Would be a stupid signing. Something Walsh or Allardyce would do.Probably peaked last summer so his price will only be going down. Almost certainly bullshit, Brands is not going to spend 20 million on someone who's value is only going to decline.

I rather not risk building a stadium too big just for the bragging rights. It could be a millstone for the next 40 years.

I don’t think anyone on this site thinks Silva is killing it right now. Results obviously say otherwise, and his set piece statistics are abysmal. I know I think his set piece tactics are absolutely shit, and I would imagine pretty much everyone else on this forum thinks so, too.
Whether or not he’s doing a great job now is not the point. The point is that if we continue to have a revolving door of managers, no one will ever be able to come in and settle the squad, as it will continue to be an absolute hodgepodge clusterfuck of a squad. Establishing a winning culture can take time in any sport in any league, and is magnified even more in a league that is both the world’s biggest stage and a sport that relies so much on mentality.
It comes down to expectations and I think the majority of us happen to be a bit more realistic in our expectations than is anyone who is currently calling for Silva’s head.

Closing down requires the whole team to do their job. No-one is quicker than the ball so if no-one else does closing down one player will always look inefficient.

As has been said countless times, zonal marking is used by most teams when facing free kicks. It's only corners where zonal marking is not the norm. And while our corner defending could be better it's the free kicks that have been the real problem. So even if he did have an epiphany tomorrow and switched to man-marking with corners it would have very little effect.

How many 20-year old CMs are there in the Premier League that are much better than Davies? How many have there been in the last five years?

Why is anyone taking this seriously? Does this strike you as a Brands signing?
If yes, then carry on. If not, what's the point in discussing this?

Ferguson didn't exactly leave the club in a good spot, though. They are still trying to get back because for the last few seasons he wasn't interested in the long run anymore.
And Manchester United can afford to throw 30 million away on a short-term solution.

I don't think so. Brands's plans are for the long term. Buying a 30+ year player is very short-term. His business plan seems to be to buy players before they hit their prime. I'm pretty sure part B is to make a profit on them. This is what he did at PSV very well and what he seems to be saying in any interviews.

Plus how much more tourism do they get?
And everyone wanting a 60k stadium, bear in mind that even if those 10k extra seats were sold out every game ticket income would only increase by 6-8 million per season. A modest hike in prices could generate 10 million, assuming they are all still sold. Considering revenue will soon be 200 million it's hardly going to transform the club. And obviously it would cost close to 100 million (current estimate for a seat for the 52k stadium is £7k and Meis has said the last 10k is always the most expensive) which would have to be paid back as well. For a 40 year loan it would mean 2,5 million per year plus interest, which would mean somewhere between three and four million.
Refreshments add a bit to that but since number of tourists at the match is lower than, say that other lot's, an average Everton fan don't spend as much at the match. Overseas fans visiting will spend money on scarves, shirts, programmes etc. They might buy a cuppa but just getting them to buy their pints from the stadium instead of a pub on the way to and from the match is a big task.
The big difference between GP and BMD in any case are the executive boxes. GP is desperately short in this regard. BMD can have plenty of them. And this is the real kicker. Club will be able to sell tons more boxes, especially because it's a new stadium at a great location.

Newcastle are the only club in town, though. And stadium size won't matter if we are to climb beyond them. That extra few million per year means nothing at all when you consider their revenue is about twice as big.
