Didn't want to tease everyone into thinking that there were new rumors of Landon coming back but I felt this was worth sharing. Happened in our Gold Cup game yesterday after El Salvador fans threw crap at him as he was about to take a corner.

Makes you respect Baines that much more. Despite how involved he gets offensively you rarely see him getting caught or making a mistake going the other way. Like what I've seen from Oviedo but anyone who thinks that we'd be "fine" if Baines were to leave is in denial.

Hibbert looks like a guy who hasn't played in a full year.

Yeah, here is the thing. We have literally thousands, if not millions, of people, many of whom kids, affected or killed by diabetes, obesity, and a number of other related and easily preventable things. We have a number of people, many of whom kids, dying or having their lives gravely affected because of a lack of health care. And while these things are on the radar they're pretty much overlooked.

But once a dozen white suburban kids are gunned down at school the entire country loses its collective shit. Look, I'm not saying that what happened at Newtown or similar incidents aren't terrible, but we could literally save or at least dramatically change the lives of millions by focusing on bettering education and healthcare. Instead, we treat those as inevitabilities but run around demanding reform for isolated gun incidents. It's a travesty.

My new girlfriend is gorgeous. Not like that ugly cow that is my ex (who was also gorgeous until she dumped me).

David Moyes spent a decade with this club doing some absolutely fantastic things despite spending very little money. Roberto Martinez has not so much as managed a friendly match. Let's wait a little bit before we start comparing.

thoward18 got a reaction from Matt in United fan in peace, in need of some information about Moyes
I don't know how fair it is to compare Everton Moyes with Man U Moyes. At Everton, Moyes was expected to be a top-8 team consistently despite being handed a bottom of the table budget. As such, every penny counted and I think it can be said that he was definitely careful in his decisions.

With Thiago Alcantara... it's an isolated incident and I don't think much can be concluded from it. I think Man U fans should remember that Moyes, like any new manager, is in a new environment with a new set of expectations and new puzzle to put together. Regardless of whether this Alcantara incident was poor form or not I think it's inevitable that mistakes are going to be made along the way. If the primary concern was to win at all costs in 2014 then I would think that Mourinho or Ancelotti or Pep or someone of that caliber would have been brought in. Moyes was brought in by Ferguson for the long haul. He's a brilliant mind and he's going to have a nice run with Man U, I would think.

Finally, let me remind Everton fans that, while this transfer window has been exciting, spending money and making headlines means absolutely nothing if it doesn't translate onto the pitch. Just ask Liverpool all about that.

Fuck it, I'll get excited about him even if it means I'm risking disappointment. Kone and Alcaraz are not bad players by any means but there's not a whole lot to them; what you see is what you get. Deulofeu has game-breaking ability. He's like Mirallas in that he has the individual skill to make something out of nothing. He's the type of player you can sub on in a boring 0-0 game and instantly get a spark. I've been cynical about some of the other signings so I'll give credit where credit is due on this one. This is a brilliant pickup by Martinez and a creative way to get some flair into the lineup given our budget.

Donovan not leaving is purely Donovan's choice. Obviously MLS wanted him to stay, but they're not going to force him to if he doesn't want to. Dempsey and Howard left at times they were the elite players in the league. Altidore was the best rated young striker the league had arguably ever had and he was sold. Clint Mathis and Damarcus Beasley as well. Brek Shea and Geoff Cameron were also stars and were sold. Though Los Angeles obviously would want a decent transfer fee (as any team in the world would for their players) they would not prevent him from moving on. The only thing keeping Landon Donovan in the US is Landon Donovan.

How the hell is this a fair comparison? Altidore was 20 years old at the time. Kone was 29 when he scored 11 for Wigan. Altidore just scored 31 total goals this past season, including the game winner against PSV for the Dutch Cup. He has scored four goals in his last four games at the international level. But fuck me, let's judge him on a loan spell from three years ago when he was barely even developed.

Isn't this the point, though? Have any of those concerns adequately been adressed? We lost Cahill and Saha and still haven't developed a striker who deserves to be anywhere near the match-day roster. We had to scramble and find Hitzlsberger to address our gaping hole in central mid once Neville started going downhill. Wouldn't it be nice if we brought in someone who could give us 4-5 quality years instead of bringing in 29-30 year old stopgaps and having to deal with the same issues in 2 years time? No, I don't expect us to grab a Lewandowski but let's not pretend that there's no middle ground between that and a 5M striker in the twilight of his career. Swansea hardly broke the bank to bring in Michu. Same with West Brom and Shane Long. And these are teams who were below us on the table and have less prestige than Everton. I find it very hard to believe that Kone is the best we can do.

Liverpool was probably a poor example. Kenwright went running to the press about how he and Martinez really want to make a push for the Champions League. And yet the only players we seem truly involved with right now are a couple of 30-year-olds from a relegated team and who are nothing more than rotation options. Meanwhile even teams like Sunderland and Aston Villa are making moves to try to improve their squad. I don't expect us to make a bid for Messi and I understand there's still time but it would be nice to see Kenwright literally put his money where his mouth is and take some initiative in putting in some genuine bids for one or two real difference makers.

Let me put it this way to you guys. If you don't want Tim Cahill back on loan, then you definitely shouldn't want Kei Kamara back on loan. That Norwich game vs us was a fluke.
