the formula is the past 4 years results, so we got more wins but throughout the last 4 years mex probably has more.  it's a wacky formula and not reliable, but like you said, i'll take it as well.  just hope when we play some actual good teams from south america or europe we can win.

No need to apologize @patto it's a subject we all have to deal with. Besides, Mark and I will usually disagree on most everything non-USMNT related, but civilly so. 
My guess is this may become the new flu shot, that has a booster every year. Except the flu has a season, this does not. I am curious if other folks have gotten the J&J one-shot vaccine? I got that a couple/few months back, both my neighbors got it a month or so ago, and all had minimal reactions to it, I actually had no reaction to it.

We all should take blame for spreading it, but the WHO did the report and it originated in Wuhan.  Either at the west market or at that lab.  It would be nice if they took some responsibility and faced some repercussions.  We all know that won’t happen.

Agreed just as many maybe catching it, but far less are falling seriously ill going to hospital and most importantly dying. Get the vaccine and save someone else. 

"the science" doesn't tell us that. There have been zero cases of a child infecting a teacher in the US that I am aware of. It does certainly inhibit learning and teaching at the minimum. I really don't feel we should be making kids, especially younger ones wear masks in school, there isn't much to support it's necessary besides the sentiment you shared - however, I don't feel strong enough about to make a federal case over it - but if kids(their parents) or staff want to wear a mask, then by all means they should. 
 
I might be inclined to wear it, just to avoid the hassle. airlines seem pretty aggressive, and even if you are "in the right", you will be right, but likely still removed from the plane. And that's a shitty way to start a holiday!  I had not worn a mask (besides very sporadically) until the Mrs and I took a trip to Panama last month. Wore it 24/7 when not in our room down there. Their country, their rules, and all in all, air travel included, a small price to pay for a great time exploring a new country. Well, to be fair, Panama isn't that new, but it was to us

To the Euro-snob thing, the only time I really got into MLS, was when Tata was at ATL United. In part because they were new, and only a 2.5 hour drive (amazing stadium and atmosphere) but mainly beavuse the football Tata had them playing, especially with Martinez and Almiron. Since Tata left, I have lost interest in ATL and MLS as a whole, generally. Double whammy he left ATL for El Tri. Unlucky for him that Mexico is in a generational transition at the same time the US young players are maturing throughout Europe, and a wealth of young prospects are beginning to come up through the ranks. 
If we can just get someone to cement the number 9. I still think it can be Sarjent, and have hope for Dike.
Zardes for me kind of epitomizes the USMNT of old. He is not a great footballer - technically questionable, often has concrete feet on his first touch... but absolutely works his ass off for 90' plus, grinding away more on athletic skill and determination than anything else. I roll my eyes when he starts, but I personally find it impossible to not like and respect him.

This. I think what this gold cup victory showed is that, if and when our first choice squad players might be out with injury or fatigue due to the grueling schedule, we have guys ready to step up who now have this experience under their belts. 
Essentially winning a tournament final on Sunday at an away stadium, as I heard something that it was probably 85/15 Mexico support. You can't quantify how important that experience is, especially since it benefits the guys who might have to step up in a pinch.
I too am looking forward to qualification now. I love seeing Berhalter succeed, mostly because it pisses off all the euro-snob USMNT supporters who think they know everything. I was positively giddy when Zardes scored the winner in the semifinal 😀

I am a euro snob supporter but I like berhalter.  He was a former USMNT player and he was excellent in MLS with teams that weren’t marquee.  Also he has a good football philosophy which is important.  I liked bob bradley for that era, loved Juergen just because he threw the establishment and concept of how we could play out the door.  Arena was a massive fail and I wasn’t a fan of that, he was a has been.  
 
I still believe our best players play in Europe, surprise surprise, they do!  Not rocket science there.  
 
to @Ghoat earlier point on Tata, I would have loved to get him as manager as well.  Hell if it all goes south I would still take him.  He knows how to get attacking football and has managed some big clubs and national teams.  

It's gonna be fairly rough, 3 games in 7 days on the international break in September and October. That's why that depth coming from the Gold Cup was so welcome. But I certainly like where we are heading in.

That was a pretty big win, seeing what the squad was during the Gold Cup. I don't think anyone on that roster would make the starting Xi, and maybe only a few would make the bench. But that was a great tourny for that group, and Berhalter. They had to just grind out results in almost every match. Really good experience and looks promising for depth. 
I think it was a big loss for Mexico, rough summer for their homophobic chanters, losing cup finals  to both the USA 1st and 2nd teams. Hate it for em. Tata may be in the hot seat, he is something like 30-3-4 but 2 of those loses are to us in Cup finals this summer. I'd love it if they ran Tata off, because I think he is a great manager.

It's the damn Brit shows via Prime that are getting me! BritBox, Acorn, Masterpiece Theater... I do snag my oldest daughters Hulu, and youngest daughters Disney (basic) and they use my NF and Prime. I've been thinking about threatening to take them both off the car insurance or make them cover the streaming stuff. Wife says I can't do that.
