Did we overpaid massively for a kid not yet ready to play first team football? He wasn't first choice at Rangers as well...
Rangers first choice right back Tavernier is their captain and arguably best player, so I’m not sure if that’s a massive strike against him.
He’s also come into a team battling relegation (while also trying to displace another captain!), so not exactly ideal for him to get pressure free game time.
I think with Patterson we’ll realistically need to wait a couple of years before we can start writing off/worrying about his transfer. He’s only 20, so he needs to be afforded the same patience as a youth player trying to break through. Everyone knows we’ve needed a young right back like him to ease game time from Coleman for years, but the young lad can’t help that situation!

He should've come on instead of Iwobi. If he was fit enough for the bench, he was got enough for 30 mins.
Fit enough doesn’t mean good enough unfortunately Matt

I can’t believe he’s the only current male pro that’s come out. I really hope to see this improve over the next 5-10, along with football’s (and all sports) culture around this.

His importance to us goes up by the game.
Ridiculous that it will have taken a shit stain like Rondon to make people realise just how good he is.
Completely agree. The only issue with him last season was of our own making; playing him every game and completely burning him out.

I know we may as well be playing with 9 or 10 with Rondon and Iwobi on the pitch, but you could probably slot Gordon in as an 11th player

Koeman would have pushed the schneiderland deal though. I remember when we signed him I was stoked we didn’t get Axel Witsel in the summer. Mental, absolutely mental.
To be fair he was an absolute gun for that first half a season with us. I rated him as one of our best players during that time. He just decided to go on vacation after that point

Thought so as well. Would have preferred to see him central with Gray out wide but he was okay.
I think that Iwobi would’ve been more likely to get a chance centrally if one of Richy or DCL had been available. I think Gray was put up top to give us some counter-attacking presence, with Rondon not offering much in the way of pace.

Has much been said in England about the VAR intervention for the Man city v Southampton penalty? Thought the red card would be voided, as they don’t do “double jeopardy” on penalties anymore, but even Walker looked shocked at the decision reversal.

I’ll be curious to see what formation we go with next match. Revert back to 4-4-2 with Richy and Rondon, or try for a 4-3-3 like we ended the Burnley watch with.
I think in an ideal world Rondon starts for DCL, but I’m doubtful that he’s got a full 90 minutes in him.

I just don’t know how he’s managed to flop at United and then get sold for a massive profit (especially considering the current financial climate). Can we interest Leeds in Iwobi at £40M considering?

Fair play to him - a few of our recent (including current) flops should take note…
Seems a pretty good guy in the scheme of things for a footballer. He was one of the few Chelsea players that didn't down tools during their 2015/16 season that got Mourinho sacked (again).

Did Bertrand jump ship? I thought his contract ran out and Southampton didn’t offer him a new one.
Maybe I got that one wrong. I thought he was like Ings and wasn't interested in signing another contract with the club. Seems an odd piece of business to let go of your starting left back if it was Soton's choice, but I guess that's the post-covid landscape we live in.

That’s strange obviously he couldn’t see a future there. I’m going to start to have to catch up on what’s going on.
I don't think he rates their coach, plus the way Soton finished last season they'll be amongst the relegation spots for this one on form. I believe it's the reason why Bertrand jumped ship too.

£50m? That's why I never look in this part of TT unless terminally bored. Godfrey would be worth £200m in that universe.
And I’m sure Brighton fans would say the same about White if they were linked to Godfrey for £50m. The bottom line is that they’re both quality, young CBs, but I’m not sure that he should be a priority signing considering our many other problem positions.

It’s still my favourite Everton goal, honestly.

I’d guess they’re comparing his attacking prowess rather than effort. I do hope we sign an exciting winger this summer though - I’m so envious when I see players like Neto, Podence, Barnes, Raphina and even Trossard and St Maximin... all seem to have no fear and can do something all by themselves - I think Iwobi has the ability to do what they do but he doesn’t seem to do it as often - maybe it’s a discipline of the tactics - I don’t know. I don’t necessarily want us to sign any of the players above, as I feel they’ll all come at a premium price, but I’d love us to sign an equivalent player - maybe Silas Wagamama’s is our man.
You’ve pretty much listed all the players on my winger wish list (I don’t really watch much football outside of the prem).
Iwobi hasn’t got anywhere near the pace and jinky-ness (?) of the others mentioned. Hence him usually having to bomb in early crosses when playing out wide, rather than taking on a full-back.
It’s the main reason we struggle to break down deep defences. No one in our team has that ideal combination of speed, agility and skill. I’d love to have Neto out on our right wing, being able to cut both ways and generally making defenders look like idiots.
-
I think it’s time we let the puns sima down lads...
Doing a bit of research into the player himself though, it sounds like he’s raw, but with a dangerous combination of pace and height. If he works on his game and fills out a bit he could be a striker in the Haaland/Lukaku mold, but it might be a bit much of a jump from the Czech league straight to the prem. I’d still be excited to see what he could do off the bench though at his age.

Best one in the pack was Metamorphosis from Kaiju in Dandenong. You tried that one?
Weren't a fan of the Hop Nation and Boatrocker ones.
Yep! I actually have a kaiju brewery shirt Boatrocker I generally see has being pretty average and I used to enjoy a lot of hop nation beers, but they seem to have gone down hill. So there’s some shared opinions there.

Just signed up for beer52. Case of 8 craft ales every month. Just had the first one, old mate (moon dog, Australia), and it was decent, not too dissimilar to punk ipa over here.
Any how, if anyone else is looking at signing up please use my referral code, gets you half price for your first order and more importantly free beer for me if you keep it. Most people join then cancel straight away (what my mate has told me to do), that way you get the beers half price without the commitment. Gonna have a second one in a sec and watch the highlights from last night.

Edit;
#2 generic hoppy one
#3 Juicy, 3 Ravens (also Australia, which is the theme of the box by the looks of it), not really a fan of juice flavoured beers such as Elvis Juice but this one was nice, tasted like punch then finished with a light wheat beer taste. If it was summer I'd like a pint in a beer garden.
#4 Shake, salted caramel one. Creamy dessert tasting beer isn't for me. Although it seems to be trending in the microbreweries at the moment.
Ooo, you’re speaking my language there. The two breweries you’ve mentioned are both Melbourne based, so quite local for me! It’s pretty neat to see them making it all the way over to England

But since Roberto left not one manager has rated him, including the ones who loaned him. Maybe he just wasn’t good enough? Enough managers thought he wasn’t good enough anyway.
He got the best luck of his life when he got his Everton contract, I don’t blame him for taking every penny, because he’ll get nowhere near it again in his career.
I just can’t believe that we offered him a contract extension at some stage too. We’ve effectively gotten 1.5 seasons of playing time out of him over a 7 year contract. Diabolical.
-
I only ever thought of him as solid, but unspectacular at Burnley and Liverpool, but he’s really impressed me over these last two seasons. He just does pretty much everything well, on top of being a clinical finisher. He’s unselfish and pairs well with other strikers, so would help to bring DCL into games, but has all the tools to do it alone up top as well.
I’d take him in a heartbeat, provided his wage demands aren’t insane.

That’s the problem with him. I’d say his best position is playing off a front man, but that means playing 4-4-2 and sacrificing the midfield. He’s a bit undersized to play as the sole striker in the prem and lacks the class to be effective (mostly) out wide
As soon as we sell him I’m sure he’ll dominate given the right team set up and league though! That’s the frustrating thing.
