2013 Summer Transfers

If I was a player and Monaco came calling I'd go there also...

What a life and what a place to live it, I can fully understand why people get pissed off with it but who wouldn't do what they do if put in their shoes?

Completely agree. Though, i blame the clubs rather than the players.

Stekelenburg to Fulham for £4m, could be a steal.

Ola Toivonen (PSV striker) will apparently be available for £3,5m. He has one year left on his current deal and doesn't want to re-sign, which would apparently mean he'll have to play for their U21s next season. Could be another bargain, seems to me like both Toivonen and PSV will be eager to get a deal done.

Im sure we've been linked with him before.

They have a director of football, Txiki Begiristain.

Never really understood the nature of having a DOF. From what I gather their job is to be the link between the manager and the board, and as well in City's case acting as a manager by bringing players in. Apart from the City example should the interaction being these two parties be part of the manager's job?

Back on topic - I expect Fernandinho to flop.

It's the most common strategy on the continent. Manager's in England combine the responsibilities of a head coach and a director of football. In Europe, directors of football generally have more job security than head coaches so they provide a kind of continuity in all transfer dealings.

Fair enough.

Somebody mentioned Hulk earlier, heard today he might be going to Chelsea.

Barca should be the ones going in for Mignolet not Liverpool.

Big clubs will want to see him do well at a big-ish club before buying. I think he's brilliant but many could think that Sunderland merely make him look good.
