12 years?

I have no issue with Moyes, grateful for the stability he brought to the club. But he couldn't take us further. There's no point going back to him. Aim higher than that.

Put the red card malarkey to one side.

I think we all agree that, while Mori may need polishing up a bit and is a bit rough around the edges, the desire he carries is exactly what we need at the back.

You know he'll run through brick walls for the cause, you know he'll put it all on the line. He has that sort of 'old school' feel about him.

With him at the back, and Besic in the middle...we have that bit of steel and snap in the spine that we need. And that makes up for any short comings in ability they might have.
