I find him very unconvincing. There, I said it.
I'm far from saying sell him but I don't feel as enthused as most about relying on him to score our goals.

I’d like him to have better competition than Niasse and DCL... I like all 3 but I think we need a striker who is really going to make Tosun worry about his starting position and hopefully take him to another level.

Instead I just watch them and make an opinion Nogs. Trust me, I have watched him at every opportunity as I think he is a promising player. But I’m not going to make out he is going to light up the premier when his weakness are all out there on show.
Yes he has scored a few, laid in assists and had some MoM performances. But he has also had some no shows, glaring misses and bad decisions. He is young and learning his trade.
Allow him that time to learn.

I'm not really sure why people think Unsworth had us looking up. His best managerial performance came after his replacement was announced, where days earlier Southampton put 4 past us. 2 days prior to that we conceded 5 at home. I wasn't watching us and thinking potential, it looked like we'd lose every game at that point just prior to West Ham.
Granted I'm not thinking potential now either, but I think it's a bit revisionist to think there was more hope at any point in the season than now. We've got 12 games coming up, 2 of those against top 4 sides at home. Right now is the best run we'll have all season, and being an eternal optimist I really hope behind the scenes the players, staff and Sam are trying to sort their shit and actually finish this season with some modicum of respect for the club, fans and themselves.

We are now 10th as opposed to 16th , we are 7 points off the relegation zone as opposed to 2 and we are 11 points off bottom place as opposed to 4

Not sure how you can say we are not in a less precarious position

Oh and if we want to talk potential there are less potential points up for grabs for the teams below us to catch up !

The game that I still look back on with disbelief was 13/14 season Everton 3-0 Arsenal, we out played and out passed the best total football team in the league we made them look mediocre they couldn't get the ball off us we were better than Brazil that day, and under Wenger I'd never seen a team before or after that game dominate Arsenal as we did that day the hairs on the back of my neck are standing up just thinking about it.

@nogsI just don’t think there’s realistically anymore the club can be doing when it comes to bringing through academy and youth players, bar playing the complete u-21 team in the prem. We’re currently bringing through Kenny, Holgate, Beni, Davies, Lookman, Vlasic, DCL (albeit Lookman and Vlasic could be getting more of a look in) and loaning out other top talent like Dowell, Williams and Robinson. Is there a Premier League with more youth in it’s match day squads?
The reality of Liam Walsh is that he played 2 or 3 games in about 3 months for Birmingham while on loan. On the flip side Dowell and Williams have been guaranteed starters for better Championship sides, while Robinson has also broken into the Bolton side after a month or so. 
Obviously with Klaasen we spent $20M+ on him because the top brass thought he’d be providing that much value on the field. That he hasn’t is down to poor scouting/the board/shit luck and hasn’t really got anything to do with youth development. 

I'd not let him go. Play him most games from the bench, against tired legs his unorthodox shiteness is a massive weapon as he's proven this season. Get Tosun to run ragged for 70 mins then bring Niasse on. He's won us points from the bench and there's little else on there that could. 

If Lundstram, Bidwell, Vaughan were any good, they would've been picked up by a top flight team.... 
Forshaw clearly didn't do quite enough to get signed by another PL team when Boro went down. If Brighton went down, I'm not sure Duffy would get picked up by a PL side. Maybe as cover.

Also to add to this that doesn’t mean our academy isn’t doing its job. That we’re  able to produce the odd first team player (Barkley, Davies, Kenny, hopefully Dowell) and produce a good amount of players that League 1 and Championship team are actually willing to buy off us is all you can expect your academy to do at most. 

That doesn’t make him any good. So we should have kept hold of a shit player for 5 years, even though he wouldn’t have been good enough to play for us, for the time when Baines falls apart in 2017/2018, and still wouldn’t have been good enough to play for us? That’s some pretty fucked up logic. 
Our LB problem isn’t because we let kids go. Our LB problem is because of moronic buying. In this case not buying any fucking one even though it was obvious that Baines wouldn’t be able to play a full season, even without injury.

What a crock of fucking shite that is- you have no idea what was said other than what you could see. One thing absolutely certain is that the way he reacted he 100% believes it was said- whether he has mis-heard or misinterpreted it I don’t know but absolutely no way has he made that up.
