DCL is a good looking lad, authentic and with a glint in his eye. Reminds me of Phil Lynott. Top boy.
I've been one of his biggest critics - no more!

Her indoors is now on morphine (tablets not button) and we are having MacMillan nurses in. Still some cloudy skies ahead.'

Just spotted something on the internet sport. Scarborough promoted to National League North. This brought back a memory.
I remember playing against Scarborough in the Yorkshire League (1960's) when I played for Ossett Town. Scarborough always got a good crowd, (2 - 3,000) lovely ground, unlike say, South Kirby Colliery who got 3 men and two whippets! At this time, Scarbs were near the top of the league and we were lower mid-table. I was centre-half and in the second-half their centre forward had a break away. I was struggling a yard or so behind. He got into the penalty area but decided to have one more touch, over hit it and it went out for a goal kick. I carried on running to get the ball for a goal kick. A voice in the crowd shouted 'you big fairy'. I shouted back 'yes, but we are 4 - 0 up'. The same voice shouted 'not talking to you, talking to our centre-forward. there was a pause and then a different voice shouted 'I can see why you thought he was talking about you though'. Collapse of kop behind the goal plus me and all our defence!

Physically or mentally?
Good point, probably both.

I don’t think he’s a very good footballer at all. I never have. I have said what makes him different is that he is a tremendous athlete and if he worked on being mechanical he would be a top player.
if he stayed humble and continued to work the way he did when he was lukakus replacement he would be fine. But he didn’t, he got a flurry of goals that Stuart Barlow would struggle to miss under a set up where ancelotti basically made him a goal hanger… then he started giving it the “name pointing at his shirt”… became a big I am. Turned up on Monday night footy to give punditry on his own club?!
Not arsed about him, he’s not arsed about us.
Exactly, 100%.

Moved into our new (to us) apartment yesterday in Flackwell Heath (Bucks) to be near our youngest daughter. Move went really well. Brilliant removal men and all the family to help out. Really like the new place, beautiful gardens all covered by a management fee, no work! Apartment has good quality fittings and is nicely decorated, so no work there either! Big weight off my mind.
Got a call from the Consultant and he is going ahead with Radio Therapy. I think it starts in a couple of weeks. Since going on the new tablets (17 per day) I have been eating a lot better and putting a bit of weight back on.

Nice to see two faces to names, great pic.
Haf, sadly I don't look like that now! (2 years ago). Lost 2 stone with illness and haven't had a hair cut for three months. Look like wild man from the east. Steve will be as fit as ever!

Steve, nothing more I would like but sadly am moving house - tomorrow! Will be a bit further away but the main problem is timing. Don't think I will have time. Please don't hesitate to email me if you are ever passing through.

Seriously???
No, it's how the joke was worded. Grandad was a very pleasant, quiet gentleman - and a blue. That was my Dad's Dad. Never knew my Mum's Dad as he died when she was 10. He was a foreman on the docks and died of cholera after drinking contaminated water on a ship they were unloading.

Sorry to hear that John, it’s not nice to get a number given to you. The reality is none of us know when our time is up. I’m sure you will live as you always have - to the full. Let’s hope that lot on the park give you something to cheer mate.
Haf, my grandad knew the exact day and time he was going - the judge told him.

Had an appointment at Windsor Hospital today with the cancer consultant. He has ruled out chemo and surgery, though radio therapy remains as an option. He reckons I have got 2 years which takes me to 88. Can't really complain about that - good run. Just hope that Everton stay in the Premiership for the next couple of seasons.

Think I may have posted this before but it is the 40th anniversary of the Falklands war.
Walking through town centre, saw a guy in shop doorway with sign 'Falklands Veteran'. Gave him 20 quid. He said 'Gracias Senor'.

My irritation mate is that I commented on certain moments I saw. You’ve then extended on that and are now coming back at me as I’m still talking about my original point.
And yes it is a “clever” thing to do. You’ve played at a decent level Haf, you know this is coached from bottom level to top.
Can’t win the ball? Still jump. Not close enough to challenge? Still jump!I get your upset with him, I want him to succeed, but even I’m starting to worry. And if I’m honest, if he left…. It wouldn’t be the end of the world for me. I commented that he had a bad game, and is off it. But I still back him as I feel he is working and trying. And I will give him credit when due, like setting up a chance for Richie on Saturday, or winning headers against arguably one of the best defensive headers of the ball in the premier league. Which before anyone says he didn’t…. I have BT coverage proving he did haha.
Haf, you’ve gone off him for your own reasons. I still back him for my own reasons. So I’m going to back off and say your reasons are fine.
Actually, the coaching is slightly more sophisticated. You are right that the coaching is to 'jump' even (particularly) if you can't get the ball but 'jump' fractionally early is the key. This disrupts the timing of the opposition.

Current situation. They won't consider chemo or operation as they class my heart as 'heart failure'. They are starting on a 2+ months program of strengthening the heart muscles. These have become weak due to Atrial Fibrilation for the past 15 years. A specialist nurse is coming on a home visit tomorrow to start things off. Part of it is loads of changes to tablets. This is something I don't like as it's always accompanied by withdrawal type issues.
When son came down last week to take me to the hospital he must have picked up Covid from somewhere. When he got back to Nottingham and a few days later, he tested positive for Covid. I took a test on Saturday and I was positive too. One plus is that I don't feel any symptoms whatsoever. Doesn't mean much as I feel awful all the time anyway!

How have we lost to Burnley when we were given 2 penalties?
Because we are incapable of scoring from open play. Lampard needs to dump DCL asap and bring Rondon in. (Never thought I would ever post that) Good job DCL didn't take the penalties, he would have missed both.

I had an MRI earlier this month in a new "Nightingale" hospital in Exeter....was very much a "back of a lorry" mobile unit, I have scan envy.
Mike, is the MRI the claustrophobic one? Don't fancy that if it is.

By the way, thanks for all your kind comments and support. Means a lot.

Had my CT scan yesterday (no results yet) but I went to the new Heatherwood Hospital in Ascot which opened last week. The last CT scan I had was several years ago at Royal Berks in Reading. The unit was in the back of a lorry in the car park. Yesterday, when I walked into the room where the scanner was, it was like being on the Star Ship Enterprise in Star Trek. Fantastic facilities, great staff and I was called in on time and was out and done in 15 minutes.

Went for my endoscopy today. Bad news I'm afraid, they found cancer. They have taken biopsies to see where its at but the Doc didn't sound too optimistic.
Bad time with her indoors in the same boat and a house move imminent. Fortunate to have a fantastic family to look after us. Just one example: On Wednesday I have a CT scan at Heatherwood hospital in Ascot. My son is driving down from Nottingham to take me.

Palace have had 4 attempts on goal and scored two. We have had 9 attempts on goal with only one on target. What the hell do we do in training?

Sorry I have not been posting, been rather ill. Change to medication has improved things but no cure. Hope everyone is well. Don't know how long to go (and don't want to know, just take each day as it comes) her indoors in the same situation.
