I may be mistaken, but I believe he was making a more general comment on how we didn't take our chances or get the rub of the green often enough while our opponents did.

Definitely. That's how we played this exact XI last week. Wouldn't expect them to come out any differently.
I'm looking forward to running them ragged and then putting on Lukaku, Lennon and Bolasie in the second half to kick them while they're down.

Problem is (and studies have shown this) that big money tends to flow to the same charities, usually ones run by other elites within the networks of the wealthy, rather than to causes where the money is sorely needed.

The mega rich all over the world also have resources like people who know how and where to move their money, what form to keep it in, and how to access it without paying a lick of taxes. Capital isn't fixed in place. You and I use regular old banks and invest at a small level within one country. Moshiri has "assets" throughout the world in several forms, and he can pay people to keep him losing very little in taxation.
The rich tend to be rich because of their networks, having the right last name or alma mater, and, well, because they started life at the top. We can always point to the Horatio Algers of the world as examples of meritocracy working and that social mobility is easy with a little hard work and frugality. But, generally, "self-made man" myths work to perpetuate a culture of blaming the poor for their own poverty rather than explain why the well-to-do are well-to-do.
(I'm gearing up to start teaching another 3 sections of Intro to Sociology next week hahaha)

Stekelenberg
Holgate Jags Williams Baines
Gueye
Bolasie Deulodeu Barkley Mirallas
Lukaku
Would be into this. I figure we could go to one defensive mid here.

JoeQuince got a reaction from Romey 1878 in Our kit 2016/17?
Still wouldn't have saved it. The bright yellow Nike kit was better than this garbage. At least it had a workable style. This looks like something you put on for a jog.

I might die laughing at my Gooner friends if it's Lacazette!

JoeQuince got a reaction from markjazzbassist in Rachid Ghezzal
I think one of the key things Koeman wants in players is positional flexibility. He clearly likes to be flexible with his tactics and have his front line rotate around as well. So, rather than focusing on how a player fits into one particular formation, we should probably be considering how adaptable they are to different roles. If this is a player who can move around in a front three or four and who has a diverse skill set (it looks like he is that kind of player), then he's somebody we might really want to have around the squad, pushing all of our forward players for a spot in the XI.

And, another one in. I've never been his biggest fan, but I hope he works his dick off for Everton. Welcome to Everton!

For the amount, I'd like to take a chance on him. I don't know how we've "moved into pole position" for his signature, though. It's all conjecture at this point.
This guy's left foot!

JoeQuince got a reaction from Sibdane in Wilfried Bony
The only reason I wouldn't want Bony is that I don't know that I could handle going into the match thread after a 0-0 draw and seeing Haf slag Rom off while, at the same time, he's gushing over how Bony gave one of the greatest performances he's ever seen in an Everton shirt.
I don't think I could handle it.

This. He's hardly the finished product. I don't think his ceiling is that much higher either. He's a mid table player and not much more, as far as I'm concerned. I don't want us buying players (or overpaying) just to have more bodies around the squad. £30m is crazy for Bolasie, as is £18m. Another overhyped player that will get found out on a bigger stage. I'd rather not have Everton be the club that spunks stupid money up the wall for an overhyped player and later regrets it. We're not even done with the Niasse thing yet.

Whether or not it was a dive, he made their defenders look like neanderthals

Gana Gueye straight into the starting XI. Well, that's one way to figure out what you've got on your hands!

If we sign Draxler in this window, I'll get a tattoo on my forehead that reads "Farhad Moshiri is my daddy, and I'm his little bitch boy."
