£15 per game I think.
Wow. I’m sure plenty will still take it up (whether due to loyalty or stupidity), but seems like the sort of practice that people should be taking a stand against. Boycott all the way from me.

Any news on the cost per match yet? It’s already cheap enough in Australia ($15 a month for all games live and most available as replays too), but I get mine for free with my internet plan English fans getting absolutely fleeced.

No, I want their full team out there so no one can make any excuses if we get the win.
Will it really matter when they’ll probably have a whinge regardless? Someone better give the Goodison grass a measure.

was he playing regularly for them? because they were getting blitzed week in and out, how can he be so good?
Because he’s only one of 11 players on the field of that side?
Also, it’s not like we haven’t found a bit of quality from relegated teams recently either. McCarthy, Gana and (hopefully) Doucoure all spring to mind.

My James away kit is on its way currently too. It seems to be a bit of faux pas to get a player’s name on the kit as an adult, but can’t help but feel like it’s missing something without it.

I’m more worried about facing BHA than I am United. They were shite
Man U looking shite, same for Tottenham despite winning 5-2 last week weirdly. Good chance to break into the top 4-6 this season.

How have united won that one? Can’t help but feel they get all the big 50-50s called in their favour even now.

It’s probably the one positive to all of our misplaced spending. We actually have the sort of squad depth (albeit lacking in quality) to rest players for early league cup matches and such.
Now to just make more use of those bloated numbers and qualify for European football.

Good to see him doing his job of creating once he came on tonight by adding another assist to his tally. Now I'm just hoping for a goal from him soon.
Likewise. It seems like he’s desperate to get his first on the board for the club after missing some close chances last week.
Fingers crossed he can start impressing enough on the training field to earn his spot back on the bench in league games too.
-
I was guessing it might be James myself. He used to be a regular taker before he started playing with the likes of Ronaldo and Lewandowski.

He’s always struck me as a player that we should get in if Richarlison leaves in the near future. Not the most classy winger, but very direct and likes a goal.
Having said that, I know I’ll be in the minority, but I’d actually prefer Zaha if they’re similarly priced. I didn’t realise Hirving was already 25, so he hasn’t exactly got youth on his side over Zaha either.

I agree in a sense that he is one of those players that I like and think he would do well here but at the same time, his actual cost is far greater than it should be. As you have said he is far more important to Palace than he would be anywhere else. In some ways its a similar situation to Gylfi coming from Swansea.
I would agree when fees like 80M we’re getting thrown around, but at 20-30M that’s been mentioned in the media it sounds about right.
Wages getting out of hand is a completely different matter though. Need to hope that the club are doing the right thing in that regard before we keep bringing in new signings.
-
If we’re trying to jam our best players into some sort of workable formation:
Pickford
Kenny Holgate Keane Digne
Doucoure Gomes Allan
James
DCL Richarlison
I think ideally we’d actually manage to sign a half decent right winger, drop Gomes and play 4-3-3, but you can’t have everything.
-
I’ll be interested to see how we squeeze all the new signings into midfield. In an ideal world Allan and Doucoure would be playing as box-to-box mids next to a holding midfielder and I’d imagine James playing as a no. 10 or attacking 8.
I wonder if we’ll move to the diamond midfield of Ancelotti’s old AC Milan side. It might be the better option over playing the likes of Walcott, Bolassie, etc.
-
Romero would just be a back up keeper that might actually put a bit of pressure on Pickford for once. He’s another “highlights” keeper; capable of a good reaction save, but flaps too much.

On the final day. He's in to take wickets and he doesn't do that enough, in my opinion. We need better.
I mean half the job of a spinner is to keep it tight at one end and let your quicks rotate around him too. I think Leach does a pretty decent job of that.
There’s still people in Australia who don’t rate Lyon because he can’t take wickets at will (I.e. he’s not a Shane Warne clone) and ignore the other jobs he does for the test team.

They sacked him, he didn't leave, I'm amazed they do as well as they do with all the changes, I suppose it looks good on a managers CV, a few months at Watford!
It’s not exactly volunteer work either. I’m sure they make a few bob out of it

is it just me or is that some amazingly creative fucked up logic?!
Also shows how many football fans need to get a grip on reality. Imagine using the same excuses for kidnapping a player’s loved ones or threats (or worse). I like to use the line “football is the most important of the unimportant things in life” in these sort of situations.

Moyes put up with him and got the best out of him and he's our strictest managers I've known. I'd question the other managers before the player. We all know he's a nob but if Moyes could handle him then the rest should have. Match winner on his day.
Moyes only had him for a season. He was arguably better the next season under Martinez too.
The guy was a downhill skier of a player. Only looked interested when the team was travelling well.

He certainly played out wide on the right a lot more. He and Richarlison kept swapping positions to get him more involved in the game. While his crossing out there is quality, I doubt he’d be getting the same amount of time and space against premier league level full-backs though.
-
I’d rather play Richarlison or Walcott up front than Niasse, so he barely counts as cover. He’s a Hail Mary option off the bench for the last 5-10 mins at best. His dribbling and basic passing are both that bad that you literally don’t want him touching the ball unless it’s for a header or shot.
May as well sell him (Niasse) while we can get some token fee for him, hope Kean settles and then we can always sell Tosun in January when teams are desperate for goals to stave off relegation.

I’d like to see that as it looks exciting, however you can’t forget Siggys goal contribution and at the moment I don’t see Bernard getting close to scoring the same amount.
This is why I think Sigurdsson is such a good pairing with DCL. Gylfi is probably our best all-round finisher in the team currently (last game permitting), so he helps to make up for Dominic’s lack of goals up front.
That’s why I’m hoping Kean can show a bit of improved movement and finishing in the box. It means we can play more of a creator in the AM role, like a Bernard or Iwobi, and not be worried about a lack of scoring power.
